A former paramedic Mark Titley was handed an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, at Shrewsbury Crown Court after pleading guilty to Theft in a dwelling on April 4, 2023. He was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and pay £530 in costs and a £187 victim surcharge. Titley had initially denied the allegation, claiming he intended to "secure" the cash for family members. However, he later admitted to the theft.
Fucking great that he got punished. Its infuriating how the rapist of Oklahoma Jesse Butler got a lesser sentence for raping two girls and choking one of them to unconsciousness.
The way he seems to check the corners after makes me think he is normally wary of cameras and just forgot to check this time. Seemed to have an “oh shit” moment and quickly looked
I knew someone (we were not friends) who’s mother was a first responder and ended up being the first person on scene at a car accident that contained (at least) 2 dead teenagers. They were on their way to some sort of camp and their parents had given them several hundred dollars for that, she went through their pockets and took it. She only got caught because the boys parents knew it should be on them and raised the alarm when it wasn’t. Insanely despicable behaviour.
My dream job is to be a paramedic and I'm going to college for it in the fall next year. This disgusts me, he is there to safe a life (failed) then stole from the deceased absolutely horrendous. I hope that the family sued him for all he's worth.
This guy is a bad person, and failed his integrity exam.
But, be careful with the mindset of "someone died therefore the medics did a bad job"
The vast majority of cardiac arrests remain dead, even with perfect performance from rescuers. The ones that survive have a high chance of permanent injury. Something to keep in mind going into the field.
I didn't mean it as mean (i wouldn't be going into the field if I didn't know that people die all the time) but the paramedics jobs are to save life's or ease someone's suffering as they pass, and to add insult to injury he stole her cash. She also could've been actively passing away when he did this.
I’m not defending him by any means but you did say he “failed”. 12 years in so far and you’ll soon see that unless you’re on scene and have an AED ready to go 2 seconds after they go into cardiac arrest you ain’t saving them.
She was 94. Just wait until you actually do some work as a paramedic. Coding a 94 year old is never going have a happy ending. You break every rib at the family's behest to what, get them back for a few pain filled hours at best before they code again. If you think people magically resuscitate in those types of situations or that not achieving ROSC in every situation is a failure, you're not going to last as a paramedic.
I know how coding the elderly works, I'm also coming form the families perspective if someone came to your elderly families aid with the ability to help them and they passed plus one stole her money I would call that a failure on his part and his departments fault.
What an idiotic thing to say. "Failed" to save the life of an elderly individual. The only thing that can be criticised from this story is the Paramedics awful conduct.
It’s the UK. I don’t think you can just spuriously sue people for a million quid if they stole £60 from you. It doesn’t work like that here. You can only really claim back the the amount owed and sometimes things like damages for injuries and lost earnings if an accident has seriously injured you and a company was to blame. But our legal system isn’t as mental so you can’t get ££££££s because someone hurt your feelings.
I used to be a paramedic, the trust people put in you is unreal.
I had one old lady ask me to open a bottom drawer and open her Quality street tin. I did as she asked, I didn’t expect to see it stuffed with money.
She told me it was over £5000 for her funeral fund.
I don’t know why she wanted to show me it, but I shut the tin and put it back. I told her I was flattered she wanted to show it to me, but best she didn’t show it to other people.
To know someone could have taken advantage of her or anyone else who’s that trusting is just sickening.
You do, but you’d be surprised what they let you get away with. I know people working who allegedly have had multiple DUIs, drug possession, domestic violence, and firearm charges to name a few.
I'd let him have it, Paramedics aren't paid nearly enough for what they do.
That said, I worked in peoples homes, while in active addiction and never stole once. Even the time I was ill, working in a kitchen and turned round to see a SHELF full of fent patches. I felt like it was a test from god. Told my mate and he was like... why didn't you take at least 1 box? I still don't know. But I didn't.
I mean if I saw the video I'd probably challenge him on it and act based on his response. If you read the whole comment and not just the first paragraph; you might have a sense of the nuance I'm applying to the situation. Are you in politics?
I did read the whole thing but the 2nd part was irrelevant and not the same. Here, we are talking about stealing actual cash from and old person who has just died and you are talking about taking a box of fent patches off of a funded nursing home. Both are theft, but the former directly hurts the family.
It was from an elderly woman with terminal cancer. So, having passed a similar test as this paramedic failed. I feel well placed to make judgement.
Don't forget stress can make people do silly things, they aren't robots and seeing someone die or dead can be pretty traumatic. Again, speaking from direct experience.
Ultimately the service lost the resources of one individual because he thought about taking some money. That isn't ideal.

Not to be confused with Brock turner who changed his name to his birth middle name Allen turner who also a rapist who escaped just punishment
The wheel turns. Somebody do something
You are that someone.
Everyone is that someone. We all have a civic responsibility to our communities.
Make more noise. Contact your local government. Join local activist groups.
It's naff to say this but be the change you want to see in the world.
Oklahoma Rapist Jesse Butler
He made a real Titley of himself on that camera
He is not going to stop stealing. He is just going to be wary of cameras. Most homes do not have them.
The way he seems to check the corners after makes me think he is normally wary of cameras and just forgot to check this time. Seemed to have an “oh shit” moment and quickly looked
I know of someone who lost their job doing the same thing for $20.

You sounds like a good person. Don’t lose your integrity. Good luck on your studies!!
Bet it's not the first time he's done that.
How can you live with yourself, honestly.

Welp, she's not gonna need it anymore
Him probably
What a pos
60 bucks, must have been worth it I guess
I thought it was only firefighters pulling this crap smh
What a piece of shit
Did he lose his job? Don’t you need a criminal history check to be a paramedic?
You do, but you’d be surprised what they let you get away with. I know people working who allegedly have had multiple DUIs, drug possession, domestic violence, and firearm charges to name a few.
Is this the uk?
Ahh no, US of course. My bad
Ah right here’s different lol
Cold hearted😔
last day at work
You can't take it with you

Soooo paramedics arent paid enough and you think the family should "let him have it". Like its their problem or responsibility.
I mean if I saw the video I'd probably challenge him on it and act based on his response. If you read the whole comment and not just the first paragraph; you might have a sense of the nuance I'm applying to the situation. Are you in politics?

This gets a full, meh, from me
Paramedics are just the worst.
Ugh yeah. Hate how they just show up to help people 😒/s obviously
