Around 1am southern hemisphere (in south Australia) and I was teaching my boyfriend how to find true south using the Southern Cross (crux)

Two moving objects catch my eye. They seem a bit off, so I watch one of them thinking it's a Starlink, Satellite or even the ISS as both were moving in a slow straight line, one coming from the left one coming from the right.

These two objects looked like the faintest stars of the night. I asked my boyfriend if he saw them, he couldn't.

He also couldn't see Epsilon Crucis (the faintest star of the Southern Cross) so I figured I had better night vision than he did.

Then all of a f*cking sudden these two Starlinks/Satellites cross paths at Miaplacidus (top red circled) AND THEY START SPINNING AROUND IT REALLY FAST TOGETHER ON OPPOSITE ENDS

Then one of them shoots off across the horizon faster than anything I've seen before. Like a space jump in a Sci Fi movie.

I lose my shit and point the remaining one out to my boyfriend who can't see them still.

Like I said, looks like the faintest star in the night only a few could see.

I look out for more and then I see that one move down around the southern Cross and 2 MORE APPEAR FROM OVER THE HORIZON!

And all x3 start circling eachother above the southern Cross!

As far as I could see they were moving fast to be able to cross that much space. And then a massive cloud rolled over and I didn't see them exit.

But I saw that first one exit. It was taking a slow unassuming straight path and then yeets into the distance leaving behind a flash trail in less than 0.1 seconds. It went from 'satellite/starlink' to 'shooting star' after moving in circles.

I lost my mind at the fact that I just witnessed that, and the fact that anyone could look up and just see it happen??

As someone who is rational and seeks the truth this has ruined my whole year. My whole life. What am I supposed to do with this knowledge?? There's intelligent life in the skies moving faster than anything we've ever seen.

They are here.

  • I believe this account and explanation more than 99.8% of videos or stories I’ve ever read on Reddit.

For one, I’m inclined to believe a stargazer more than someone who just happens to be looking up (and usually can’t tell the difference between a satellite, star or even a plane) and catches some strange thing in the sky. If you spend a lot of time looking up at night and paying attention to what you’re looking at, you naturally can decipher the difference in things that move around up there.

Great post, OP. I can’t articulate some of the things I’ve seen, and most have a reasonable explanation. But you clearly saw something from out of this world.. or from this world that we were oblivious to before.

Keep looking up. Thanks for sharing

I believe this because the exact same thing has happened to me multiple times, which turned the evenings into hours long gazing events.

I didn’t have a telescope but I had binoculars. They’re flying at impossible speeds, maneuvering as they fly in impossible ways (barrel rolling at breakneck speeds, instant turns). They flash rainbow colours. They appear as stars to the naked eye. I’ve seen them yeet into the horizon. I’ve seen them go straight up and away and I’ve seen the exit trail/trajectory behind them as they fly out. These can’t be ours because we would turn into a puddle inside one of these things.

It made me happy, amazed and terrified at the same time. We really are not far off from cavemen and Neanderthals compared to what’s out there.

Edit: this was about 10 years ago. After the event, my ex made me a painting that said “keep looking up” with a starry night sky

When I was a teenager me and my friends would often sit on a hill and stargaze and we would see stuff like this all the time. They'd look like static stars for a while and then would suddenly just move to another position in the sky as a ridiculous speed and then stay there for a while before relocating again. You needed a lot of time and patience and I think light pollution was a lot less back then too but we'd always see them. This was around the late 90s/early 2000's.

Great story my wife and I stargaze all the time we go down to Mafa once a year to see the Milky Way. We still can’t figure out what seems to be a satellite Moving and then all of a sudden it’s like a flash almost like it’s taking a picture and then it slowly disappears or fades. We’ve seen it multiple times different times in our nights staring up at the sky over the last 10 years or so.

Check your watches after seeing this, to make sure you haven't lost time. You never know....

I’ve seen these a lot too. The flashes. Some dim, some incredibly bright flashes. Sometimes in the same spot over and over on a schedule like every 19 seconds

I see that sometimes too. East coast usa.

