I love Zanka's resolve
This series has too many “best boys” and it’s hard to choose between them.
Zanka had a dedicated slander episode but he's still looking up. Can't help but admire that.
If he eventually beats the geniuses (because this show is unpredictable enough with the tropes that there's a legitimate chance he just never will) I will feel like a proud dad. But even if he doesn't I'm sure he will find his role valuable, because the whole point of it all is to not be so quick to discard something flawed as trash.
Zanka learned Gun.
Zanka uses Gun. It's SUPER effective.
Honestly maybe that's the point of arc. You can't beat genius alone, but with friends everything is possible. Zanka don't need to do everything alone.

To acknowledge that you're weak but to not use that as an excuse or blame other people or a reason to give up but to keep trying...that's commendable.
Zanka's origin story didn't give him a come from behind victory, but it shows why he's still as driven as he is.
Good to have a chill episode after multiple episodes of constant action and intensity. Zanka gets some nice development, Remlin gets scolded, and Rudo smiles normally for a few seconds before going back to his “original smile”. At least he’s making progress.
I'm expecting a chill finale next week
I'm almost surprised this wasn't the finale what with ending on so many possible season 2 teases (Raiders planning their next move/Hyo finding Noerde/a new organization) with Rudo looking up at the sky.

Noerde? I was under the assumption that she was dead or something like it. Since nobody is meant to survive the Watchman (unless some specific condition is passed).
That does look like a good stopping point, doesn't it? I sure hope next episode doesn't end with some cliffhanger, though.

I loved this episode and the funny character moments we got. Fashion guy is funny, he's like Present Mic, Best Jeanist, and Mirio rolled into one character.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Noerde “survived”. A fall from that height even landing on something soft is instant death but it’s Anime “logic”. Although I would like to see a rematch between the two.
I mean it looked like the Watchman just deleted her head last episode. Although she still has her head when we saw her there, so I guess that was more metaphorical. But that’s still something I doubt she is just gonna walk off. If she is alive I’m guessing she is comatose or something.

Yeah, I don’t think this show deals in fall damage lol. I mean from the very start Rudo fell from the Sphere. And trash for sure isn’t soft. All I could think of back then was how much broken glass, rusty metals, needles, and all sorts of other hazardous materials Rudo was being tossed around in. 😂

Though it also implies that Hyo eventually left their group too, so it'll be interesting to see what happens when she and Zanka reconnect.

Actually what I found interesting is he actually agreed that not everything went to plan, but like a true experimenter he accepts failure and impurities in the experiment. From Bundus intentionally highlighting how he expected Zodyl’s personality to be, it seems like Zodyl is actually more of an adaptive, improviser type planner than the typical “think a hundred steps ahead, every move you took I predicted type villain” which I really like.
Honestly Noerde pulled the clutch of the century for managing to get the trash beast just high enough with the cleaners inside that the part of it the cleaners were in actually got inside the border (You can see it in between her and the Watchman) otherwise Zodyl wouldn't have actually been able to confirm it

I said it before, Zodyl straight up became Potential Man throughout this cour. His personal involvement entirely consisted of aura farming and spouting philosophy at Rudo, and being told he has no friends, lol.

“All according to plan” is a bit of a stretch but he did get what he wanted out of this and he has enough pieces to play with that his losses were acceptable. He verified that crossing the border doesn’t kill you if you’re in a trash beast, he has another trash beast that can take them to the Sphere if they juice it up enough, he has four other Raiders we haven’t seen yet that are on par with Jabber, Bundus and Cthoni, and he has a lead on another Watchman series item.

His plan was not to kill the Cleaner, but to test the trash beast and see if people can survive crossing the border. Since the cleaners returned alive, the experiment was a success, and the issues he can fix.

But that is what makes him a tough villain. A villain that does not mind putting unlimited resources into a problem and accepting the results is a scary villain. He has no attachments to his tools and even worse there is no amount of cost that he does not deem acceptable. One of the problems with villains is they are a bit like the heroes they are trying to bring down. They have things they cannot lose.

