I’ve been hearing about it for a while now. And every time I’m reminded I get a little frightened. I think I’m developing an irrational fear of the earth stop spinning and then falling or something. Can someone explain why this is happening and if it’s normal. Is it because we aren’t recycling efficiently like they do in other parts of the world. Like how do we get it back to normal.
I know I’m going to forget about this but I’d rather have some information in the back of my head for next time I stumble on that piece of information again
What in the world are you talking about? Anyone who told you the day is now 25 hours long is an idiot, you should stop listening to them.
Google articles. They always get me.
I go on google to search something and then I find myself opening extra tabs to read all the articles in front of me
Google will gladly serve you absolute nonsense and lies if you're gullible enough to believe them.
Okay that makes me feel better because today’s not the first time I read about the earths rotation slowing down. This time I finally decided to ask because although I know it wouldn’t happen in my lifetime just knowing it as a possibility freaked me out a bit. Okay so cool. These articles are just lying. They never seemed to explain in depth why it was happening too besides the pull from the moon and yadda yadda.
Okay cool. Thanks
The Earth's rotation is slowing down, at a very slow rate. As the moon orbits Earth, it takes longer to orbit than it does for the Earth to rotate once. Because of that, tidal forces will gradually accelerate the moon's orbital motion, causing it to gradually move away from us (at a rate of about 3.8 cm a year).
Consequently, the Earth rotational momentum is transferred to the moon to do this, and as a result, the day gets longer. That being said, the Earth's day isn't going to be 25 hours for another 140 million years.
There is no issue with Earth Spin . Will slow over the next couple million years. I think you at more risk falling out of bed.
There is not anyone saying 25 hours in a day. It's bull twoddle
