Hi all!

I destroyed almost all defenses and in the end the harbor of Latium pirate and everything is rebuilding itself within couple minutes while I'm destroying it again. I saw in videos for others the harbor destruction meant the pirates retires.

I saw a similar thing recently in my campaign. I was at war with a lady and at some point attacked her tiny island which didn't have a villa. I destroyed her harbor and it rebuilt itself within couple minutes. I thought villa-less islands can be captured by just destroying harbor?

What am I missing?

UPD: thanks to the help from the comments, I figured you gotta have all his defensive buildings destroyed at the same time, no sneaky harbor destruction will work. Now I destroyed everything simultaneously and he retired. Thank you guys!

  • When you start attacking his harbor you must see progress bar, only when it will reach 100% he will be defeated. Doesn’t matter that you destroyed his harbor, you must destroy all his defenses too to fill the progress bar, otherwise he will repair everything quite quickly.

The bar reached 0, after which I destroyed a few more turrets. At least I think so, there is no number indicator on the bar, but looked dead zero to me

If there are defensive structures left to destroy you did not get there bar to 0

  • In 1800 the base destroy was sufficient. In 117 you need to destroy the dock and all the towers to reach the 100% bar.

  • check the diplomacy screen to see if the pirate is gone. Maybe you left off one ship somewhere or one tower?

The diplomacy said he's dead 0 on fleet and defense, but still in business

  • You need to destroy the defense towers as well. Then you will defeat the pirate.

Probably I missed some turrets, but they keep rebuilding faster than my ships navigate!

How many ships are you using ? I used 30

Like 10, but with a certain tactics. I destroyed everything I could from the outside, then sent most damaged ships to repair. Then went in a bit, did damage, went out and sent some ships to repair. And on third come-in destroyed everything and lost about 3 ships. He recovers a bit while I'm repairing the ships, but he's too slow. I think I'm on easy difficulty with the battles if that makes a difference

build 10-15 more ships and annihilate that island completely, keep some ships in the bay and the rest send around the island to look out for towers. It has to be done in one go, without coming back to repair, otherwise you might miss some rebuilt towers

    I approve this message

  • I needed to blow up some defenses he managed to rebuild while I was destroying the harbor, then he went away.

    But two minutes is weird.

  • Which ship design did you use?

Rowing, reinforced, and double archery towers. Don't remember the correct in-game terms :D

  • U need to place troops on the harbor (even if there is no villa). It's not possible to conquer an island from an NPC just with ships.

Only the pirate in Latium must be destroyed with ships only. To defeat the pirate in Albion you will need ground troops.

If you don't conquer a whole island (by placing ground troops on the villa or if there is no villa, on the harbor) the island will rebuild.

If you don't destroy all defensive structures + harbor of the pirate in Latium, he will rebuild. Only if he disappears from the diplomatic screen it means you have beaten him. If you are too slow when destroying his towers, his towers will rebuild too. But u won't need ground troops for him. It's the only NPC you can destroy without ground troops but u need to destroy all towers and the harbor.

That's true, thank you. I'm speaking about the Latium guy specifically, so it's not about land troops, right?

Right. Only need to destroy everything in time (else it will rebuild)
