I think the main reason is strategic mastery of this technology. It's so far beyond anything we have, so deny it exists, discourage reporting, while secretly studying it so that when the time comes you have the ultimate strategic advantage.
Plus it can be extremely disruptive to very rich people. If this technology operates on alternative energy sources, it would destabilize the billionaires making money on oil, it changes the entire geopolitical landscape as far as resources go.
It's a huge question mark and those in power like stability, hence the cover up (at least those are my thoughts, there is so much we still don't know about these things)

If we simply knew that aliens exist, that wouldn’t necessarily affect religion that much. Those who are religious would find ways to explain it to themselves. But I feel like if we were to get a full detailed breakdown of aliens, that could definitely affect our religion. In some more detailed interviews, I keep hearing that there is often a religious component to it that would shock people. We’ll probably never hear of it in that much detail though.

I‘m not sure if you have a degree or a scientific background but for people who have we definitely don‘t have "so much" evidence. We need data backed, clear photographical or video evidence which we certainly don‘t have in a sufficient number. 99.99% of evidence is anecdotal and that is simply not enough to prove anything.
There is a large portion of this sub that fundamentally misunderstands the difference between evidence and verifiable evidence. The people who don't understand the difference think that the people that do are stupid for not believing in all this stuff or think they work for the government or something. When really the two different groups just aren't playing by the same set of rules.
Because it is easy to misidentify footage like this if the object doesn't clearly demonstrate any of the 5 observables.
For example this one is 99.9% sure it's just a solar balloon like I mentioned in the other comment with videos, but if you never seen a footage like that debunked, you may be convinced it's an alien ship.
Because all it is currently is unidentified. No-one knows what has changed, are we alone, were there other beings here but no longer, are they transdimensional, time travellers, do these contain organic beings or just drone like objects. Great question! Couple of reasons IMO.
1- Insane economic pressure for a while now. Why care about aliens when people are struggling to put food on the table?
2- Whether people want to admit it or not - if its not part of a mass media push by the deep state, people don't care to engage. Think about the gender wars lately - it didn't seem like it was as weaponized some 10 - 20 years ago. But NOW, its everywhere and there is money in it through clicks and engagement. There is almost no incentive to create discourse on aliens (for the average Joe and Jill) as it is for WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE TABLE and MALE LONELINESS EPIDEMIC etc.
3- Ignorance is Bliss. You'd be surprised how many, many people there are that would have their world view shattered by admittance to alien life. There are millions of people that wholeheartedly believe that the world is 6000 years old, possibly flat, dinosaurs don't exist, but dragons did. If you come out, on national television, and admit to those people that this IS real.... yeah... the hysteria would be destructive en mass. So... you just don't look in that direction. - IF those are lights, you have no way of knowing that they're "embedded". The image is not nearly clear enough to prove whether they are "embedded" or somehow attached to the side. Either outcome is not "advanced" either. What is advanced about "embedded" lights?
- This not being AI doesn't clear it from being created by other means, digitally or physically. So you're not wrong about it not being AI, but it also doesn't make this "real".
- You have zero way to prove that this wouldn't be "ours". Why would "our" tech not fly over cities or flash lights? That's literally what all of "our" technology does already.

The source OP provided ends before it accelerates off at impossible speed. If you were witnessing this in a crowd of other people, wouldn't you film it for as long as possible? Or someone else would.
So what happened? Is it still there? Is it just a solar balloon, possibly tethered at one end. That would explain why it seems to rotate around the end, instead of the center. The "lights" look exactly like reflected sunlight.

The shape is right, but that balloon undulates pretty readily in the wind. OP’s video is rigid and doesn’t appear to undulate at all. Still, it only appears from the video to possess one of the five observables (positive lift, which is also a characteristic of balloons), so there may be a prosaic explanation.
With all that said, I don’t think there’s enough to debunk it or confirm it as an unexplainable uap, so 🤷🏻♂️
From what I can tell reading the comments, you and I seem to be the only ones who’ve noticed this. Yes, solar balloons undulate in the sky, bending back and forth in a snake-like motion. But the object in this video looks rigid, so it’s pretty obvious it’s not a solar balloon.
I’m usually the first one to be skeptical about the videos posted on this sub, but this is a video I actually feel like defending, because the explanation offered by the skeptics just doesn’t convince me at all. As you say, the shape is right but the motion isn't.
A higher altitude means less pressure means that it is inflated more and less likely to serpentine. It's an overinflated solar balloon.