Same!! I’ve witnessed this exact behavior, northern NJ

So satellites and space junk do appear, disappear and flash. It's solar reflection and down to their attitude rotation, observer-object-sun trigonometry. When they stop, change direction, change speed then it ain't a satellite or debris.

The flash is a tell-tale sign of a satellite, I think it’s something along the lines of the moment it aligns with the sun, it then gives off a brief brighter light before fading away

It absolutely does look unusual though, it’s caught a few people around me off guard at night

This is true folks. I’ve been in dark sky areas watching for satellites specifically, using an app that shows when they’ll come into view, and watched this exact phenomenon while watching the satellite cruise across the sky and my app.

To try out the same phenomenon get a buddy with a mirror and bring a flashlight. Hold the flashlight out at arms length pointing forward at a slight angle so the beam eventually crosses the dead center of your field of view. This represents your viewing location on earth and the light of the sun.

Have your buddy hold up a mirror at chest level pointed in the direction of the light, and have him/her walk in an arc from your left side, to in front of you, to your right. This is the moving satellite with its highly reflective solar panels.

At some point on that arc, you’ll start to see the light reflect more, reach a flash point, and then go dimmer.

Took me a while to figure this one out as well, and while I may be wrong, I belive my idea is worth sharing.

As a regular ol' stargazer, I've seen flashing objects that stay in one place and flash usually for just a few moments. Only the flash itself is visible, and flashes are stationary, atleast from our perspective. Those are the ones that spook me a bit.

Then, to the moving flashes.. Starlink, and many other satelights in low earth orbit use boosters to keep themselves in their proper alignment. If you're seeing an object flash while watching the object move across the sky, you are likely witnessing a rocket booster firing off of a satellite.

Perhaps moonlight reflection on a satellite or space debris? Lots up there. Hard to say really. There is an app that tracks satellites if next time you want to investigate a little further

What’s the app called? I’m interested

    Heavens-Above su Playstore

I believe that's the reflection on the satellite's solar panels from the sun shortly after sunset and night appears, and then it slowly fading away.

I’ve also seen this same thing 3 times over the last ten years near Boston Massachusetts. Almost like a star getting bigger and then in a flash it slowly disappears.

I had the same thought. This is more believable to me than 99.9% of all the videos, mummies…etc that are on Reddit

  • I work in the early mornings around 3am. I get to work with about 15-20 min before clocking in and I always see weird shit like what you just described. One time I had the luck of having my co worker around and asked him if he could see what I was looking at and he said what is that? I said it's either a satellite or a UFO. Couldnt be satellite cause it wasn't going in a linear direction. It would go straight, stop, go straight again, do like a 45° cut and bolt the fuck outta sky. I told him satellite take a little longer to cross our skyline of sight. This skedaddled in like 3 seconds across the whole sky.

Having someone next to you who can't see the same thing feels crazy. I was swearing off my head in the park at 1am because of how frustrating and crazy it was to be able to clearly see them move in non linear directions.

When you said it skedaddled in like 3 seconds across the whole sky that's exactly what I saw. It looked like a shooting star, fading off into the distance after a brief flash of speed.

Yup, that's what I saw. Not the 1st one either. For reference I live in Los Angeles. This happened on the hills of Glendale. I always look up just for the chance of looking at something weird or normal.

Time to get some night vision goggles or some other kind of tool that picks up more light than your eyes. It’s be even better if you could record the images from it.

I’ve seen some weird stuff in the sky that I can’t explain, and realized I just kind of decided it’s a mystery and stopped thinking about it.

Luckily one of the weirdest happened when I was standing next to someone and they saw too.

I’ve also seen that just looking at the sky with the naked eye from a windows that turns into a partial skylight while in bed in my old house. Located at the highest point in the area on clear days with not too much light pollution one can see the sky real clear. I always loved that window because late at night pondering life you can look into the sky like you would laying on a grass field outside. Sometimes I would see “Stars” that started to move ever so slightly in unpredictable non linear ways and then after a bit either fade out or jump away quickly. It doesn’t take much to question what is going on when you see that a few times

I’ve seen something similar before luckily with some one else who saw it. Looked like a satellite then it would make a 45 degree turn. It would disappear and reappear going in a different direction

  • I've seen this too, not the spinnyboy stuff, but something I thought was a satellite suddenly yeeting out of there.

