• Some bad news for Lac Ste. Anne County, the last 18 months in Medicine Hat have been tumultuous.

There has been a lot stories this past year that have come-out about the previous CAOs reign in the hat, multiple respectful workplace complaints, failure to follow by-laws when restructuring personnel, lying to council, and hiring friends.

Some more information on the history and the lawsuit: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/ann-mitchell-sues-city-mayor-9.7027132

As I said on the Medicine Hat sub, this lady deserves for her reputation to be damaged, and I hope Lac St Anne hears this.

This lady has been extremely toxic and at the heart of the drama that put our council on a national spotlight of embarrassment. There is no doubt that is why when the mayor went for reelection (which she was late to announce), the voters backed her and got rid of the old council. Every. Single. One. Even the ones that have been around for a decade.

I stand behind Mayor Clark, and I loathe that Ann thinks she is entitled to more of our public dollars than she has already ill begotten. May your prospects burn and wither Ann

    well said. Completely Agree.

I can't imagine the hiring committee didn't google her name... If I was a resident of Lac Ste. Ann my reeve would have some explaining to do.

  • I don't know this lady or whether any of the allegations are true.

I will say that one of my parents was a town manager for about 15 years. It is extremely common for town/city Managers to be fired before the end of their contract (commonly right after a new council comes in). It is so common, that most negotiate a severance package before accepting a position.

Their job is primarily to make recommendations to Council for bylaw and policy options and then execute their decisions. They are common scapegoats when Mayor and Council need a political win or they feel like their family, friends, or business have suffered.

    In short, municipal government suuuucks.

The Courts will rule on who was wronged. I will wait for that to happen before I pass judgement.