Also, despite him being villainous and borderline sociopath, I kind feel his relove to take down sphere.
Like what Aizen wanted was straight up genocide of everyone just for some fun little experiment.
But with surface dwellers we have seen how harsh their life is due to all that trash from sphere, they live in misery, can be killed by trash,, while spherites live in luxury. If I were on the surface, I'd also join his resolve.

It's really dismaying how scrawny all the characters are in this show. Really underscores the squalor they live in. Amazing Guita weighs so much!
It’s nice to have a anime with a an actual in universe reason that fits the world building for most of the characters and especially the female characters to be especially thin, made even better with the fact that they aren’t “attractively thin” but genuinely gaunt-looking and malnourished.

Contrasting split personalities with different powers are pretty common these supernatural action shows with lots of fighting, e.g. Darwin's Game, JoJo's or One Piece also have them
So I think he just survived and will come back, maybe even for the Cleaners. Enjin picks up new recruits pretty often it seems, he is directly responsible for at leas Rudo, Zanka and Riyo, right?
What difference does one more child soldier make?
He feels very out of place with being part of Raiders but his only contributions being: begging Enjin to attack, crying a lot, running after Engin, crying more, and having another personality that was only shown to exist in the end

It’s funny knowing that she’s only two years younger than Riyo and 3 years younger than Zanka. Both Riyo and Zanka act like grown adults with tons of experience.
It seems like their pasts forced both of them to mature a lot quicker than most. As opposed to to Guita and Dear who Bro probably protected them from a lot of hardships allowing them to still have a lot of their childhood naivety.

And marching into the series, a new faction! I actually now think that's Zanka's rival from school, and she's captain of the Hell Guard, as expected!
The one that was near Noerde actually seems to be that rival from Zanka's school. Hair is the same and has the katana still.
The new faction is certainly the Hell Guard though. Remember, Zanka did imply that his brother and sister both graduated to it without issue unlike himself.

So Zanka's life really was on the line against Jabber, even if he does so normally, learning that he had no insurance must boost his confidence a bit. I like that Rudo felt a lot more respect for Zanka even if his smile made Zanka think Rudo was mocking him lol.
Zodyl going after the chokers is smart but really bad for the Cleaners. I wonder if he was already testing something out in the trash beast and that's how he came to that conclusion since the chokers weren't working.

Yeah I am confused as to how he came to that conclusion. The chokers weren't working at first inside the beast but at some point Enjin's did.
I think the artificial trash beast was at least partially buried underground at the beginning of the kidnapping. After it launched toward the Border, the one restriction on the Chokers (they don't work underground) no longer applied.
Damn, I wish I was as cool as Rudo and the rest of guys in the car, the coolness level there skyrocketed!

Despite how Guita acts most of the time, she DID pay attention to what the Raiders were saying about their Trash Beasts and Watchman Series plans. Though I'm struggling to pay attention to her words when she's stripped down out of her Kaiju onesie. And all she's focused on is how she wishes she could've fully taken on that Trash Beast in kaiju mode.

It's nice of Rudo to think of giving Zanka flowers. Delmon REALLY takes his flowers seriously, because of his late wifes' memory, but that's why he can totally support giving Zanka some artificial ones.
Poor Zanka. It isn't just that he failed to achieve anything and was the only Cleaner that really lost...Eishia can't even fully heal him of his poison. But at least Enjin still believes in him!
To think all this time we thought Zanka had a critical hit surviving spell...and Remlin just messed with him and gave him an inflatable muscle arm. But at least Zanka takes it in good spirit, he knows he lost from his own weakness and in acknowledging, meditating, and being frustrated over it, he fully plans to overcome it on his own. And this is why Enjin believes in him so much!
Rudo...really needs to stop trying to smile around Zanka. It ruins literally EVERY moment they have together. And whether Zanka likes it or not, he's stuck playing Rudo's other mentor to help him mature and become a proper human being/Cleaner.
All Zodyl cared about is proving that a Trash Beast could cross the border. Everything else was secondary or just another guinea pig worth studying as part of the experiment. Even Noerde, who he respected as a true warrior, was ultimately only more than a tool for him. And now he's setting his sights on figuring out the Chokers, and he's already got another Trash Beast ready to cross the Border!

