Random fact of the day

Although much changed throughout its history, the religious composition of Timișoara is diverse. If in 1910 most of the inhabitants were Roman Catholics,[105] in 2011 75% declared themselves Romanian Orthodox.

In Timișoara there are 80 churches, 12 of which were built after 1989;[106] 41 belong to the Orthodox Church, eight to the Roman Catholic Church and three to the Greek Catholic Church.[83] In addition, there are three synagogues in Cetate, Fabric and Iosefin neighborhoods, all three built before World War I, when Jews accounted for 10% of the city's population;[107] the Orthodox synagogue in Iosefin and the central Neolog synagogue still hold regular religious services.[108][109] Timișoara is the seat of the Archiepiscopate of Timișoara, the see of the Metropolis of Banat, as well as the seat of the Diocese of Timișoara, one of the six Roman Catholic dioceses in Romania.

  • Is this some Romanian thing

It's common for Romanians not from Cluj/North-West areas to hate on the city. Usually because it is more expensive than most places(except Bucharest) and is the main hub of the Romanian Tech Industry

It's in no way comparable to Bucharest in terms of tech industry. Also, we don't hate Cluj =)) we just mock the classic IT guys who moved there and can't shut up about it.

It’s far from being close to ā€œmain hub of Romanian tech Industryā€. It’s just very focused on tech, but it’s far from being compared to the capital.

It’s also a lot more expensive than Bucharest (talking about rent/apartments here).
