To get to a place dark enough to see a decent number of stars, enough to feel impressive, you need to drive a good 30 minutes or more west of Buckeye or Surprise.
Have you been to Estrella Star Tower? Super pretty and nice little view from the top. Then you can drive a bit more west to see some more stars

Thats what I was assuming, I live at basically in goodyear so it shouldn't be an issue!

Sun Valley Parkway, west of the White Tanks...you'll be able to see em good looking west from there.

Harquahala Mountain west of Wickenburg. Maybe camp overnight on the peak.

The best stars are in the Southern sky. Keep that in mind.
Skyline Regional Park out by Buckeye might give you dark enough skies.
Kinda the opposite of the west valley, but the saddle at 4 Peaks is the best spot for stargazing.
