• Imagine watching a WW2 documentary and suddenly Himmler is promoting Raid Shadow Legends

It’s a documentary about Kriegsmarine, and Dönitz goes like: “Yeah, we’ve built those two huge battleships, unfortunately they were both sunken. But good news, you know where you can experience commanding each of them? This documentary is sponsored by the World Of Warships!”

"Thanks to Alan Turing and his Enigma machine, the allies were able to decipher the Axis' secret messages. If you also don't want your messages decrypted, why not trying Nord VPN?"

Many simply perished at camps due to poor malnutrition. But do you know what has great nutrition? Our sponsor today, Hello Fresh! Delivered weekly so you would never starve!

Futurama was funny. This reality isnt

Yeah, it's Torment Nexus, but just for real this time.

"The plan is to attack Norway... Speaking of nords, NordVPN will make this invasion much easier. Just set your location to somewhere, like say, the bombed out rubble of a blitzed London. And your enemies will be none the wiser as you March on their territory."

imagine a WW2 documentary and then an ad for gas against cockroaches or whatever comes and h tler promotes it lmaooooo

"I've got the final solution to your infestation"

Fuck I feel terrible for laughing…

Or watching as something late at night and Peter North starts glazing toaster streudels

    Himmler’s Hirn heißt HALO INFINITE

"The nazis forced prisoners in concentration camps to work night and day, only to later throw them in ovens. JUST LIKE YOU CAN THROW YOUR ROAST INTO YOUR OWN BRAND NEW PHILIPS OVEN! ONLY 499.99!"

find zhe tampon thats just reich for you, at Valgreens!

me watching Ancient Aliens (anal probing episodes) and getting an ad with an AIyylmao promoting fiber and bowel movement supplements

    More like War Thunder

Haha Himmler was a nerd alright. Nothing against Raid Shadow Legends, I just started playing it myself haha

  • It hasn’t even started and I’m already over this whole AI thing

I was done with AI like 3 years ago. Now I'm congratulations.

For this joke to have made more sense you should’ve said “I was well done with AI”

AI was cool when it was just a neat chat bot that was actually pleasant to talk to and could provide some pretty good writing. AI stopped being cool when it turned into that one nepobaby at work who keeps failing upward despite being a completely mediocre employee.

this comment has to be ai generated tf lmfao

    Seriously wtf?

im pretty sure its a reference to over done steak being "congratulations" instead of "well done" but it just does not fit at all

    That was It!

Dw op I thought the joke was very funny

I was already confused by his joke. Now I'm mourning

What was that? Are you hallucinating?

It's a play on the "medium, rare, well done, congratulations" steak cooking scale meme

Oh it's started alright. It just hasn't hit peak stupidity yet. Try building a pc right now, it's not pretty. RAM is absurdly expensive because all of it is going to AI.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn... about those inferior tobaccos, now that I've found Chesterfield!

I think we can start saying that it started

  • Good luck doing that to the stuff I'm pirating

Piracy is looking more and more appealing by the minute.

Nothing stopping you, it's easier and more convenient than ever.

If you feel like expounding on that/pointing me in the right direction in my DMs feel free. I’m fed up with this bullshit. Paid for all the services and have been fucked over too many times.

Honestly just look at the piracy subs most of them have a pinned post with lists of websites known to be as safe as a piracy site can be. No streaming service comes close to having the amount of content that piracy sites seem to

I have a dumb question. Can I just search those terms in the search bar? Or do I need an actual name for the subs?

Not sure if I can link to a specific sub but if you literally look up piracy you'll find what you need in the sub's sidebar

The seas are looking plentiful lately laddie

I wish I knew the basics. I dont even know where to start I am so non-tech-savvy

There's a piracy subreddit to get you started

There’s a lot of Free Media out there. Heck Yeah, I would check some of the .coms

Every movie will start having approximately 300% more horny MILFs.

  • any product advertised so invasively goes into the must avoid at all cost list

I do the same thing if an ad bothers me it goes on the black list and I won’t ever buy from or use them. The top of my shit list is liberty mutual, their invasive ads that consist of them repeating their name so it gets stuck in viewer’s heads is so awful.

I don’t watch any streaming or tv with ads, but when visiting friends or family these ads come on so much, its just annoying to hear that name just repeated as their “jingle”

I haven't had a Yorkie chocolate bar for 20 years because of their sexist ad campaign.

I wonder if Pepsi will start inserting Coca-Cola ads in the most obtrusive and obnoxious way possible for this very reason

How is this any worse than normal product placement though?

Assuming they refine it and make it actually look like it belongs in the scene.

