There seems to be a lot of traffic over Sacramento CA

Everyone complaining about the post and the mods... How about have a civil discussion and stop calling each other names. Converse like friends who like the same hobby. Explain why you think it is what it is and be nice. Not everyone thinks the same or has the same background. Egregious violations of sub rules will be banned. It's not censorship, it's expecting you to act like an adult.

Is this tonight? Or a night in the last two weeks? I remember seeing what I thought 90% was spotlights on the tip of Nashville, TN and then hoped on Reddit and thought it was odd so many people were postings spotlights that night. But this wasn’t what I saw at all

    parent
    62 points Elusivemoon7187

I’m in Chattanooga, Tn and I saw this tonight (not in a line but like flickers back and forth for about two mins ) edited to add time : around 8:20 pm EST.

    parent root
    18 points SpaceChatter

Nice! Yeah I’m in Phoenix and missed it last night so have been looking tonight lol

    parent root
    20 points lemmegonowplease

I definitely saw spotlights last night in PHX. They were very obviously spotlights to any body who has every been within a mile of a movie theater

    parent root
    15 points New_Canoe

I’ve seen those at the local stadium, but this doesn’t seem like that. It would be interesting to see a 360 of this scene. To see it coming from the other direction as he states in the video. I would find it hard for a spotlight to reach that far into the horizon and this camera not be able to see the source, IF it was a spotlight.

    parent root
    7 points KWyKJJ

    This is exactly it.

How many similar clips like this have we seen?

One was in the middle of the desert.

It would be fairly simple to determine the origin of spotlights, which tells me that's not what these people are seeing.

    parent root
    0 points HoldEm__FoldEm

    Spotlights… at a movie theatre?

I’ve never seen spotlights at the movies. It’s usually really dark in there

    parent root
    41 points lemmegonowplease

    parent root
    11 points Elusivemoon7187

Also, I live in the countryside. No stadiums or movie theatres near me lol.

    parent root
    2 points AdRepresentative8236

Any dispensaries nearby or other new businesses?

    parent root
    107 points SpaceChatter

Last night. Seen in Phoenix and Seattle too I believe.

    parent root
    51 points TheRealMeetMountain

Confirmed in Tucson too!! My daughter and I were on a walk and saw it twice. First one was like a glimpse. Second one looked exactly like the one that changed directions and shot exactly to the west!

    parent root
    2 points soniko_

Add tijuana, sadly i was driving and couldn’t

    parent root
    17 points Major_Yogurt6595

yeah, those arent spotlight, there is no way so many people saw them all over the country tonight. NHI doing a warmup? They need to try harder cause 99% of people dont leave their house lol.

    parent root
    3 points cornbreadcake

I saw something in Nashville last night too

    Addtional link: https://www.oldsacramento.com/event/theatre-lights

I didn't see anything that matched up to what OP posted, though to be fair I scrubbed pretty quickly.

    parent root
    8 points TheRealMeetMountain

No way!! My daughter and I saw this over Tucson last night!!! But it was only twice we saw and it shot back towards the west!! It did what that first one did!

    parent root
    10 points thirsty_pretzels_

Winterhaven Festival of Lights! Or it looks like your botanical garden is another possibility.

    parent root
    6 points TheRealMeetMountain

There were none on Christmas even in Tucson. None with spotlights. We saw this coming from the west and they happened 2 times.. one single light, 5 minutes apart. Would be the gayest light show of all time.

    parent root
    9 points thirsty_pretzels_

Yes the dates add up. From far away sure, but not at the actual event. Idk man you seem really set on wanting to believe it’s aliens so just believe that.

    parent root
    5 points TheRealMeetMountain

I’m not saying that at all. I’m just saying I saw the same exact thing

    parent root
    8 points TheRealMeetMountain

Dog I live on walnut Ave. Botanical gardens is a rock throw away from my place. On alvernon. The light I speak off came from over the mountains and flashed over oro valley and dashed back.

    parent root
    2 points TheRealMeetMountain

Also.. just looked at the Sacramento Festival of Lights. Show me a video where they do that without a beam coming directly from the ground. Please.

    parent root
    11 points thirsty_pretzels_

Wdym, that’s how it’s done? The lights shoot really high and far so it doesn’t seem like it’s coming from the ground. The kids in the main video had no idea just like you

    parent root
    5 points TheRealMeetMountain

So you’re asserting that the lights I saw in Tucson Arizona are the same ones they saw in Sacramento California?

    parent root
    14 points thirsty_pretzels_

    Fuck no

    parent root
    1 points TheRealMeetMountain

That’s exactly what I saw and with the same timestamp as an approximation. So what’s the explanation, Mick?

    parent root
    13 points thirsty_pretzels_

I gave you 3 reasonable explanations that match your time and place 1. Winterhaven light show 2. Botanical garden light show 3. Someone fucking with a high powered light

    parent root
    2 points TheRealMeetMountain

But in Tucson they only did it twice 5 minutes apart for the whole night?

    parent root
    6 points thirsty_pretzels_

They might have been adjusting it in that moment

    parent root
    3 points TheRealMeetMountain

    Okay Mick.