Pretty much convinced myself I was just young and imaginative, I guess we'll find out some day.

Are you ready for a rabbit hole? Enjoy.

My gummies kicked in while reading. Hell yeah. Great crosspost.

All thanks to Jacques Vallée's six decades of research.

    I just took a few, so I guess that's what I'll do

Edit: holy shit that guy has 'gummies' in their name

    That's funny. Mine too.

Jesus man, that’s no rabbit hole… that’s a hole to friggin China

Whoaaa what an incredibly thorough write-up! Thank you so much for sharing!

  • I have said before, its like you have to look past the stars to see them, but once you do then you start spotting more and more

Perfectly put. I’ve seen this a couple times, once with like 4 other witnesses. One of which is a non believer and tried to pass it off as a satellite at first, before noticing many many more, all coming and going from different directions at different speeds. We watched for a good 45 min to an hour, all trying (and failing) to explain it away.

Exactly. I remember reading a post about our vision.. there is a part of our eye in the peripheral vision that can spot fainter objects that is harder to see directly. And I tried practising this, this is infact how I saw the Pleiades for the first time in an area with too much light pollution. I would focus on a point near the star/object/whatever that i wanted to focus on and slowly slowly i would be able to focus on stars i never realised that they were there.

Pleiades is a great example. I can spot that without looking almost anywhere in the sky. Its the brightest spot and it just draws your gaze without realization. Similar way to spot moving objects, stare at a single point with an anchor spot to in background to compare distance and as way of keeping track of movement. Long enough staring youll start thinking you noticed something moving, youll look but not be able to tell, thats when you refer back to your anchor point and keep visual of the 2 at the same time. You can watch now as it moves around amongst the background. And soon enough youll start spotting more

  • In 1979 forest hills queens ny, myself and another graffiti artist were waiting outside a train yard where we saw the same thing. What we thought we’re seeing two shooting stars in a tandem formation and then then began to corkscrew around and each other and speed up until they hit an insane speed and vanished. We both flipped out and left and could not stop talking about it.

    Wow... Very interesting

what’s interesting to me is that this happened on the southern crux and at christmas time

it’s kind of fun trying to interpret the bible in astro-theological terms (the SUN of god appearing to die at the winter solstice for 3 days and then being re-born and rising once more); I believe one of these interpretations mentioned the sun appearing to hang on the southern crux for those 3 days

    anyway, thanks for sharing OP!

  • Download Stellarium so you can zoom in and see if movements are caused by satellite 🛰️. I don't think what you saw was a satellite, but it will help you check off one more box in the process of elimination for discovery.

  • Believer here. I witnessed white star-like orbs do the same in the northern cali. Months ago, I would wait til sunset in anticipation of the weirdness up in the skies over my small city. With binoculars, I saw on many occasions these white star-like things appear to travel from east to west and circle what I thought were to flying craft. The orbs would circle the craft very fast & then the craft would appear at a higher or lower area of the where it had just been encircled. I watched this over & over. You could not see it with the naked eye. Strange & very interesting. At one point, I called the military base to ask if they had any drones ( the craft) over the neighborhood to which they replied, “ yes, there is drone testing in the area”.

That was even more interesting. Wtf do we have that look like orbs that can traverse the sky, encircle a craft in a manner described above & then make that craft appear at another point in the sky?

This is some beam me up Scotty shit!

Which part of NorCal are you in? Solano Co here. Im pretty familiar with the main flying base up here and what you are describing is not likely from there. They do have some drones but all their drone ops are fairly basic and their drones are not flying any aerobatic patterns, at least from what I’ve observed the last several years. What you are describing sounds very interesting! I work lots of late nights and outside, very close to the base, and haven’t observed much here. When I worked on the Central Coast, near that base, it was a different story haha, when not engulfed by fog at least!

Hi neighbor! I’ve posted a few of my sightings. If you want to share/chat, I’m open.

  • When I was very young I saw what looked like a “star” coming in my field of view and move through the night sky as if it was a satellite. Then all of a sudden it stopped exactly in correspondence of a star, as if it was “hiding”, or camouflaging in front of it. Then it moved in another direction, again hiding in front of another star and repeated this action for about 6 or 7 times. Can't remember how this episode ended.