  • ¡Cerveza Cristal!

No, no, that was actually awesome. And had some insane guitar riff.

  • That's a copyright violation though, isn't it? Didn't one of those clean language filter companies get sued over this because you're changing the content as published, especially for financial gain?

They'll likely come up with some legal bs in their agreements to accomodate for that.

  • Wait until Neuralink inserts ads into your dreams.

Surely no one's gonna be stupid enough to agree to have a control chip planted into their brain just because Elon said it's the future.

    Surely.

Idk how willing people would be to have chips put in their brains in general, but if Elons track record is anything to go by, a company people somewhat trust will do it, then he'll buy the company and take credit for it. Capitalism basically ensures that no matter how much you trust a company or their intentions, it's always possible for a richer asshole to buy them out.

Spot on. People need to stop obsessing over the billionaires. If it wasn't them it would be someone else. There's no shortage of scumbags in the world for capitalism to channel through.

Surely no one's gonna be stupid enough to agree to have a control chip planted into their brain

    Marketed like that? No.

Marketed like a next level smartphone that can directly augment your vision to integrate with apps? Absolutely.

Have you ever sat down and talked to these people?

They’d jump at the chance to do something that stupid.

They'd do it out of spite just to "own the libs"

This does feel like something out of Futurama.

Or any movie with 'net', 'cyber', or 'hack' in the title since the 80s.

Not gonna lie, I'm surprised with how general society seems to view ai that ai/robot based horror movies aren't popping up in theaters

How else will I know that I need a pair of light speed briefs?

Wait until your generic human nutrient supplement has tiered-unlocks which let you hallucinate better tiers of food.

It reads your brain, not writes to it. We are extremely far from implants that are able to affect you. 15 years at the very least.

  • I will stop watching anything and everything I see such an ad in.

I'm already super sick and tired of the AI ads I'm starting to see from bigger companies. I'm keeping track of who's using it, and adding it to the boycott list.

  • The AI yearns for Cerveza Cristal

  • I thought adding an ad. But a character advertising something? I'm going analogue.

  • We're going to cook the planet to feed the AI monster and this is what they're using AI for? Not to cure diseases. Not to improve our lives. Just force us to watch more ads. Awesome.

  • So the biggest Nazi bar in the world is now talking about how they can make ads even shittier?

    Expected. Not welcomed but expected.

  • How close are we to dream ads from Futurama? Those underwear looked pretty cool.

You joke, but I bet they want to do that for real.

  • So you’re telling me the pirates that steal this shit are gonna have better versions than those that pay money. I think physical media is gonna make a come back if you won’t be able to trust your online streaming service not to adulterate your content.

  • It's time to block all those services

I'm down. How do I even do that?

  • Please do it so I can convert 100% to piracy.

  • Its hilarious if you don't understand that product placement in shows/movies is VERY intentional and predates AI by by about 50 years.

Product placement is thought out and put smootly into stuff, to the point it's not disruptive, not to mention it usually makes sense in context. Just go to the link and see the examples Twitter is providing. It's just jarring and I'd argue far worse than an actual ad, cause it's intentionally made to mislead, not to mention the complete non-consent of the people involved (yeah, yeah, that'll probably be buried somewhere in their contracts, but not any less predatory).

This AI shit was particularly bad, but not all analog product placement is very well thought out and smooth. An example that immediately comes to mind is the, I think, Ford ads inside of White Collar.
Like, every time they hop in a car the characters would be like
"Oh wow, hands free Bluetooth, we must be living in the future!"
"Oh yes, with my All New 2018 Ford Focus, safety is always on the mind! Especially with these side door airbags."
And this was pre/proceeded by a long shot of the front of the car and it driving smoothly through the city streets.

This is so much worse than product placement, and since you can’t understand that and why it’s a problem, is exactly why this will continue until it’s pervasive enough that it’s the norm

product placement and ai generated ads are vastly different. we all know product placement is a thing and i’m sure most of us have an opinion on that already, this is another beast entirely.

Dude product placement has been a thing for at least a century. The reason soap operas are called soap operas was because they were essentially made to be body soap ads. It goes back to radio.

The issue is that when product placement is bad, people tend to notice and make fun of it. I don't think anyone is thinking that ai ad placement is going to be a subtle act of an actor ordering a jack and coke when they are at a bar, or a specific brand of cereal eaten for breakfast. Especially if the example of joey from friends wearing a very visible pair of beats headphones that because tech isn't there yet can't even color match the TV show. Or another still I saw showing a can of coke in someone's hand that was brighter than the rest of the scene because both things are very obviously and badly ai generated.

