I did this to my '72 WASR with the crappy factory furniture. Sanded it, brushed red food coloring into it, then added three coats of poly, carefully hitting it with steel wool between coats. It elevates it to as sexy as a WASR can get, and it's fooled a lot of people into thinking it's a higher-end Kalashnikov.

Surprised the walnut came out that color. Almost looks like surplus m70 furniture.
Ikr? It's really light. , I plan on dying some surplus (blue,green maybe) but for now made this look better