When I was about 10 I saw the same thing in Belgium in the 70s.

I was tracking what I thought was a satelite in the night sky, only for it to suddenly make a sharp turn and accelerate out of sight away from earth.

    It left me stunned.

Seen this too! A “star”(UAP) mimicking a star and then moving in front of another star perfectly to camouflage then it slowly moved from its position glided across the sky slowly picking up speed but this time fading away as if pulling away from earth in other cases like OPs I’ve too seen an orb move across the sky then blip away at lighting speeds leaving a greenish blue trail behind for like maybe .1-.2 seconds almost like a contrail of light moving so fast it had to catch up to itself

Jesus, this reminds me of exactly what a camouflage capable octopus can do to safely get around. Eerie.

  • I know the type. You have to have your eyes adjusted to the night sky. It helps if you look to the side of them, rather than directly at them to get a better view. Its weird, but I know exactly what you're talking about.

I would spend many hours every night for several years straight until I got in too deep and freaked my family and myself out...had to quit CE5 for a while.

  • Welcome to the club. Once you see this level of unexplainable phenomena in the sky, you’ll never view life in the same way again. It is paradigm breaking

It surely is. It's like everything changed in me after seeing that. I've spent a long time looking at the stars, now I can't ever look up to the night sky the same again.

Why though? Why could this not be some sort of unmanned vehicle? Without the right instruments you have no idea how high up it was. If it was close enough, then even these strange movements would be possible.

  • You have had personal disclosure. Welcome to the club. You're life will now be measured in two parts- the time before you witnessed this event, and the time after.

    I can feel you're right.

    Agreed. Disclosure is happening individually.

  • I am a star gazing nut and I’ve seen things exactly like you describe. It’s frustrating because you want to tell the world, and yet everyone assumes you’re larping if you don’t have 4k vid and even if you are lucky enough to capture these fleeting moments on video, people will just say it’s something mundane. I have come to believe these little individual moments are meant to convince us one by one…those of us paying attention and capable of grasping such massive truth.

You witnessed something amazing my friend and you should feel grateful for that. Thanks for sharing!

  • 3 eh? Just like Sphere Network author describes. Allegedly its some advanced AI defence grid over this planet. They probably fought off some invader.

  • Ive seen stars start moving after a couple minutes, the flash from space. Ive seen in flight path crafts disappear into space and a rotating object in orbit. And ive seen far away craft squiggle on the horizon. I believe your story is possible.

  • I have been seeing wierd things I n the sky for years here in the Florida Keys.

Get yourself a good pair of binoculars and you may see even stranger objects.

    Satellites do not maneuever.

  • Sounds like you may have seen orbs, I star gaze and have seen them since 2021 some even came up close before zooming off.

  • You are not alone. I had my first experience with a group of friends back in the 90's when I was 17. It broke my brain and led to a life long pursuit to understand the true nature of what is.

  • Thanks for sharing this! Your graphic really helped me visualise what you were describing. So very strange and unsettling. I would have freaked out if I experienced this myself.

  • Once I visited Kauai, Hawaii. We stayed at a hostel 50 ft from the breaking waves. At night we stayed up late and watched the stars for hours. 9pm one day. It was Oct 6th 2021. My friend pointed out what looked like a faint star moving like a satellite. It stopped on a dime, made J turns and blinked all before zooming off over the ocean. It was absolutely all the proof I needed. My first exposure to real life non ballistic motion. Your description is exact to my experience. How they look like faint stars. Like you can't see them unless you really try to see them. They are there in between the brighter stars. Truly bizarre stuff

  • Imma say this. A few years ago I started lying in my hammock at night to watch satellites crossing the skies. One night I saw a satellite acting strange, not going in a straight line so I got my binoculars to see better. It was gone by the time I got back. The next night I did the same thing but used my binoculars this time and I saw a lot more satellites but then I saw some lights doing strange things like traveling then stopping and going a different direction. I began spending my evenings in my hammock staring at the black night watching for these things. Depending on how much time I wanted to spend out there I could usually see at least one strange thing. It began to become quite normal. I gave up after weeks of doing this because it was not as exciting however, I still do it during the summer now and then. It's hard to get someone interested because it takes a lot of patience and you have to be super still in the hammock.