I thought Enjin was looking down at Rudo, not across to Follo. Rudo and Follo’s double take also made me think that Enjin’s reply was sudden. I could be wrong though.
He was replying to Follo saying that the Zanka must have taken a blow to his self-esteem, and opened the door to show that Zanka was fine.

So Remlin drew a different spell on Zanka as a prank, and the one he got actually made his arms bigger? Man, Zanka is lucky he didn't get mind-controlled by Amo back in Episode 12, or he would've suffered from major injuries when Tamsy slammed them all into the bottom of Amo's tower!
I think Zodyl is getting the wrong information from his experiment. First of all, they got close, but the Cleaners didn't cross the border. And Noerde did reach the border, but was immediately annihilated by the Watchman. So I don't know where Zodyl is getting all of his conclusions from.
So they're targeting the creator of the Choker next? Whoever it is, it's probably someone closely guarded by the Cleaners.

Honestly it feels weird seeing Guita half out of the Kaiju onesie, though she also looks a lot more..."mature" than I was expecting.
I love how Rudo kept questioning why they put on the sunglasses and nobody answered him. It was all about the vibes lol.
I remember everyone talking about the critical hit spell during the Jabber vs Zanka episode but Zanka never even had it! Imagine though if that inflatable arm had actually helped him in that fight lol.
I think what they need for this experiment is proof that a Trash Beast can 100% cross the Border and the people inside it can come out unscathed. I feel like Zodyl is just the type who will rationalize everything to avoid admitting a failure or things didn't go his way. Honestly Noerde deserves better than him so I hope she and Hyo get their own thing going on.
So the battle over the choker creator next? Or over the remaining Watchman series items? Either way, I feel like myself and Rudo are just wondering what happened to Amo.

They crossed the border. The difference was that Noerde was outside of the trashbeast (who's core is a protective amulet, btw). The trashbeast most probably protected the Cleaners and THAT was the true test that Zodyl was going for.
First off, I know it’s not relevant to the episode but Enjin looks hot as hell in casual wear. I wasn’t really feeling his looks like others have, but this ep changed that real quick.
And Zanka was genuinely the GOAT this episode. Got utterly humiliating throughout most of this arc, and what’s his response after it’s over? “I’ve just gotta get stronger.” Didn’t blame Remlin for even a second for what was a REALLY bad mistake on their part. Honestly, Zanka really felt like he temporarily became the MC this episode. Think about it, his response here is straight up the typical shonen MC’s response to a situation like this, and I really love that they wrote the story like that. All the cast look like they could be the MC in gachiakuta, but Zanka really pulled it off here.

This absolutely felt like the finale lol, wonder what’s going to happen next episode, maybe something to do with boots girl?
The aftermath and what comes next for everyone.
This episode was a much needed downtime after a conflict like that and also building up for future things.
Fun shenanigans like the car ride or the flowers moment but also serious one and good for character development with how Rudo saw himself pushing the sphere culture on others and Dalmon liked the feeling behind it.
I really like Zanka this episode because I can relate to him a bit I am also very critical of myself when i make mistakes or dont do well enough on something maybe even too far sometimes but I like that he still wanted to grow stronger.
Remlin and the giant arm were great haha but I hope Remlin learns a big lesson from this.
Zodyl and his plans seem to be advancing and Bundus gets his promotion and a statue/idol of some sorts ?
Noerde full confirmation she is dead but we still dont know what happened between her and Zodyl.
This season so far feels like we just scratched the surface of Gachiakuta and I am curious where it goes thats why this episode felt like the season finale but maybe next one will either be a training arc because the cleaners definitely need something to go up against the raiders or we will have a big cliffhanger to take us into season 2.

