Thank you unnamed developer who was forced to remote login and deploy the patch. And thanks to Community Managers who were hounding the developer to do it.

I liked the idea of having the snow, but it was way too much, and it should have come with an off switch.
Poor you. This critique was fair, I actually made it a point to write a negative Steam review so they realize the issue. People want to play right now on their break lol.
To their credit, they fixed it fast it seems. Just shouldn’t have made it to prod in the first place to your point. This is not a small Indie company, it’s Ubisoft.
Considering the circumstances, that's probably as fast and good a reaction as we could have hoped for.
I can only imagine the number of different steps involved in getting a fix deployed in all the different game stores involved... <shiver>
OP forget to mention the patch was only deployed on PC. Console wont get it because patches need to be certified by MS/Sony which wont happen during the holidays.
Imagine that one of the devs gets up from the Christmas table and quickly coding a hotfix to remove the snowstorm because the public anger produces million of memes about it. This is the real power of the Reddit community.
the mod made it playable for people like me (and presumably you) with good PCs, but you can't mod the console version and lower-end PCs were struggling with the additional GPU load, which the mod didn't fix (all it did was make the snow transparent, not actually getting rid of the work being done by the GPU on the backend)
As someone who's played every Anno game with christmas snow, what is the issue? I've been having to play 117 on the lowest settings anyways, the snow only added visual noise, no slowdown or issues. Dang some of you are snowflakes for sure.
I guess you are on console. OP forget to mention the patch was only deployed on PC. Console wont get it because patches need to be certified by MS/Sony which wont happen during the holidays.
Lol not mad, just confused at your complete lack of comprehension. Every post about bugged snow has mentioned that it's worse in Albion and has shown screenshots of clearly 117 UI.

As I said before, I believe it was bugged.

You dont work in it do you..
Wdym? This person is completely correct about QA testing. This should have been caught before being pushed to prod.

Anyone who starts a paragraph by saying "I work at a Fortune 50 tech company" most likely does spend their holidays yelling at Wal Mart employees.
You honestly sound like someone who spends their holidays yelling at Walmart employees.
Someone spent their Christmas correcting this. Thank them.

Triggered.
Thank you guys and Merry Christmas!
Thank god
I logged on to play last night and it was completely unplayable so I'm like "that's unfortunate" and played something else
Wasn’t so much as it was unplayable, it was playable but I couldn’t see Jack shit unless I zoomed right in which was just annoying.
Sounds pretty unplayable to me...
"completely unplayable so I'm like "that's unfortunate" and played something else"

Oh no my 80grand jeep is on fire all well i will take my bike attitude is killing this planet.

I played for like 10 mins this morning and couldn't take it.

Well, like 24 hours. Debatable, yes, no, I don't know.
Thanks for the poor developer, who had to crank it out on Christmas, on the other hand, they screwed it up...
Still unplayable on console. Half a job.
OP forget to mention the patch was only deployed on PC. Console wont get it because patches need to be certified by MS/Sony which wont happen during the holidays.
Still on console
Imagine that one of the devs gets up from the Christmas table and quickly coding a hotfix to remove the snowstorm because the public anger produces million of memes about it. This is the real power of the Reddit community.
Someone made a mod, it was perfectly playable. People ought to stop whining.

Do mods work on PS5 version?
Yo OP, at least notify the users this is PC only if you already repost the news.
"Patchnotes : We've removed christmas from Anno!"
Historically accurate in a way
I am sad .. they could have maybe fixed it. I liked the snow ist
No job like a snow job
I mean, good for the players, but man, first they fabricate bullshit, then a random dev is forced to do a patch on christmas eve.
Sounds straight like corporate hellhole I'd never ever want to work in.
instead of just reducing it... didnt get a chance to see it besides screenshots from reddit xD
Fuck your Christmas break. Spend time figuring out what amount is best instead of flipping a switch /s
It's a Christmas miracle!
if they did their job and playtested for even a second they wouldn't have had to work Christmas. A well deserved disruption to their holidays.
Any idea when this will make its way to GeForce now?

I had no issue with it. Was looking forward to another snowy day in 117, we'll be back to usual all too soon.
Thank God. Its was a constant blizzard consuming the known world lol
Good
Glad there was enough of people like me not book licking and knew it was fucked up to have it in game glad its all gone.
A dev had to work on Xmas because of a few spoiled kids bitching on Reddit
I still have snow why? Who approved this Christmas morning ruined

Pls help
There is a mod to make it disappear.
On Xbox?

Maybe it's because I am on 1800
But i barely saw Any snow? Only thing I saw Was snata claus
Maybe? Really? You're playing an entirely different game and wondering why you aren't seeing this bug?
There is snow in 1800 aswell just like this is not a specific 117 sub btw
But yeah stay mad bruh