  • Eight nights ago at Bendemeer between Tamworth and Armidale I came out of my tent around 3:00am for a pee. Very clear night and a million stars. I noticed two faint points of light low down and to my perspective a very long way off to the east. They were both tracking north about twice the speed of a normal satellite, the slightly brighter one leading. Then it did a sort of a fish hook turn upwards and just after starting back south fade out. During this change I lost track of the second light point. A bit hard to explain.

  • When I was a teen I spent a lot of time outside at night in the suburbs just looking up at the stars. I saw shit like this a hand full of times. I swear, if you spend significant time just lying on your back watching the stars at night, you will eventually see something too.

  • My kids and I watched something like this happen last year when waiting for the Aurora to show up. Tried getting video but it didnt really pick anything up.

  • One night I was laying on my cot in my uncle's front yard randomly clicking my spotlight beam on and off at stars in the milky way. Then one blinked back. I thought it was some fluke so I paused a moment. After waiting a minute or so I intentionally blinked my light three times at that star. I'll be dammed if it didn't blink back three times. After a good ten minutes of exchanging perfectpy matched on and off patterns it just stopped. I stared at that fucking star until I passed out. It didn't blink anymore. I can't explain it and I wish I could. Was super fucking weird...

  • Always a bit sad that I’ve not really had any paranormal experiences or UFO sightings BUT years ago coming back from a Deerhoof gig, my friends and I stopped in a petrol station on the way back to London.

My friend, who’s stood outside looking up, says “it’s happening again” and directs us to look at this certain patch of sky. None of us knew what he was on about and then collectively we all gasped as we saw a star move around in the sky, change direction a few times and eventually stop. We all saw the exact same thing and my friend says he sees stuff like this all the time as he is an active sky watcher.

The skeptic in me doesn’t know why there isn’t tonnes of video available of this considering the amount of camera in space. But I know it wasn’t a trick of the eye. We all saw it.

  • I also remember looking at the stars a bunch of years ago with my wife and starting to follow the only thing moving in the night sky. A satellite we figured, and it behaved like one for about 10 seconds until it stopped fully, made a 90 degree turn and zoomed off like a space ship going into hyperspace before disappearing.

This happened during a trip to the US in Death Valley

  • Shout out to fellow SAgreat neighbours, heaps good.

  • My Dad said he saw something like this years ago, did it do a hook turn when it left? That's what he saw

  • I’ve seen these before!! Was about to go in the hot tub with some friends a few years ago. Saw a couple faint moving lights among the stars, I also assumed they were satellites at first, until one of them all of a sudden turned at a PERFECT Right angle and flew away. All of the sudden, several more appeared and I saw them moving in arcs. They would fade out of my sight during this part but they were moving in arcs, which would likely have been full circles if I was able to keep track of all of them. Really opened my eyes, they were so high up and dim, nothing that far off should be able to move at such extreme angles and speeds

  • For what it's worth, the only odd thing I've ever seen in the sky is a faint light, possibly distant star, going in tight circles. Didn't notice it circling anything, just moving in a tight circle. Tried to get a video on my crappy phone, and it's just a blur.
Nothing exciting, but I believe you.

  • When I was a toddler we very briefly lived in Dubai, around 2002-2003 my whole family was outside chatting at night and they saw a red flashing thing that everyone assumed was a satellite, it was moving across the sky quickly, my uncle pointed it out thinking it was a satellite, everyone saw it stop completely for a second then go in a completely different direction. I was there but I don't remember seeing anything, I just remember my whole family freaking out, they've talked about it for years. We all thought it must be some kind of super secret advanced government satellite that can change directions at will high up in the sky

  • That's the often described racetrack flying pattern as reported by many pilots. According to testimonies by Ryan Graves from the F18s, as well as commercial airliner sighting reports.

  • Saw something very similar in 98’ while walking my dog with my mom at around 7pm in Texas. I think, since I was so young, seeing it at that age has made me a lifelong believer, even though 99% of the crap I see online isn’t real.

