The islands are in shape of a dinosaur (velociraptor I think). They’re asking if the shape of the islands is too obvious, like will people be able to tell without the knowledge of what it is.
Sure, but what is their goal with this piece of art? It's in the animation subreddit so you'd expect it to be some sort of animation related question. Do they want it to be unknown what the art is? Do they want it to be clear that it's a dinosaur and they are going to animate it to be like an abstract dino? There are so many things we need to know to be able to give meaningful advise.
First I thought it was kind of world map in some moving stage, but then I realized it could be a dinosaur.. Idk what you want to do with it, but I would, at least, change the colors of some parts, like nails/teeth maybe
No. It does look very spotted and coastal because it's just a lot of islands, so if you don't want that then maybe diversify the shapes a little bit, but if you do want that sort of vibe then yeah it's pretty much perfect
I definitely did not see it until I swapped to the second picture. Now I definitely see it. So I’d say that to you, because you made it, it feels super obvious. But without knowing about the reference image, it isn’t obvious at all.

Once it's animated, it could easily be seen as a dinosaur without the background. But it would take great skill and planning. Good luck!
