In Essays on Languages in General (1777), #Sablier provides one of the clearest eighteenth-century testimonies to the continuity between the ancient Epirote language and modern Albanian. He states without any ambiguity that “the #Epirote language has been preserved in Epirus or in #Shqiperi(#Albania)”. Sablier further insists that this language “has no connection with those of its neighbors”, openly mentioning Latin, Turkish and modern #Greek. This assertion is reinforced by his comparative lexical table, listed under the column entitled Epirote, which includes essentially Albanian forms such as bir, vëlla, motër, hanë… In this way, Sablier positions himself within a broad tradition of scholars, from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, who saw the Albanian language as an #autochthonous #Balkan idiom that had survived intact until the early modern period.
This book of 1805 is a proof that the so called “Greeks” of Calabria were ALBANIANS 🇦🇱
