If you had to pick one album, would it be humbug or FWN? and why?

personally, I’d go fwn but my opinion changes a lot with these two

  • Humbug. I don’t think there’s ever been a better back to back 5 songs then Fire and the Thud, Cornerstone, Damce Little Liar, Pretty Visitors, and The Jeweller’s Hands.

In My opinion one comes to mind: Mardy Bum Perhaps Vampires Is A Bit Strong But... When The Sun Goes Down From The Ritz To The Rubble A Certain Romance

That one is quite good as well

  • Tbh fwn. Because it has a song for most moods yk? Like only ones who know for sad or florcent adolescent for happy. I love Humbug but I feel like it mostly fits one vibe if that makes sense. But it is really close

Disagree IMO, Potion Approaching, Fire and The Thud, The Jeweller's Hand, and Cornerstone are a lot slower.

I agree those are a lot slower but there is something sad and melencholy abt only ones who know. I do love Humbug but I think fwm is my favorite. It’s my favorite or second favorite out of all their albums.

I get that, only get that feeling from The Jeweller's Hands, and Secret Door. FWN is also probably up there with WPSIATWIN and Humbug.

Secret door is one of my favorite songs it’s def my favorite on Humbug I can see how you get that feeling from it and the Jewellers hand too.

  • Favorite Worst Nightmare I love to scream the words when I'm pissed, dance to them to move on, or cry to them when I'm down.

  • Cornerstone from Humbug is probably my favorite Arctic Monkeys song overall. I love the lyrics, the melancholic but sweet-sounding melody, and backwards guitars.

BUT, I'd probably rate FWN higher overall. Many of AM's most iconic songs are on that album: Brianstorm, Teddy Picker, Fluorescent Adolescent, Do Me A Favour, 505, etc. "Only Ones Who Know" is also a great track. In fact I could make an argument for FWN being the best Arctic Monkeys album overall, although I go back and forth between FWN, Suck It And See, and AM as my favorite.

FWN and then SIAS for me as well, though Humbug has plenty of appeal and got better to me after a few listens.

  • FWN, it has become my go to Arctic Monkeys album, it´s a classic for a reason

  • Favourite worst nightmare easilyyy

  • FWN.

Humbug took me literal years to learn to love.

  • Favorite Worst Nightmare by a loooong shot. Amazing catchy songs with crazy energy. First four tracks are like a shot of adrenaline and the rest is Well paced, never drags while also having THREE of their best ballads (Fluorescent Adolescent, Do Me A Favour, 505)

Humbug has some great tunes but overall I don’t think it’s a high point for them, not a lot of hooks and too many meat-headed guitar riffs…don’t kill me plz

  • FWN for sure. They were absolutely locked in. Super tight musicianship.

  • Humbug cuz the album’s an 11/10

  • Humbug. I like the vibe of the album better. I love FWN too but a lot of the song’s on Humbug are far better imo.

  • Humbug. More experimental sound (I like the psychedelic and desert influences) and deeper songwriting. Gets better with every listen.

  • I like that FWN transitions the fast paced debut album into Humbug so there are elements of both. I used to think when I was younger that FWN had the special spice but over time I've come to absolutely love writing on Humbug. The sensational drumming Matt does on Crying Lightning is nothing short of amazing to me and the overall feeling of Cornerstone's tongue-in-cheek lyrics are unmatched

  • Humbug, the album made me dive deeper to another Arctic Monkeys song bcs its the first album that i heard(After AM)

  • Humbug only because I skip a few more songs on FWN

  • As an album, Humbug, but only because it's a no-skipper for me. Humbug is structured in a way that you sit down, and finish it in one listen, while FWN has huge jumps in the tracks' intensity and overall mood, which kinda breaks the whole vibe for me.

But FWN has a bigger emotional scale, so it's kind of a wild card for me.

I know its a messy opinion, sorry, and i love them both tbf. 👻🍪

  • Humbug is better as an album experience, FWN has massive tracks

  • Honestly, even if FWN is "less optimal" in terms of the energy jumps between the songs, I just can't pick between the two albums, they are both filled with masterpiece songs and are the two AM go-to albums for me to put on when I wanna listen to AM🥇/🥇
