Bro I switched from console to pc edition (gold edition) and god damn I agree the console controls are such a pain in the ass. Now I can check my supply without constantly having to go back and forth between menus lol.
Bro I wish I could do this it looks so cute. My brain just forces me to build the most efficient symterical grid possible for maximum outcome... all I cant see its wasted tiles and I hate it :((
Oh yeah, I love anno. But I also hate anno. Because for the life of me I can't stop my brain from trying to get it "all right" but then stuff changes and it's not right. Or a new need unlocks and I need to change stuff up. So I stop playing.
Dawg I got to Tier 3 on Nov 16th. The new needs thing is so real. I keep changing stuff around hoping to upgrade to Tier 4 but it’s not optimized enough for my brain
What I really like about 117, is that production buildings give buffs to houses. So now you have a reason to place production buildings in your city… less optimisation, more beauty!
I really liked it too (and still do); however, once you try to sustain 100k population across your empire, dedicating production buildings under the range of an officium is still needed. Space is the real challenge here and you need to crank as much productivity in the least amount of space.
I have an island dedicated fully to barley, malt, beer production for all the other islands.
What I did is just install some mods that increase road ranges for things when I want to do a beauty or chill save. Insofar as I can tell, that's the main reason to build condensed. Yea it'll be inefficient but...if I don't care does it matter?
OP, I take it you come from more traditional city building games like simcity and cities skyline? I hope you enjoy the game! it's kne of my favourites!
Sadly the game will punish you because of this layout in the future. But hey, learning this game while playing was the best experience for me so keep doing stuff until you find the "perfect" plan. Then you find a better, perfecter one and change, then another one... oh and a specialist comes along that completely changes stuff and now you can build more....
I appreciate it! I've been trying to spare some time and actually learn to play this game, even if I had to with the PS5 (The controller limits certain aspects of the learning curve). Thus far, I've loved it. What would you say are the weak points of this layout?
2 big issues you will have, 1st is your public/service buildings related and 2nd is space efficiency related. I could elaborate but that could take out the fun of figuring out.
Goddamn the most inefficient layout, but it’s beautiful. I hate that when I play anno I am always thinking max efficiency and grid style cities instead of thinking aesthetics
if OP can get some mods like increased range on services, and increased population density (more citizens in a house) then they don't have to worry about any optimization stuff
looks like you have a throw overboard setting on a boat. you probably shouldn't have that. build more boats. don't trade different goods in the same slot
Just one thing. You're wasting valuable space by having a road between every row off houses. Make a line of two rows of houses and then drag road around those. This saves so, so, much space and makes range based building cover more houses.
Unless you're doing it for aesthetics of course then carry on.
Anno 2025: US suburb edition
Came here to see this post.

Anno 2205
Every house having its own little drive way actually made me smile :)
I hope this post is true and this Person can enjoy this idea of anno for some more hours before the hammer of reality hits.
Exactly my though as well. Soon it’ll be just one big beige/brown square… :’)
At least they won't have any problems with railways.
Jaja I am still trying to figure if it’s adding any value. The console controller is a limitation at times

Do you think those houses could be squeezed next to each other? Because I did consider it but wasn't sure about it haha

Less roads - more space for houses - more money and workforce, less public buildings - less maintenance
Squeez it allways but - on easy it can work this way too
Have lots of fun. Your city layout is beautifully unorthodox.
I love seeing new people play this game with zero experience. It’s fun to see how they plan their cities.
You could consider it “wrong” but there is no wrong in a single player game. As long as you have fun, that’s all that’s matters.
I honestly sometimes wish I could turn my optimization-brain off and just build like this, looks way better than anything I try to beautybuild lol

Regarding cities i just built in 10x10 squares, leaves room for ornaments and forces a more unique look
The word 'cute' came to mind. Loving it :)
I take it as a compliment Haha
It 100% is. It is a video game. Efficiency is secondary to fun. Play however you like to.
Thanks I appreciate it man! I am trying to exploit my first map as much as I can to learn the basics before starting over
OP, I take it you come from more traditional city building games like simcity and cities skyline? I hope you enjoy the game! it's kne of my favourites!
Cities Skylines yes ! Watched a lot of City Planner Plays
This gave me a stroke, 10 out of 10

Its so inefficient, and I both hate and love it at the same time. I love that you're having fun, but my 25 years of Anno brain could never.
Americans cant stop themselves from designing unlivable hellscapes lmao
It's City Planner Plays's fault lol I've learned a lot from that channel
Oh no everyone gets a driveway what a horrible hell
From a European standpoint, yes.
🤣

It's so cute!!
you make them suxh luxury houses, vs me squeezing 3 million on one island
Have fun!
Like other people already mentioned, always fun to see how new people have a fresh mindset how to approach setting up buildings and roads 👌
Is this rage bait? ^^

I wish the menus were better, they weremore responsive, and I could put away the quest menu. Theres too many notifications.
Im constantly backing out and pushing another menu because its just a fraction of a second too slow.
Minor gripes, but the game is very fun.
I haven't played over the past few days because of the damn snow in the game, had it finally gone?
Lucky
Yeah, governor family owns a road construction business in this city, how you can tell?
A viking’s dream location
Sorry to be such a novice, but is this Anno 1800? I've only played 117 and loving it - what one is considered the best in the series for Xbox/ps5?
So adictif
So evil lol
You can place ornaments on every home's backyard now!
When I started i build mostly rows of 6 houses 2 rows thick so 2 x 3 next to another its quite good if u manage railroadspace beforehand
Hahahaha Anno Amerika oder was? 🇩🇪😅
Like my first gameplay nice.
American spotted
Which UI mod are you using? Looks clean!
UI is generally unmoddable. Its the console version of the game, with its own UI
I think that's just vanilla, but Playstation.
NOVISSIMÆ MERDA EX NOVA ANGLIA
QVIS BARBAROS VRBES ÆDIFICARE PERMISIT?
👍
Gosh you're not ready 😂
Worst layout i have ever seen 🤯

When can we play without snow (ps5) again? Unplayable like this..
haha funny . great impractical stuff and super ineffcient.
awesome^^
