Hello there, I will be visiting Berlin for a few days in late January. I've searched for how to dress and this is basically what I found: - for upper body, vest + t-shirt + sweater + thick waterproof coat. A pair of gloves for hands - For legs, anything works. I read jeans are good, but I'm not too sure. - About footwear, I read basically everywhere that snow boots are required + good socks (like wool ones).
Is this everything that's needed? Is there something wrong?
Key is layers, so that you can take someone off or throw something on in case you are hot/cold. For legs, get some thin leggings to wear under your jeans, it can make a big difference when it's cold. And you don't need snow boots, it snows in Berlin for maybe 1-3 days a year if we are lucky. Any regular winter shoes would work as long as you don't have a naked gap between them and your jeans, and it's best to make sure they're waterproof.
Decent winter jacket, Jeans and sneakers. If you plan longer walks: gloves and something for your head

A hat would probably be useful, too! It doesn't get massively cold here, but the high level of moisture in the air just above the freezing point can make it feel colder than it is.
it's often very humid here, so a jacket that holds moisture can end up soaking you. you start out all bundled up tight but a few blocks later you open your coat. winters have been mellow, with occasional cold snaps. snow is rare anymore.

also get some thermal insoles for you chosen shoes that you want to wear
other wise you will feel the cold concrete in your feet

Definitely wear a pair of leggings/ tights/whatsoever underneath your jeans. The wind can be really icy

Not a cotton shirt! In this humidity, get a long sleeved shirt with a (zipped) turtle neck, in fabric that wicks moisture. A jeans alternative is light thermal trousers - in black of course.