  • I haven’t seen what OP saw, but have seen a “star” in the wrong place, where a star of that magnitude shouldn’t be, abruptly start to move across the sky, then just as abruptly stop and sit there stationary.

Still have no idea what that was. I was crewing on a sailing boat out at sea at the time, middle of a night watch.

  • I live in a 3 story townhouse, me and my daughter often stargaze at night on the top floor as she loves it. We have seen some seriously unexplainable shit quite frequently over the last few years, compared to next to nothing before. I truly believe what you have seen, as we have seen similar speeds from almost stationary bright objects instantaneously accelerating to incredible speeds and disappearing off into the distance at the blink of an eye. The most profound one we have ever seen, the light seemed like it was right above the house and then shot up vertically into space getting smaller and smaller until it disappeared - my daughter speaks about it all the time and has completely changed her mindset on how the world works.

  • Good to hear another person seeing this stuff. Dunno what it is. But probably the same stuff all over the Palomar plates. I do feel there’s an uptick. Could be new or ancient tho…

  • I had a similar encounter in the early 90s on a camping trip. Though it involved more like ten of them and lasted probably 30 minutes. Decades before drones and Star Link.

  • I have seen similar. Either very faint light or very bright. Sometimes moving straight or just still and you think “star or satellite” and then WHOOSH zoom off like the Enterprise. I wonder if they become aware of being observed and leave?

  • "They are here"

    Prove it.

  • I believe you, thank you for sharing. I've heard of UAP posing as stars before and it sounds like that's what this started as.

  • On a Saturday morning in October without a cloud in the sky I saw a metallic sphere with senors coming out from it, simply suspend in the air over a corn field. I was driving down a not so busy county road. At most it was only 150 feet in the air and maybe 100 meters from me and the road. I stopped reached for my phone, but when I looked up it was gone. It either vanished or saw me and cloaked. And I don't care if anyone believes me. It didn't frighten me and in fact part of me wasn't shocked at all. The experience was strange. I swear it was almost like "this is for your eyes only". I should draw a diagram, but like I say. I just really don't care. I'm not motivated to convince anyone. It's kind strange and counter intuitive.

  • A friend & I saw something like this before in New Jersey in 1999. Thought it was a satellite, at first. Dum star moving in a straight line until it zigged left, the zagged right before zooming off to the left again. The zig zag covered about 45 degrees of the sky in less than a second.

  • One time several years ago. I was out star gazing and saw an average looking "star", average as in brightness and size. Anyway, it would turn off and on, in the same spot. Every few seconds, off then on, for about a minute. Then it suddenly at a really high speed just took off! Wasn't a satellite as I'm familiar with those or a shooting star. I've been a long time stargazer and never seen anything like before.

I posted the same story on Reddit a few other times, because it's true!

  • I had some similar experience in 1996. Only like dim stars „dancing“ with each other in the sky.

  • to OP, I was once looking with a group to stars, Some had lasers as they were showing constellations, I went to the back and I saw what I thought was an airplane about to prepare to land, except only one big light. He crossed from side to were we were standing, super silent, then started to move up towards the stars and accelerated disappearing, not a single noise, into the stars. Took like 2 seconds to go away and cross from where we were other side of earth. Crazy thing I didn’t realize at the moment it was looking at us and silent, for a few seconds I thought it was an airplane.

  • Y'know, i recommended posting this to r/experiencers aswell. It sounds like youre having some ontological shock, and r/experiencers is a support subreddit for people dealing with the shock of realizing sophisticated intelligence is out there.

This. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Yeah, welcome to the club. Could you elaborate on why this “ruins” your whole life

  • "This ruined my whole year.. my whole life" 😮‍💨 unfortunately, this type of reaction is justification to keep disclosure bottled up. I went through a profound "awakening" period myself when I got into this subject.

OP, give this experience a few months. Once it sinks in that WE ARE NOT the only intelligent life in the universe, come back and tell us if you want to know more or if you would have rather not witnessed anything at all.

  • My cousin and I were at our family reunion in Choctaw Nation area of Oklahoma.

We're laying on top of a rock at Robber's Cave just admiring the stars.

