The problem I see with these new gun laws is if you enacted them 2 years ago, it wouldn't have stopped this tragedy. So feels like these new laws will more to punish the law abiding gun overs over some religious nutters.
Also there a bunch of 'why should city people have guns'. Hunting is a great sport. Its been part of many peoples culture pretty much forever. And it is needed for reducing pest numbers. I can see in ~20 years time people, complaining about how much damage deer/goat/fox/pigs etc are doing to native plants and wildlife and its going to be well you need people out there actively reducing their numbers. To me it seems strange Greens are so anti-gun when hunting is so needed to protect the Australian enviroment.