And ours when it was revealed that Hyo discovered Noerde and MAY be a Raider. Next week's season finale is going to be good.

Didn't he straight up tell Rudo he wanted to kill everyone in the Sphere? Or at least destroy them? Something to that effect.
He asked Rudo if he wanted to take down the sphere with him and right after a sequence of the sphere in flames with everybody inside it literally crashing down appeared
Zodyl is 100% on board with genocide as revenge for whatever motivates him and a part of Rudo no matter how small is too (Considering Zodyl remarks they both saw the same vision and have the "same eyes")
If Enjin hadn't found him first Rudo might as well been completely on board, but being with people like the cleaners helped him remember what Regto teached him and stop rage from completely consuming him
Zanka is also deeply troubled that Rudo is putting both self-growth and vengeance on the same pedestal.
Zodyl's fixation on the Sphere further confirms my theory that he was the boy whose mother tried to get him buried with the rest of their cargo cult in Sphere trash rain. He survived and now wants to destroy the Sphere and its denizens.
It's kinda sad seeing Zanka always get the short end of the stick in almost everything (he only didn't get the 'reduce major damage' buff) but like Zanka shows, the setback is defined not by what happened, but by what you take away from it. And that managed to inspire Rudo, who's starting to see him in a new light. Though, he still needs to work on his smile.
So, Noerde is still alive? Which is why Zodyl believes that his experiment has been a success. And they are going after the inventor of the Chokers next.
Thought Remlin's screw up was gonna be something like giving Zanka the single-hit damage reduction spell without accounting for his arch nemesis being a DoT specialist, but nope, just a classic post-NNN arm prank.
Hope the teasers for all those Givers/Raiders is a soft confirmation for a second season because man, never been more hyped to see people throw their trash around.

Well, Zodyl taking the "experiment" as a success is interesting. I guess technically reaching the border and living is a positive. I guess for him information gain over losses was net positive in his mind. He doesn't think too much about the loss of Noerde.

God I loved this episode. I'm surprised how this anime always manage to go far my expectations.
I was prepared for getting bored post-action episodes yet I felt so involved w/Zanka, I laughed and felt empowered. I'm rooting SO HARD for him because of all the failures and history and yet he proves to have the strongest will. I just want to give him a hug so he can stop blaming himself 🥹
Plus: we know the new Raiders' objective + bonding moments with the team + a look into the Raider's Team and a new Giver

I guess there is a possibility Raiders took it from her or she is in other kind of trouble considering her imprisonment in the OP, but honestly Im baffled how low priority returning her shoes seemingly is, why the hell they gave them to the Cleaner boss instead? Well, from their point of view he isn't sus but the way Bundus and Bro talked about him earlier put some major red flags on him.

I feel the boss of the cleaners (I think his name is arka corvus) is very suspicious. He wasn’t concerned after learning from semiu that the raiders had gotten the cleaners, he seemed too calm/indifferent about it all. Plus when that raider guy with the hat asked information about the boss of the cleaners, no one knew anything about him. It makes me wonder why everyone is following him when he’s basically a walking secret.
Plus his tattoo keeps on moving, unless it’s his vital instrument, what would it be moving for?
Chokers are basically cellphones, and if you kidnap someone you don't let them keep a phone. That, or she is being kept underground. Since the Cleaners don't know where she is, they handed the boots for safekeeping since none of them can actually use it.

The cleaners vibing was the best scene in the season.
I liked Enjin a lot already but what he said about Zanka made me like him even more. It can be hard to be compassionate without pity and also compassionate for someone who suffered in radically different circumstances than most of the suffering you've seen in your life. Enjin feels like a legitimately empathetic and kind person and I love him for it.

Sometimes we don't see non-MCs and non-antagonists level up that much in terms of power but I really hope Zanka's resolve pays off. I want him to win in a rematch with the white-haired girl from his hometown and Jabber. Zanka is a main character in some aspects but I hope you get my point.
