Looking to make meaningful friendships in Aussie. I live close to Melbourne. Where is the best place to start?

A little back story:

I moved from overseas to work, looking to settle here. I came on my own and know absolutely no one. I am generally a very bubbly and friendly person, always smiling and up for a good laugh (I do have an unfriendly looking face, so I have been told lol). So yeah just looking for some people to hang out with on weekends etc.