All of a sudden a bright white "star" comes speeding across the sky and then zig zags. Basically made 3 or 4 right hand turns or even more extreme.

I ask my cousin, "You seeing what I'm seeing?" And he goes, "I was just about to ask you the same thing."

Anywho, it stops all of a sudden right above us for about 10 seconds and then all of a sudden, it gets really bright and larger (best I can describe is it appeared to be gathering energy), and then when it was done, it lit up the entire night sky as if releasing a ton of energy and shot straight up into space at a speed that is fairly indescribable.

We sat there in silence for God knows how long before looking at each other the way two dudes look at each other when there's emotions they don't know how to deal with.

Can't remember if we ever said anything to each other or anyone else. Don't even remember climbing down off the rocks...

Something in your post reminded me of that night (not that I ever forgot); just thought it'd be nice to share to give you some confirmation if you were even needing any.

  • I'm a prolific stargazer and super ameture space enthusiast.

A couple months ago I was looking at the night sky, roughly towards Jupiter. Suddenly I see a tiny dot flying around. I was like wtf?

So i googled the ISS coordinates at th time abd they were nowhere close. And then space x shit or satellite. But.. it couldn't be anything like that as it was traveling in a way that was clearly not an orbit

  • Ooh, maybe I'll look early tomorrow morning, use Stellarium to find those from NZ and shine my laser at them for funsies. See if they blink back.

I'm in NZ, I'll see if I can catch it on my wee telescope, if the damn clouds ever go away!

  • What kind of telescope are you using?

Btw I believe you. Happy you got to see something that most will never see.

It's not a telescope. It's an online website called "Stellarium", where you can search and observe in real time, our universe, including constellations, planets, etc.

  • What was your exact location and exact time would be very useful

  • Don't freak out, be excited and comforted!!

  • I believe you and what you saw.

  • Saw the same basic thing in SW US, but both lights shot off to opposite horizons after circling as if tethered in zero g.

But why so sure it's alien? Our secret factions have been burning trillions for several decades. Others must exist, but I'd wager that the majority of unknowns are local Homo sapiens sourced.

  • I have seen almost exactly this in the past. No explanation satisfies... to see a satellite stop and move in another direction suddenly is maddening as someone who routinely star gazes.

  • I saw almost the exact same thing 14 years ago in the Mojave desert while on fire watch in 29 palms. I believe you.

  • Unexplained sure, intelligent life, that’s quite a leap of faith.

  • They are here! Just in time :) and don’t let it ruin your life! Wasn’t it pretty cool and special? They probably did that just for you. The universe is a big place, everything will be ok.

  • I want to add, OP you might appreciate. A few years back on the West Coast I’m the US my then gf and I were driving along next to the ocean, and the weirdest thing happened. We gazed up at the sky outside the car )never do that usually) and we saw a “satellite” moving slowly across the sky in a straight line. Nothing unusual really, they’re everywhere now. But then seconds later, this object did the thing where it sped up, looking like a shooting star, snd then zipped out of the horizon.

We thought it was a shooting star but then talked to each other and noted how that didn’t make sense since it zipped across and kind of upward in the sky, not down towards the ocean.

  • I saw a space jump like that back in 94. It’s incredible to see that such a technology exists.

Red light in the sky completely still, slowly moving, completely stops again, in the blink of an eye it’s on the other side of the sky

I saw this for two hours.

It’s incredible to see something like that. That’s why I’ve always been a believer that at the very least someone on this friggin planet has access to technology that would absolutely change human civilization

  • This is just another piece of information to support what people have said. They imitate stars , they probably imitate falling stars. The recent study from Villaroel's photographic plates, etc. Something is clearly going on. They stay just at the fringes of plausible deniability for most people. But if you're paying attention, it's not really plausible.

  • This reads like fanfic. Specially ending with they are here.

  • Eastern Nsw here, and observed the same kind of things plus loads more, some things just too far out to even write!

Definitely some interesting and unexplained things starting to ramp up in the skies again after a long period of not much.

