BUTLERIAN JIHAD 10,000 YEARS THOU SHALL NOT MAKE A MACHINE IN THE LIKENESS OF A HUMAN MIND BUTLERIAN JIHADISTS RISE
It's astonishing how many people seemingly think that the entirety of the EU consists of a single person that handles everything and can only do one thing at a time.
And every time it's the bottle caps fault somehow.
The water bottle cap shit is fucking annoying. No one was losing it anyway. Now it just awkwardly bumps against my beard or makes my milk explode out of the carton when it's almost full. It doesn't actually reduce waste and is only another ploy to try and pretend that it's on us to reduce waste instead of big corporations
Have you ever been to a beach around the Mediterranean? They can be absolutely covered in bottle caps, drifting from the sea where they end up after being discarded and thrown about by weather from across Europe.
It's not waste reduction, it's pre-emptive cleanup.
I had that problem for a month and now I don't want to go back, it's more comfortable. You can have it open without needing to worry about what to do with it. Also, lots of people throw plastic bottles outside, idk where you live where nobody litters.
Your "this is a capitalist conspiracy" theory makes no sense because this whole stuff is mocked by corporations and neoliberal politicians, and supported by leftist politicians. You are using capitalism as an excuse to be reactionary and selfish.
Yeah, a huge portion of the world's ocean plastic waste is fishing nets, which, when worn out, are simply unhooked and left in the ocean. This is really an attempt to shift everything onto ordinary consumers. The same goes for paper straws; they're inconvenient, and they don't help nature at all (they're even harmful, and they harm people). Some people can have an allergic reaction to the glue and pieces of paper. I once almost choked on a torn piece of paper straw when I was drinking my hot chocolate too vigorously to prevent the straw from turning to mush. Maybe VkusVill (the place where I drank that hot chocolate) just doesn't buy the best straws, but I don't think that would happen with a plastic straw. Meanwhile, fishing companies don't bother at all to bring the damaged nets back to land and dispose of them.
Forcing companies to use a litter-reducing design is the complete opposite of shifting everything to consumers.
You're right that it's not the biggest problem in the world, but it is a fix, and it's a fix companies aren't getting away with offering at an increased price and leaving it up to consumers to decide if their company produces waste or not. Regulating companies to adopt better measures wholesale is the exact thing we want if we don't want the burden of environmentalism to be on individuals only.
Even if the end result irritates us, like needing to re-learn how to perform a 2-second task we've thought we've known how to do since childhood.
I think it might be a you problem struggling do drink with these caps. You might be a bit limited, and that's ok. The design is maybe not the most inclusive and a bit ableist and that could be an issue.
To be fair the "only existing a few years ago" heavily depends on what "existing" means. Like Germany's technically a very new country because it was split until 1990 but the area's been settled for thousands of years. It certainly didn't start existing 35 years ago outside of technicality.
By that logic you could argue that China is just over a hundred years old (the Qing dynasty was overthrown in 1912).
I literally gave an example already of what I meant, croatia, a nation that didnt exist properly for hundreds of years, the closest thing being the Ustase
Also, china has been ruled by their own(yes, manchu are chinese) for millenia. The best argument you can make against it is mostly the yuan dinasty
Not all AI is slop. Gosh, all this stupid ai hype train with all the crappy soulles images and videos is making machine learning and neural network development overall look bad and it's sad.
"AI" or Neural Network models can also be used for science and medical. Or perhaps even as a coding assistant (doesn't mean vibe coding tho, finalize your code yourself lol). Or even to save environment by improving energy and water management.
Blame the asshats in marketing and business who shove terms around and ruin any potential for a lay person to understand that the various different things they shoved under the same label are, in fact, different.
Most normal people just want to live their lives and “AI” is the buzzword attached to all the shit ruining their entertainment, careers, hobbies, drinking water, electricity bills, etc.
(Btw this sounds aggressive but I agree, some of the technology is useful, even good. AI, in the way it’s pitched, isn’t a real thing. Just a buzzword used to market to share holders. A lot of this stuff has been around for ages and is valuable, while the other half is garbage that’s actively damaging to society.)
Literally every single thing ever invented/discovered has its own advantages and disadvantages. So many crimes are done using knives, does that mean that knives are bad and we should hate it
Survivorship bias. That's because those inventions that had too many disadvantages either were never mass produced or the mass production was stopped. For example, glow-in-the-light watches in 20th century were very useful for soldiers to see what time it was in dark spaces, but it made the workers' bones basically crumble into literal dust, so the mass production was later stopped.
I was going to respectfully disagree with you but that fucking "Go on. Don't Hesitate. Downvote me" part is peak cringe, the same as people who say "OMG MOM I'M FAMOUS when there comment gets 5 likes
Isn't it funny how entire Reddit just blatantly hates AI and doesn't hesitate to send someone death threats over AI "Art" but god forbid someone decides to act a little childish
AI bros when I tell them AI is way more than LLMs and generative AI, and that when scientists say "AI is the future" they mean things like robotics not their AI boyfriend smut
To the people complaining about the bottle caps: You know you can just rip them off easily if it annoys you so much?
Left-wing and moderate politicians already only push these insanely low stakes environmental laws because anything more drastic would get heavy pushback from the right, but people somehow still find a way to bitch about these laws...
I mean lumo doesn't count unless you also count the minecraft assistant thing. Black Forest AI probably also doesn't count because the original meme seems to be talking primarily about llms. Europe does have quite a few LLMs. They just tend to lag behind the capabilities of American and Chinese LLMs, hence the meme. European LLMs can win on metrics that aren't pure performance however.
It's such a tiny thing in the sea of other problems that makes your life harder for no reason. I don't think I've ever seen a free-running water cap lying alone except on charity fundraisers
The community has decided that this IS an antimeme!

