All jokes aside, there's a reason we don't currently have a single active duty battleship in the fleet, you know what that is...
They are inefficient and don't work.
We don't use massive gun systems anymore because missiles do the job much better and more accurately. The only good thing about a gun is that shells are cheaper. A DDG can carry tones of missiles, a cannon, and you can field 3 times as may for the same number of personnel alone. Battleships are limited use and expensive. As for the few things that a battleship can offer, it does not outweigh the costs.
I literally wrote a paper on this topic, playing devil's advocate for pro battle barge style ship investments, and to this day I still can't justify it.
So ya, even after all the stupidity of the "golden fleet" and trying to name it the "Trump Class" battleship, they don't work, and I doubt Congress would ever approve spending on this.
