I know this is definitely an Asian lady beetle but the way they clean themselves is super sweet. I’ve had this lil guy for 2 days now. His name is Francis and he’s quite chill! Asian lady beetles are also beneficial in case you didn’t know.
this person is not taking good care, feed them aphids if you can, but soil mites work too and are easy to acquire. Ladybugs are insectivores. Give them very slightly damp soil and spritz occasionally for water. They like hides too. Pieces of bark work well or dried leaves. Just make sure anything from outside is rinsed in case of pesticides.
not really active, but dormant. If you grab a piece of moss from outside and dampen it over some soil, there is about a 99% chance of finding soil mites. They’re also in most house plants unless you use pesticides indoors
We're letting some winter in our house, as well; any tips for survival?
I gave mine a piece of grape, lettuce and raisins
He seems to have a favorite of raisins and goes crazy! Also honey can work too but use a pipette
Thanks, Red Rover. 💌

I do indeed have a hide already so they don't get confused when we turn on the lights at 4-flipping-thirty.
I'll look into mites, thank you!
Are soil mites active year round? I live in Minnesota