It's just out of place, and when it's noticeable and will potentially be pervasive I'm pretty sure people are going to be a lot more turned out.

Obviously people understand that. The issue is that the AI implementation is infinitely more intrusive, unnatural, and distracting.

They really just exposed that they never watched any Bayformers movie lmfao

  • I'm not even gonna be shocked when the lightspeed briefs advert starts appearing in my dreams.

  • Watching Sixteen Candles, Andy leaves the house to find Jake leaning on his 2026 Tesla Model Fart.

    Fabulous.

Watching Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom, and the fascists are suddenly peddling Nutella.

    Stupendous.

  • “He would not fucking say that” is about to be a very common phrase

  • "What are you going to do? Dice me?"

  • [deleted]

It doesn't want you to do it so straight. Lets say you have some Shitony headphones you saw an ad on a TV and Phislops from China. Shitony will feel more known to you even if you have no idea are they any better in quality cause you saw them already somewhere. So you have bigger chance to buy Shitony than Phislops even if Shitony is slightly more expensive. Sometimes ads are made only for brand recognition. Like everyone knows that Raid Shadow Legends is shit. But when you would have a desire to play some mobile trash idle rpg to kill time the first game you would think about would probably be Raid Shadow Legends. So it works on many different levels. Not many people research what they buy.

  • How you doin'?

What is the Mangrate, you ask!

  • Where was he hiding the can?

  • So the episode where Phoebe is stuck on the phone will make zero sense if Ross is standing next to her using the new iPhone or whatever... excellent work.

At least it'll be hilarious, but what a shitty way to ruin content for money.

  • Oh yay, and coke ad being intigrated into my gay furry porn, if brands freaked out from being played before someone saying the fuck word how would they feel about this shit

  • At least Cerveza Cristal put actual effort inserting ads into Star Wars.

  • Damn who knew that stealing would not only be free, but also the right thing to do!?

  • Wasn’t there something back in the 60s or 70s where people got upset about commercials doing basically this exact thing, where the characters would be using the product in the ad with no real signal that the show was going to break, like with this cigarette commercial featuring The Flintstones? I thought that there were regulations against this kind of advertising because of that.

  • So we got Rivermind without the “life saving” technology before GTA 6. Got it

  • Tell me your product ain't shit without telling me it ain't shit.

  • it's like the cerveza cristal ads but terrible

  • Today with services like Streamio+RealDB+Torrentio that make pirating completely effortless and literally better than paid services I really don’t know why people still pay for this shit. Maybe I’m just poor but idk man I feel like paid services are shit

  • I'm sure there will be some sort of creative expression/copyright/rights block to this though no? Like if, as an example, you're watching a video put out by an environmentally friendly company and an ad for BP gets mixed in with their very own creative content, not only are you soiling the original message but the company could be firmly opposed to BP and would not want their name anywhere near them. And who gets blamed for that? BP didn't ask to be put there, soooo...

  • Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
    Chicken pizzas, three for one
And wet look hair gel, half price off.

  • Fukkk Ten, formerly Twitter.

  • I had to follow the link just to make sure it wasn't posted on April 1st. Sadly, it was not

  • What the fuck is this shit

  • Ad breaks are part of the reason I hardly watch tv. I don't know how people stand them.

  • I know this isn't the same, but this reminds me of Reddit ads where they make it look like another post in the stream of other posts in the subreddit. You get roped in with the title and formatting only to realize it is an ad.

  • Cerveza Cristal makes a comeback

  • They’ve already been doing it…. Smh

  • Ok, so. If that tech works like that, I would be genuinly immensely impressed. Terrible in use, but so impressive in effect

it's probably just "good enough" for the average consumer, that doesn't pay all that much attention to what they're watching

they probably won't be inserting those into Breaking Bad or Silence of the Lambs. They'd insert that into Friends or Marvel TV show #45

I don't think it matters where they insert it though. It just shouldn't exist period.

oh no, definitely. But it's not something you can put back in the can at this point

Game idea: put this on The Truman Show and try to guess which ads are actually part of the movie.

that sounds no joke funny as shit. Probably for like an hour tops, but still

Just check the examples they give. The tech likely works. It's the one of the most ghoulish, evil things I've seen from genAI so far, but it seems to work.

I just checked. Ghoulish indeed, but.... I wont deny its impressive from a technological standpoint. Still obviously AI, but still

  • this was made during a recruiting hackathon they had the other day.

this is not a legitimate product they’re working on, just something 1 out of 420 contestants came up with.
