Congrats Melbourne and Hobart. Those ugly Christmas jumpers and hot roast dinners will actually make sense for a change. The paper crowns won't disintegrate on my sweaty noggin either.
Yep, landlord only does a temporary fix for it every year. Even the aircon guy that comes and does it says it’s gonna blow up sooner or later if they don’t do a bigger fix
Yes, I recalled that just as I were posting my comment. It is more typical for Perth to have 36 degrees heat then, but it has been reducing in recent years.
I'll give them some benefit of the doubt, that they're designed for TV and maybe animated, so for Sydney you'd see raindrops falling (maybe showers not full on rain?)
On a small screen they're almost indistinguishable.
If it's 40, it's going to be pretty dry. The hotter the air is, the more water it can hold so the lower the relative humidity goes. Conversely the more humid it is, the more energy is required to heat up the air by a degree. That's why on raw temperature numbers, Victoria often has higher summer temps than North Queensland, even though I can tell you from personal experience North Queensland is way hotter.
I'd swap Melbournes 17 degrees for any of thr last 4 or so days in Western Sydney where it has ranged between 35-41 every day. Not even a second thought.
We’re not n Bairnsdale VIC at the moment but will be departing for Tassie tonight, gonna be there until the 29th so should be the coldest Chrissy I’ve had in a long while
Different country, different hemisphere. Australians love a hot and sunny Christmas. Perfect for the beach, pool etc. Can’t get any better. Hopefully your summers are a bit better if you prefer a warmer climate.
Ya we can get up to +40C in July. We spent November in Oz visiting family. The weather shock coming back was tough. Left Brisbane at 34C and arrived back to -20C.
Being cold on xmas day is always disappointing. Was feeling sad it would be too cold to swim in the pool in Adelaide but then I saw the forecast for Melbourne lol.

Right lol. I'm going from NSW to Victoria for a beach holiday because my kid lives there. I'd better pack warm clothes 🤣
Bloody white christmas
North QLD, gonna die up here in a lather of sweat 😅
Could be worse. You could be in Perth
Nah, I'll take a dry 40 over a humid 34 any day.
Hard agree after yesterday.
Tis but a dry heat
Knock it off Hudson
I love a cool Christmas in Melb. Sweating through high 30's isn't fun for anyone.
Cries in broken aircon in Perth ðŸ˜ðŸ¥µ
same, happens every year
Wouldn’t be Christmas otherwise……
Your aircon breaks every year?
Yep, landlord only does a temporary fix for it every year. Even the aircon guy that comes and does it says it’s gonna blow up sooner or later if they don’t do a bigger fix
Dry heat tho, should be fine
Groan! Why do we always have to have 40 degree temperatures for Christmas in Perth?
The temp literally ramps up to 40C on Xmas, then drops to 27 the following day.

Perth has some personal unresolved issues with Santa Claus
So messed up
Last year was a cold Christmas

This came up on in my memories today, the weather forecast for Xmas back in 2021. It was the Saturday.

17 is beach weather btw
A sip of Magic then straight into the surf. No wetsuit needed.
No magic thanks.
I like my suffering raw.
I'd take 17 over 40
Yeah! Fck you Melbourne and making my toes cold in my Santa themed thongs!
YOU WANTED A WINTER WONDERLAND. YOU GET COLD TOES AN BBQs OUT OF GAS. AND YOU'LL LIKE IT
Yes Ma’am!
Looks like the salads and ice cream are out and a roast and steamed pudding is on the menu for Melbourne now.
As a Melburnian I’m grateful for a cool day, no sweaty cheese on pre dinner antipasto plate.
Who designed those weather icons? So unclear, I can't tell if Sydney has rain in there or if it's just a weird shaped cloud
Perth at 40C and Melbourne at 17C get the same icon - that makes sense.
True, they're awful. Totally non-distinct.
I'll give them some benefit of the doubt, that they're designed for TV and maybe animated, so for Sydney you'd see raindrops falling (maybe showers not full on rain?)

Suck it Easterners, proper Xmas weather here in the west.
it's a dry heat
I believe it will be humid - or so I'm told. Beats sub-20s though! Are they even Australians still?

If you're not from Perth, you're saying that to be a shit, right?
Melbourne here. Couldn't be happier 😎
I'm Jelly.
goddamn, looks like i'm in the swimming pool from 10.30 onwards if it's gonna be 33 up here
I live in sydney and I'm jealous of melbourne. 17℃ and partly cloudy is perfect weather to me
Adelaide wins Christmas 🤶
I'd swap Melbournes 17 degrees for any of thr last 4 or so days in Western Sydney where it has ranged between 35-41 every day. Not even a second thought.
How about this heat?
And Perth takes the prize again ….most likely hottest capital city in the world on Xmas Day ?
Good luck Perth. :(
As a West Australian, fuck you the rest of Australia.Â
Looking forward to Bris dropping down to 33.
So grateful for Melbourne weather right now. A "cold" Christmas is the best.
We’re not n Bairnsdale VIC at the moment but will be departing for Tassie tonight, gonna be there until the 29th so should be the coldest Chrissy I’ve had in a long while
Why are you like this, Melbourne? So sick of it!
Go West. I love it here.
Jealous of Sydney Melbourne Hobart and Adelaide.
Thank god Melbourne. 17 is beach without dying from sun. 17 is enjoy some cold beers. 17 is not sweating and horribly tired by 6pm.
It's okay, it's a dry heat
Melbourne fuvk off
Perfect
Wear a jacket in Melbourne or Hobart. Things everywhere else
Same temps as here in Alberta, Canada just add a - to the numbers. lol
A conventional Sydney Christmas then 🤣
oh well at least it's a dry heat (no seriously I'm going to fucking die!)
Thank god. I won’t have to clean the bbq
I hope you guys enjoy it. Here’s my forecast

I would freeze to death

As a West Australian, no, we dont
RIP Perth.
Fuck Melbourne
Perth says fuck you.
Some parts of Tasmania have snow forecasted
White Christmas for Melbourne?
Hot cocoa day 😆

We're seeing similar temps in Charlotte, North Carolina on Christmas. CRAZY!!
Bloody Melbourne
Who decides the order??? Madness
Camping in the rain. Awesome :(
What's with the cold in Melbourne?
Has Melbourne reduced its carbon emissions by too much?
Ok, so? This is probably consistent with most years. Happy Karma to you I guess...?
Ew, I'm Melbourne. I love hot weather.
