The DOL successfully sued my employer and I am owed wages and damages that were not previously paid. Yes, the case is concluded and my employer has been complying with various aspects of the verdict. Does anyone know how long it might take for me to get my money and how it might happen? I don't know if I'll have to fill out a form to request it. i did find the DOL workers owed wages and it's not listed there but that appears to only be if they can't find you and I've lived in the same place my entire employment (and I'm still employed at the job in question)

During the investigation I did receive a letter from the DOL so I believe my employer has provided them with at the least my name and address. I'm listed as being owed in the findings with an amount due. The topic is hush hush at the office so I don't dare ask my boss

  • Do you have a hearing officer attached to the case? Call them

how would i know who that is? i wasn't involved in the filing or the investigation. I received one letter asking if i wanted to make a statement but I chose not to since it's a small departmnt and I'd be easily identified even in an anoymous statement. I've been looking at the court records online

  • You csn go to the dept of labor and ask

It’s a federal agency and I don’t live anywhere near their facilities

  • For context, what country are you in?

I only know four countries that use the acronym DOL.
    Philippines, India, Colombia, United States

As an English speaker, it is possible that is from India and not the USA.
That being said, his other posts mentions he works at Target, a US only company.
I'll hazard a guess that is lives in the US.

    Yes I’m in the Us

However the company is not Target to be clear. I have two jobs

Although interesting fact - Target has corporate employees in India though no stores outside the US (the dabbled in Canada and failed hard)

  • Thanks for the clarification. I have had cases with the state department of labor. They took a long time (years) . There was no suit involved. I had to continuously follow up

You have to find a way to follow up. Law suits are generally public knowledge.

Yes it's already taken years and the lawsuit is settled. Those records are public and I've reviewed them and am identified in the documents. 'm just looking for personal experience on how people might have received the money they are owed and the timeline. I don't need to conctact them

  • When I received money from the Depsrtment of Labor cases (which didn't go to court) it took approximately three years. I know if I had not followed up it would have taken longer. Any incidents like the government shut down make it longer. In my case it was Covid that shut down the government. Factor in those things. Persist

3 years from the conclusion of the case?

  • The department of labor is a state agency. You can calk them.

I’m referring to the federal agency. My state does not call the state equivalent the department of labor.

Also this was a federal case not state. The feds sued my employer and are recovering waves and damages

  • Well the #case# as you put it is very different. However ove of the factors in gettung the settlement was the government shut down. At the end of the day I got the settlement.
