Ngl the manga art is a lot more charming, makes me remember how I felt with kumo desu ga Nani Ka, Sure the anime design is not bad and follows the LN design, but man the manga is just way cooler
The first form eyes look more realistic in the LN, whereas the manga feels more anime. Both of which, I think are fine. But the actual anime.. his eyes are too full and he doesn't really have a snout, like a dragon would (could just be bad angle / mouth expression - I hope).
And the second form, I like both. The LN definitely looks much but the manga makes it look like its an evolved form since shows some similarities to the previous form. But the anime just looks like its following the LN design yet trying to follow the manga style, so it looks pretty mediocre.
The evolving is part of the appeal of the monster leveling up in these isekais. Usually super nitty gritty on stats and choosing skills. I’m not really a fan of the design either, like they were saying it’s a little too digimon.
Oh my god, that IS Nekron!!! I did have to look up the name because I didn't play Black and White, but I'd recognize that generic monster design anywhere (I'll never remember the name for understandable reasons).
I wonder whether this takes place before or after the most recent pokemon anime.
Nah, unless they are drastically changing the story from the LN. The human characters show in the image above and the preview should only appear for like 5 minutes of the entire season of an anime adaptation if it is an accurate LN adaptation.
crazy lore here but this series was the inspiration for the author that wrote Hell Mode whose anime adaptation is also coming out in January. Wild to see them come out together
This is a human reincarnated as a baby dragon who wants to get along with humans. The line he'll be walking is between "I'm too weak to defend myself and my friends" and "I'm too scary, and all the humans I try to make friends with either attack me on sight, run away screaming, or faint".
I'm relieved to see other users being reminded of the two most popular monster franchises.
And it also seems like the anime production values match the quality of the writing. Low.
Sounds like a Literary RPG with terrible writing, and it's a little ironic that I ACTUALLY enjoy reading the manga adaptation of author's OTHER novel "The Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System".
Stories with thin gimmicks seem to be incredibly popular, so this should be popular among fans of TenSura, KumoDesuga, Sword, and VendingMachine. They eat this up like candy.
I remember liking the designs for his forms in the manga a lot more. Way more 'legit dragon monster' rather than the overly chibi/Digimon looking style they seem to have gone with here. I enjoyed the manga quite a lot, hopefully this adaptation isn't too rough.
One of these days I'm expecting an isekai man to reincarnate as a stool or something, we already have a vending machine so it wouldn't be as ridiculous.

IMO the the manga design is closer to the LN design than the anime one in this case
Looking at his first form I agree but looking at his second one(that is also on this visual) I think that this one looks more similar to the ln
i hated it with the thick line art style. the anime/LN art look way better
Manga & Light Novel - 1st & 2nd Forms from Volume 1 & 2 covers of each.

edit: new image link
Your link don't work
It's an imgur link..
It's never not worked before.
I just clicked it and it works fine..I tried it in incognito, it didn't work, wtf.
I reuploaded it and it didn't work..
Maybe it's detecting it as mature content and blocking it?
Never had this issue before.
Welp, I've replaced the link with a imageBB, which seems to work.

Yeah the problem is the art style is so specific and strange that it would be more difficult to animate I would think.
Where are you all even reading the light novel? I’ve only read the web novel, which isn’t complete (was it abandoned?).
Anime try to make him look like a cute mascot way too hard
New cast members:
Kugimiya Rie as Mariel
Kusunoki Tomori as Kurotokage/Black Lizard
Show premieres 10 January.

That's fucking hilarious. The lizard is a literal lizard. It can't talk
Animals can vocalize. You think an anime with a non-talking cat character would use an actual cat as the voice actor?
Kugimiya as a main character? Hell yeah?
Glad to hear the tsundere queen again.
this yellow thing looks like Chinpokomon from South Park
Is this some Pokemon/Digimon spinoff?
It’s a standard system isekai, closer to So I’m a spider so what. Reincarnated as a monster, level up, meet waifu, shenanigans ensue
Is this the one with black lizard?
Yes.
I personally didn't liked that he evolved from his first form they could keep him in it but change some detail of his look
The evolving is part of the appeal of the monster leveling up in these isekais. Usually super nitty gritty on stats and choosing skills. I’m not really a fan of the design either, like they were saying it’s a little too digimon.
Is actually pretty good, I was reading the manga, don’t know if it’s still going because the website I was using was suddenly shut down 😞.
The black dragon thing looks a lot like Zekrom from Pokemon
What are you talking about?
...
Oh my god, that IS Nekron!!! I did have to look up the name because I didn't play Black and White, but I'd recognize that generic monster design anywhere (I'll never remember the name for understandable reasons).
I wonder whether this takes place before or after the most recent pokemon anime.
lmao my first thought looking at this was "I didn't know they're making a new Digimon yet"
Nah, unless they are drastically changing the story from the LN. The human characters show in the image above and the preview should only appear for like 5 minutes of the entire season of an anime adaptation if it is an accurate LN adaptation.
Dodgymon
ripoff
That or they're challenging Nintendo's lawyers
People do be reincarnating as anything these days, from a vending machine to a weird cat hybrid.
Don't forget sword
Reincarnated as a sword actually has a pretty interesting story behind the reincarnation.
Sword Dad
Cat hybrid? Oh I think I know the one. You're talking about the anime where the guy is reincarnated as a behemoth?
Yep that's the one
Poor Tama.
What a sweet Digimon
Man, it still look disapointing compared to the manga...
Seeing the anime art style be so generic causes me psychic damage because I absolutely love the novel
I don't wanna hate on it... But it's got a bit of that generic seeming art style going for this anime.
crazy lore here but this series was the inspiration for the author that wrote Hell Mode whose anime adaptation is also coming out in January. Wild to see them come out together
Wait, for real? Did the author say it?
yes he said it at the end of book 1 of hell mode in the Afterword
Non-human protagonists are a fraught path.
It's a thin line between "I'm just a human with cosmetics" and "I'm a total inhuman sociopath" and most series fail to walk it well.
Beastars did a good job. Outside of that all the good xenofiction I know is from literature.
This is a human reincarnated as a baby dragon who wants to get along with humans. The line he'll be walking is between "I'm too weak to defend myself and my friends" and "I'm too scary, and all the humans I try to make friends with either attack me on sight, run away screaming, or faint".
Is a black dude his older form?
Yes
I think I read the manga
Wait this Manga gets an Anime

Why does the main girl look like Maple?
Digimon isekai
Jk Digimon is already isekai
