Good job, Ellie, does she give lessons? I have a mouse in my kitchen and none of my three cats want to do anything about it besides stare at the cabinets
It’s really variable. A lot of sites say to take caught mice a mile away, but our cat has caught a lot of mice which we’ve managed to take away from her safely and released them maybe 100’ from the house, and none have returned (we mark their tails with black, silver, and gold sharpies because we wanted to test that trope).
Ours is excellent at catching mice, but poor at keeping them: if she’s slightly distracted while she’s got one in her mouth, she’ll drop it, and re-catch it less than half the time; luckily, I’m often there with a large, wide-mouthed plastic jar, catch the mouse in that, dump it from there into a humane trap, then release it the next day.
My cat caught a mouse in the hall bathroom two years ago and has spent every night since in the hall at the bathroom door just waiting for another one to appear.
That proud little face 🥹 She knows she did something important.

Mr. Mouse is okay and was caught and released outside!
He'll be back in no time then. Might wanna take him a little farther

I respect the commitment to Science!
Probably scurried right back to the hole it entered from in the first place lol. Dark, safe, warm, no cats, already has its scent.
Why would you release him right outside? He's already back inside your house.
When you catch a mouse, drive to a field near a warehouse, release him there. I usually leave them with one of those 30¢ ramen packs as an apology.
Think of the carbon footprint; I only bike my captured rats so that the only CO2 released is my farts!
no way mr mouse sustained no injuries
Yeah, realistically Mr mouse was nicked by a tooth and will soon die of an infection. Insert Debbie Downer noise.
And feed another animal. Such is life. And we choose to live without mice in our houses.
That mouse will make a raccoon, opossum, skunk, or hungry squirrel not so hungry.
“I caught a mouse. Naturally, I assume there will be a state dinner.”- Ellie, the new national hero.
Sigh, how many courses for this dinner?
All of them. And it must be in a gold ballroom.
Definitely a ball room that seats 1300 people dunked in gold paint
dunked
spray paint
lol, good job. My brain actually glitched for a second.
It's the gummy's I took fault!!!
The real treasure is the gummies we took along the way.
What a good kitty! She should be paid with unlimited treats and scritches! 💕
She got a Churu reward!
This is insulting.
?
She should have gotten lots of pets, a box of churus and a tuna. A the minimum!
Found Ellie’s account!
Such a good little predator!
What a very Good Kitty!!! A fine protector of the home.
I am also proud of her!
And how are you going to pay the kitty for her great service? 🧐
Kitties who find mice get Churu!
That is a very good rule. Very fair. You're very reasonable.
What a cute little cat. Be honest though, is it possible that she brought it in the first place?
She'd never! Besides she's an indoor kitty. Her only outdoor adventures are short supervised stints in the fenced backyard.
So mousy got in by himself. Big mistake 😆
I remember being so surprised when my two indoors cats caught a mouse!
In the '90s I had three indoor cats at one point, and I wondered what the hell the sudden cat rodeo in the living room was about. Yep, mouse, lol.

I think Ellie and my Poppy may be long lost twin sisters!
Cats in the 17th century seeing a mouse: mealtime!
Cats in the 21st century seeing a mouse: playtime!

Good job baby!!

That face says she's been waiting all day for someone to acknowledge her hard work.

Jerry is fine, he was rescued and released outside!
Ellie is severely underpaid and her contract should be renegotiated.
Sounds like she needs a pawyer.
My cat caught a mouse in the hall bathroom two years ago and has spent every night since in the hall at the bathroom door just waiting for another one to appear.
On behalf of the United Kingdom we would like to invite Ellie for a state banquet in her honor.
And award her a CBE. (Cat of the British Empire)

Gorgeous Ellie, what a good kitten.
My now passed cat had caught 2 birds in 2 months a few years back. I still don’t know how she managed that.