    parent root
    1 points TheRealMeetMountain

It did what that one light did that changed directions. Came in from way over the western mountains of Tucson over oro valley and dashed back. Did that twice.. 5 min apart. One single light. No light show man.

    parent root
    42 points Glad_Platform8661

I read ground “lightening” and thought I was gonna learn something REALLY interesting about nature. Now you owe me something REALLY interesting about nature.

    parent root
    12 points cheezecake2000

Cloudbursts are pretty neat, though can be dangerous. Sprites )are also super cool, kinda like lightning from the clouds upwards instead of down to earth.

    parent root
    44 points MassiveClusterFuck

I got ripped on UFOB for suggesting that it was this, even more so when I told people to go look at videos like this one too lol.

    parent root
    15 points Ethanhc88

Same lmao my comment suggesting Christmas lights event was removed. They truly "want to believe" in the worst way.

    parent root
    5 points Fruitloops_z

I also think these are spotlights in the video, but to be fair, the “B” in UFOB stands for “Believer”. It’s where you go when you’re a 100% diehard.

Suggesting anything different is crazy. Like walking into a church and trying to convince people God isn’t real. Just ain’t gonna happen

    parent root
    5 points wo0two0t

They make the UFO subject look like a complete joke and then wonder why the rest of the world doesn't take it seriously.

    parent root
    6 points CosgraveSilkweaver

They do this and then wonder why people aren't believing their "amazing 100% indisputable discoveries of aliens".

    parent root
    15 points pheuk

Take my upvote. Hopefully your comment will go higher.

    parent root
    6 points FUNBARtheUnbendable

At first I downvoted because I misread as ground “lightning” before I actually clicked the video. Good video to demonstrate how they look from the ground. They’re spotlights. Case closed.

More fucking event lights. They are rotating show lights on the ground beaming onto the clouds. First time I seen this in person was at a movie theater when Independence Day premiered.

    parent
    6 points Dinosaur9911

    Yes. I remember that.

    parent root
    4 points WeeklyPrize21

And the first one that moves across zips back towards the camera location and then back towards the far side again - right around 2s where he does that goofy laugh and just before the female voice says okay. Spotlights.

    parent root
    4 points llTeddyFuxpinll

My guess on that is one of the rotating lights had a hiccup in the motor caused it to bounce back for a second

    parent root
    -9 points SpaceChatter

That is not how spotlights work.

    parent root
    13 points phosphorescence-sky

Its a light show not spotlights. You can see them being demonstrated 3 years ago for a Christmas event.

    parent root
    15 points antiADP

Friend… look up Ayrton Mamba or Ayrton Veloce or ETC Lonestar. Moving focus beam and wash lights. Lots of production companies rent these out at accessible rates. Heck even well funded high school theaters have some of these

This isn’t 1980’s extra large 24k watt spotlights on generators. Just a 208/200a distro and it’s all mobile and modular

    21 points Captinprice8585

    parent root
    3 points Infinite_Airline_438

must be low-level because this is coming from ground lighting at the festival of lights lmao. this sub is filled with morons

    parent root
    16 points Joe_Franks

I have also worked on movie sets and while there are fast follow spots and lighting effects lights, this is not them. You are factually incorrect in your assumptions. Where is the point of light coming from that is over their heads? You would see a beam under them in that cloud cover.

    parent root
    13 points SpaceChatter

Exactly. It would have to be on top of a mountain.

    parent root
    2 points SparrowDotted

Either your lighting knowledge extends about as far as PARs and profiles or you're just bullshitting.

    parent root
    2 points d4ve_tv

This guy is correct you always see the light shaft of a normal spot light.  These are just light in the clouds racing around they have been doing this at least last year maybe the year before in the EU and probably other places.

    parent root
    18 points Fwagoat

That’s only if there’s a significant amount of particles in the air like fog, if it’s a dry night there’ll be no light shaft.

    parent root
    2 points arctic-apis

This is 100% event lights. There are literally hundreds of videos of spot lights and this is one of them.

    parent root
    5 points SpaceChatter

It was seen in multiple states.

    parent root
    12 points BurtTheKuato

The light is clearly being projected on the bottom of the clouds and not a light beaming from behind them.

    parent root
    7 points LittleKachowski

You can have events in multiple states.

    parent root
    3 points IndependentTimely639

When did they pass a law saying only one state is allowed to have an event at a time?

    parent root

Elongated...for those who are saying they cant be spotlights. They absoultely can be. And the speed can be solved by the law of relativity. Stop bashing skeptics

My immediate knee jerk is spot lights and I believe alien life has (possibly is) visiting. That’s just what it looks like. Lights illuminating the cloud bottoms

    parent root

The speed has nothing to do with relativity and everything to do with the dexterity of the motion controlled mount for the spotlights.

Maybe the new bright ass headlights that new car have are shining on the clouds as they come up and over a hill? Hills near our house going both ways and lines up with the direction people were driving. We're noticing it more often because more and more cars have these lights?