A machine should behave as a machine.
I vote for it

My local bus was 3 minutes late today.
GODDAMN BOTTLE CAPS.
How do you have an animated pfp ?
You gotta recycle and take public transport for like 6 years
I prefer not losing my water bottle cap over AIs tbh
i know right, otherwise the water might spill

Have you considered you maybe have a drinking problem?
I have not had any problem with the caps
Me neither, most of them let me snap them back and when they don't I am able to hold them up with the same hand I am drinking with

That is an utterly insane thing to say holy shit. Keep cooking though got a good laugh from me.
I just like people bring the ai argument and laugh at the bottle cap thingy because...

The Western mind cannot comprehend the funny number going up not being the primary motivator behind everything
To be fair, the GDP is a 27 vs 1
That's how unions work, yes.
To be fair, china has 3 times as much people (~1.4b 🇨🇳 vs ~400m 🇪🇺)
Okay nevermind, guess I was tired last night, I overlooked population
a union of smaller countries, together being a third of china's size
A third of their population
Many of them only existing a few years ago?(croatia existed only 30 years ago for example), meanwhile China existed since we shit on the woods?
I don't think that's a gotcha...
To be fair the "only existing a few years ago" heavily depends on what "existing" means. Like Germany's technically a very new country because it was split until 1990 but the area's been settled for thousands of years. It certainly didn't start existing 35 years ago outside of technicality.

The correct version of this meme is three goofy dragons. AI is a joke.
They forgot the Chinese Kimi
Holy second hand cringe
/ul I didn't know that BlackforestLabs was EU. Makes sense as to why Flux 2 was heavily censored
Also honorable mentions for China:
Kimi, Qwen, Hunyuan, Tencent
Why are we unlying on antimeme? Also I hate tencent and how they own everything
Finally an Accurate post
People acting like the bottle caps is the only thing thats happening in the EU lol
FLUX MAX is one of my favorite AI ( BFL)

all of those things are bad though
Not losing your bottle cap is bad?
what
I accept any EU water caps slander, hate these things
I thought I was going insane reading the comments of people here saying they were good.
They are good. They're objectively better for the environment.
It's such a tiny thing in the sea of other problems that makes your life harder for no reason. I don't think I've ever seen a free-running water cap lying alone except on charity fundraisers
Hundreds of thousands of bottle caps are littered yearly. I'm ok with being slightly inconvenienced.
I twist It 180 so It doesn't get in the way
to be honest, other than Mistral AI, I haven't heard of any European based AI.
