This year was actually better than some recent years. When I was younger? Way more options to watch a countdown at midnight, even if it wasn't local.
There were a few of us on the Edmonton sub asking about a local YouTuber who has been great for a few years but wasn't able to this year. Hopefully next year!
Yup it’s very different here. You either enjoy the NYE outdoors or have your own party indoors. They don’t care for any holiday coverage on TV and I’ve gotten used to it TBH and I love it being here for 10 years now.
We would always tune into CNN that covered the ball drop in New York. I think it was a cactus or a cowboy boot they dropped on the mountain time coverage lol, not quite the same.
We usually watched the US coverage just because the bands and entertainment tended to be better than the Canadian stuff
Interesting. Are you not able to get the US coverage here? I’ve watched the ball drop a bunch of times myself.
Honestly not trying to argue with you. Just trying to understand what the difference from the east coat to here is
The ball drops at 10PM here. Obviously it can still be watched but if you're watching a live countdown at midnight you're watching the coverage of cities in MT
Mountain Time Zone is best time zone and I will believe that until I die. But the one sacrifice we have to make is that nobody does a broadcast of Denver or Salt Lake ringing in the new year.

We work hard to disappoint 😂
Hard work is what Albertans live for
I was impressed that Calgary live streamed the fireworks and the display was actually decent.
I watched it on cbc it was live in Edmonton most of the night…….
Strombo did a show last night with Big Wreck and Sloan. They live streamed it. That was kinda cool.
Perks of being in the Mountain time zone. Used to be all you could watch was a repeat of the Niagara Falls NYE celebration on TV.
You can still watch EST coverage and then go to bed.
No, I lived in American Samoa, they are the last populated area on the planet to ring in the new year.
In bed at 10 watching EST new years. Sounds like a win to me.
This may be the way next year
Happy New Year!
Hahaha spoiler alert!!!
I dunno. I watched it on CBC with the kids then crashed out.
The weather change is on some epic level.
I've been told we can watch a potatoe fall in Idaho that's live streamed in mst. Maybe next year?
Lol definitely sounds like an improvement on the cowboy boot and cactus I've seen so far

Happy New Year!🥳
That it's a corrupt petrostate run by kleptocrats?
Why would we want nye coverage on tv?
It was definitely a thing in the family home when I grew up
Lots of people like watching coverage of the different festivities/shows/events put on in places across the country.
When I went out there, Nobody told me about the dry -40 temperature, compared to the oceans dampness
Who exactly are the "they"?
People still use ‘tv’?
Dozens are sold daily in the province.
Guess you missed the quotes.
‘—‘ aren’t quotation marks “—“ are quotation marks.
He's using it right. One ' , not , "
Quoting what some one else said, or
emphasizing a word,
or distancing self from a word.

'tv' instead of " tv "
Our TV coverage is only about us and some BC stuff. We all just ignore Ontario, Quebec and everyone else.
I know enough to know Vancouver banned all fireworks this year. Good for them. It freaks out the wildlife.
Why do you need coverage of New Years? It happens at the same time every year
As someone who has really only seen Albertan coverage, can you explain a bit more about what the difference is? I’m curious!

Same here,, im not the one who puts it on in our house to know what channel it was,, but have totally seen it multiple different years on the tv

Well that is how time zones work.
It’s too cold…
TV was turned off following the World Junior hockey, to join in on the NYE celebrations. 🎆
Mountain Time Zone is best time zone and I will believe that until I die. But the one sacrifice we have to make is that nobody does a broadcast of Denver or Salt Lake ringing in the new year.
It's pretty great if you want to go to bed at 10:30.
I watched the YouTube livestream of Edmonton’s fireworks. Have to be the mellowest fireworks show I have seen.
70% of the rural population doesn’t have a high school diploma and that is exactly how the UCP like it..
celebrate new years at 9pm and go to bed early, it's bloody glorious man.
Go outside. Turn your tv off
It was on in the bar but sure 👍
OMG, subpar NYE TV programming than out east!
Go to New York if you want go NYE show lol
What’s nye lol?
Bill Nye, he may or may not be a science guy.
I know a bill. His coverage is usually pretty decent
