A 31-year-old woman lost both legs after being dragged while trapped to a car on the Marginal Tietê, near Vila Maria, in the northern zone of São Paulo, Brazil. The incident happened on the morning of November 29.
Tainara Souza Santos was helped by people passing by, who noticed it was a woman stuck on the outside of the trunk of a black car. She was taken to the Hospital Municipal Vereador José Storopolli.
According to the family’s lawyers, Fabio Costa and Wilson Zaska, the person driving the vehicle was the young woman’s ex, who had been chasing her for a long time. Tainara’s brother, Luan, told Metrópoles that the two were ex-flings and never had anything serious. The suspect would be Douglas Alves Da Silva.
The defense stated that the victim had both legs amputated, and due to the condition in which she was found, she remains hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but is not at risk of death. She is the mother of two children, a 12-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl.

Some people shock me. My friend and I (both female. She's only 5'2" so tiny and very slim girl) recently went to a gig. On the way to the hotel we saw a guy fall in the road and he was out, smacked his head badly. He had clearly got too drunk or taken drugs or something. So many people walked by him as my friend and I made our way over to help. Fortunately two men stopped to help us as we could not have moved him ourselves. Firstly people walking straight by him shocked me but what I really couldn't comprehend was when me and two men were trying to move this very obese man out of the road a car was beeping at us?! Sorry we aren't moving this person faster for you?! Get out and help you asshat.
This right there is why the first thing you're taught in CPR certification is point at someone (make it crystal clear ;no misinterpretation) and tell them to call 911 (or local emergency number). People get stunned with the Bystander Effect and assume someone else is going to take care of it.
Jump in if you are capable of helping, otherwise assist after calling an emergency number (if necessary).

The problem is sometimes when you help somebody they turn on you, especially if they are taking drugs, or they accuse you of hurting them and sue you.
The downvotes going on are crazy. Yes trying to intervene could cause the fatality and yes the woman lived. But how/why did the car eventually stop? Seeing that would mean imminent death for the poor woman in my mind, I would never think "I'm sure she'll recover if I just let this play out." 99/100 times this ends worse than this case.
Like, if I was under that car and you could somehow ask me if you should try to force the driver to stop at the possible risk that it would cause a collision fatal to me I would say.

If anything its the only choice you can still make in that situation to try and help. Another video evidence is far more useful than another "I saw the car dragging her body" statement. You also have to consider that if you're driving and with someone, you're not only putting yourself at risk but also others with you. One dead body is better than five, obviously no dead bodies is the best outcome and that can possibly happen if you help, but the other option is also possible to happen and its not a gamble you'd want to take in reasonable situations

I just watched the uncensored video of on X (posted above by OP) and oh my god the poor girl is so mangled that I pray she was in shock at that point and couldn't feel any pain, but the fact that she is acknowledging the man speaking to her and modestly trying to cover herself with her hands because she is aware that the clothing below her waist has been shredded away makes me doubt that and it's beyond horrible.

The road rash I got from THAT was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced... Not to mention the broken bones and other significant trauma (physical AND mental) this woman experienced... An old college buddy of mine's cousin was killed similarly by way of a purse snatching. Some shitfuck guy was looking for girls to rob when he saw her hanging out at a local place when the bars closed. He called out to her and when she came near his car, he grabbed her purse. The problem was that it was a shoulder purse and she became entangled in it as he sped off. She ended up passing away from the damage of being dragged and he got life in prison.

There is footage of when the car finally stopped, and all she was doing was try to cover up herself with the little parts of her clothes that remained, showing no sign of the enormous pain she would feel later. (This might be from another case, but I think that) She lost her nipples in the dragging. She was put in a coma to not deal with the pain.
