There’s a lavender “farm” in Chandler off Ray & Kyrene at the Chateau de Vie mansion. Hard to tell if it’s just a tourist trap/gimmick, I’ve never been inside.
There’s a legit lavender farm up in Pine if you want to make a day trip out of it. The shop is a bit small but packed with tons of stuff to choose from.
The one in Pine is terrific. Plus check out the businesses in the rest of this tiny town. All private owner places, no chain stores except the Chevron gas station. All within an hour of Scottsdale.
Yes they do. We toured it with their docent in October with our daughter and granddaughter. Refreshingly they neither solicited nor expected a tip at the tour conclusion. No pressure at the gift shop (a totally separate building about 100 yards from the mansion. Very, very interesting history considering it wasn’t built until 1984! Worth the drive! They have lavender during the growing season but I’m not sure about one personally harvesting it.
Not an adult past, the family who owns it is Mormon lol. Used to be more for wedding venues and prom photoshoots etc but they got tired of doing events and wanted to pivot to something else. The prices are a little high for my taste for their lavender bath soaps, balms, scrubs etc but the house is nice. They do have some lavender they grow but it's not a lot so I'm not sure if they're shipping in lavender too
Edit: just talked to my husband who knows the family better, there WAS an adult past to the house and when the current owners bought the house, they covered up the wall murals with more innocent art lol
Where exactly in central Az? That’s a pretty broad area. How far are you willing to drive? I’m in yavapai county and there are several lavender farms, however this isn’t really the time of year for harvest. The best time for flowers is summer and greens are usually at the end of fall when growers trim back the plants for winter
I’m not sure which farms even allow you to harvest or their prices. I’m pretty sure that unless you find a farm that has several acres that there will be a limit. But either way you won’t find a single farm that has any harvestable flowers right now- it’s winter. Lavender blooms in the summer. Your best bet unfortunately is to order some.
Uhm, no? Lol. Thats literally NOT what I asked for. Did I ask for ways of procuring it? I need enough to make essential oil so my one bedroom apartment isn't going to suffice in "just growing some"
I mean you’ll definitely get more product for a better bargain on Amazon but it will likely be lesser quality, not as fresh, and obviously doesn’t support local. You can get 1/2 pound of lavender for $10 on amazon that was harvested who knows where and who knows when or purchase online from one of the recommended lavender farms in these comments that are in Arizona but hours-drive from you. You could also buy natural essential oil from any of these farms instead of making your own, you know, less steps and all that.
ETA: if you haven’t already, you could also try calling any of these farms and see if you could reserve a time to pick your own plant. If you asked nicely I’m sure someone might say yes!

My wife and I went to this farm over the summer and picked a few bunches. Absolutely recommend it. Looking to go back. When we were there, there was a yoga class happening in the field.

Most of the population is currently in retirement. A few of us have been setting up a volunteer group to help them out as they need things. The fact is though that in 10 to 15 years our community is going to change. And I’m kinda looking forward to it tbh! This is such an amazing town that is landlocked, and still county island.
There’s quite a few of us my age and younger that are working to keep Oracle Historacle ❤️

It not in central az but red rock ranch and farm in concho has big lavender farm with a lot of different varieties. Bonus wine tasting on certain days also if your into that. As far as foraging your own I'm not to familiar with where you will find any on a regular basis. Good luck and good times hunting if you are foraging.

There is actually a species of lavender called desert lavender that is native to Arizona. The other main varieties come from Europe and the Mediterranean such as English, French or Spanish lavender. All varieties of lavender can and do quite well in Arizona, it’s just a matter of picking the right variety for your specific growing conditions.
Personally, I really like English lavender, both for its taste and smell. Different essential oil brands will use different varieties and sometimes blends. I prefer the ones that only use English lavender. English is usually the one that is in spice blends and teas, it’s the sweetest and most floral smelling.

That is the #1 place im looking for is a pick your own plant place but cant find any. Maybe ill try the farmers market