  • We are seeing something in our skies , im sure of it

  • Saw a very similar phenomenon also in Australia (Boomi, NSW, near QLD border) I can describe it easily as “dancing stars”, could see a formation of three, one was going to the center, then returning to original position, then the other two would do the same. Formation of two, one moving to the other one’s position then coming back, then the other one doing the same. We could see around 15 of these “stars” moving all around the visible night sky. Me and 2 other people saw them. We first spotted them at 12am and lasted until 3am

  • Looks like a fly.

  • Welcome to the club.

  • you're merely confirming what Beatriz Villarroel discovered

  • Next time say "hello".

  • If you're really a seeker of truth but never seriously considered intelligent life elsewhere, or even here, you're not seeking all that hard. This is a very cool observation if real, but your last paragraph threw me off.

  • > What am I supposed to do with this knowledge

Yup, that's pretty much how it goes.

  • Let's not lose our footing. Can any of this be confirmed or even plausibly explained using known physics and existing observation systems?

  • no other explanation indeed

  • I've seen similar phenomena in South Alabama multiple times

  • I've seen em too, crazy huh?

  • I stargaze often and have seen my fair share of weird shit. My phone is terrible at trying to get close but I have lots of videos, and some from the night I woke up around 2, looked put the window towards the north and just kept seeing this ball of light emerge from behind the tree line, then either fade out or just flashed and disappeared, ot repeated probably 20 times, never the same path, I sat watching for about an hour till I went back to sleep. Most of the things I can explain but that night I have no idea.

  • Get used to relaying your story to people to then be greeted with silence.

Many people will not care, will not be curious and will find any way they can to invalidate you and your story

    Welcome to the minority

I'm in Victoria and I saw one last Christmas and it was utterly unmistakable

And yet I'm either ignored or quietly ridiculed

  • There are things up there moving under intellect control. In my day we called them ufos but they went out of fashion...

  • Google autokinetic effect

  • This is known and explained satellite and satellite hitting them. This has been explained 1 million times and I’ve been showing how it’s done 1 billion times more.

  • I saw something like this once but during the day time. It was there for at least 15 minutes moving around and and then finally darted off.

  • Love this post!! Thank you for sharing it. I’m in WA. Will keep my eyes peeled. Love the yeet in it too 😁

  • I hope this actually hasn’t ruined your whole year. Assuming we know how the universe works and what it contains is so full of hubris. We know so little. Science is about being wrong when new data enters our observation. Flow with the new data.

  • You will carry this moment in awe as the most unbelievable thing you’ve ever seen while others have different theories.

  • Similar thing happened to me and my wife about 7 years ago or so, two “Stars” rotating around making 90° turns at Mach 100 it was truly an amazing experience

  • I think beings just live out there in actual space. Made of different stuff and a different type of intelligence.

  • That is awesome; sounds like you saw something really cool. I call that the WTF NOPE Experience as you continue watching and shouting while searching for the nearest asylum. If it is any consolation, the year is almost over.

There are some things that are unknown for now. I find that oddly comforting—some things are still a mystery waiting for disclosure or discovery.

  • It was a day ago in Melbourne around 11pm I was walking the dog and I looked up and noticed something move pretty fast - looked like a star at first, but bigger. I tried to follow it and lost it behind clouds and then it popped out again! I don’t know enough about Starlink so thought maybe it was that. Very obviously moving at a consistent speed. I scanned the skies tonight but didn’t see anything. Eta: no weird movements, just moving quickly so I reckon a satellite

  • Seeing that would have made my year, not ruined it! What an amazing, wonderful experience. Open your mind to the vastness of the Universe.

  • I thought that big was projected in the sky by the aliens

  • The circling sounds like fireflies.

  • I saw lights doing something similar just a few days ago in northern central ut. It was 3 or so lights zooming in and out and all around in a circle together when they met up. They initially looked like spotlights until I realized they were inside the cloud cover rather than being casted upon them. That feeling of “how does no one else see this” is so hard. I understand. You wont unless your eyes are open to seeing. Ive watched the skies my whole life. I called my brother a few months ago to see the giant green beam of light that I was witnessing. He saw nothing even though he lives just a few blocks away from me and called me crazy. Even though I have photos and video.

  • Ya the stars will talk to you sometimes if your patient
