It took a while to realise that public services affect all resident tiers, not just the ones that unlock them ๐๐.
It will make planning the next city much different.
Hours just fly by, 80 hours in now. Keep saying Iโll play some other game on my steam library but letโs anno first for a few minutes which turn into hours lol
Lol what? Don't be delusional. 1800 is superior to 117 on literally every front but diagonal. And vastly so. This game is awesome(200h in) but is a mere 7/10 compared to 1800 being a 10/10.
What's the appeal of multiplayer? My solo games are dozens of hours long and mostly for chill city building. Is multiplayer a fast pace competitive scene, or more just playing together with friends on the same map?
The hints/help and campaign that's more like tutorial helped. But really it's when it clicked that public services impact every type of citizen instead of the one group that unlocks them that it made a whole difference... And a lot of city re-plan ๐ฎโ๐จ
Haha I did hesitate but the Roman empire aesthetic of the city won me over. Quite curious to see what the extra content will bring. Egypt coming next year is something I really look forward to.
I disagree with the other person who reacted to you: if you like the gameplay mechanics of 117, you'll love 1800. Depending on your lifestyle it might be a bad idea to give 1800 a go, for you'll lose 500h in the blink of an eye. 117 is a great game. It can't reach 1800 tho, and it'll take at least 6 DLC before it'll equal 1800 - if such a thing is even possible.
So I'm really looking forward to the DLC too - the first three, but also what will come after that. Can't wait!
It's already hard for me to put down 117, the better life choice may be to not touch 1800, however great it is ๐.
You also point something that mattered to me: 117 has no extra content yet, it's all improvement from this point forward, very much looking forward to that.
117 is clearly newer, better polished, better QoL, and just an overall iteration over 1800 of course
But man 1800 has the feeling of discovery.
Unlocking electricity, getting your first Zeppelin, venturing into the Arctic. Those moments were damn immersive and some of the best Anno ive experienced :)

When multiplayer is fixed on console the game will be amazing
Haven't touched multiplayer, but also playing console. I don't have a pc that can run it, and prefer keeping laptop=work, console=play๐
Nice. Yea multiplayer is the only thing holding this game back from toping 1800
Nah.
I finished anno 117 within 20 hours.
Currently on my new playthrough of anno 1800 I have 70 and I'm not even near being done.

Are you talking about base 1800 or three seasons worth of DLCs 1800?
in what way?

Absolutely incredible game. Iโve run a few mods for quality of life and am having an absolute blast.
Which mods are you running?
Flagship mod - you can research modules to upgrade it so your flagship actually feels like a flagship in the late game
Marble road effect increase - game states it increases range and adds prestige, but shares the same 1.5x range as stone roads. Upgrades to 2x.
Amphitheatre affects whole island - self explanatory,
Villa affects whole island - the small offices have the same area of effect, but makes playing the game more enjoyable and strategic imo.
Hate to break it to you, but these are not quality of life features
My wife and I have played the entire holidays. First Anno game and we are obsessed. The coop is amazing.
The fact that your health, happiness and fire safety are more or less okay is quite impressive

Is the snow thingy gone so I can start playing again?
Itโs way less noticeable now
It did an update and all but disappeared on mine
20 years u say? Allow me to introduce you to anno1800... hf!

Might still give 1800 a go at some point.
