Awesome! There’s the pro AI subreddit you could do that in. But might have a hard time breaking through these very important team meeting topics:
ME ART
STUPID ANTIS
AI GOOD
Heh - stupid antis 😏
AI is coming 🙏
IF BANANA ART THEN ME ART
HUMAN SLOP - points at artist error
Soon they will see >:(
When you bring it up, make sure to preface it will the necessary hedge: “I love AI! I’m pro AI! Anti bad! AI art is art! I’m pro AI!… but..” otherwise you might get spears thrown at you by the tribe. If you make it past the tribal filter expect a response in response like this:
“Ermm, people use petrol to burn houses down.. so..”
If you didnt look at it with hostility and disdain, You might realize that the pro subreddit mostly minds its own business.
I poke around in the anti subs and all I see is pretty much what you described, but the anti versions. It's all reposts of the pro sub.
Hilariously when I search reddit for the anti sub I see several posts (from other antis) about leaving it or how toxic it is because thats pretty much all they do in there.
"I came here to get away from AI art and you guys are just reposting it here" was a pretty common theme.
I can criticise both pro and anti. Anti have a lot of weak soul in art arguments from people who don’t know how to articulate what they’re saying with anything tangible. Doom posting. Water usage misinfo (so does pro AI though). Purist posturing. Have fought with people trying to normalise the “kill AI artists” meme. But I can’t ever criticise pro without them pointing at anti lol. It’s always the “but mooooom!!” Defence.
I lurked in the pro AI sub for a while, was hoping to see some legit AI stuff, like people doing cool shit with it, technical stuff. (Occasionally see a gem on the AI art subreddit). What I saw was an endless stream of complaining, posturing, strawmen, not much about AI lol. It’s all identity shit. Ideology. I came in to this area of the internet open minded, took my time to form an opinion. But I have largely come to this: Pro AI’s culture sucks ass. So I don’t wanna join the team, even though I’m very interested in AI. Don’t want to join anti even though I’m a digital artist/musician for some similar reasons, anti has their own tribal idiots.
But that means I’m free to have opinions that don’t fit neatly into either camp, many seem unable but definitely not everyone.
I Saw both reddits as well, and IS like that 100%.
I myself like AI for some things, and i know there are fields in wich IS truly useful without entering the discourse of firing people to make things cheaper and all that crap, but god as an industry IS bad..
But personal options aside, i Saw that both comunities are quite polarized to the point is infuriating not to get into them if you dont hate AI or want to defend It like if It was a religion.
Yes, there are going to be assholes who use a technology. If there's always going to be such broad guilt by association applied then no rational discourse is possible
It's the same reason why I call out the "but your side sends death threats so your arguments are irrelevant" comments. There is a time and place in calling out bad behavior within a community
I give a damn, I block people who are antagonistic towards me, and I believe in rational discussions cuz I've had a lot of them with people in "both camps".
To be clear I believe in rational discourse as well. That's precisely why I just dismiss when people say "yeah but look what your side did!" I meant more that, if someone is to insist on guilt by association, then there is no discussion to be had
I denounce them when I see them. I can't control what every person on the internet does. Do you want to be held responsible for every "we need to kill the AI artists" commenter?
The what? There's no need to AI users to try to become accepted. It would be futile anyway since antis are already set in their ignorant ways and will never change.
They're only a tiny toxic minority though. Outside of fandom/shitposting/teen bubbles, in the real world, actual professionals have already adopted AI tools in almost every field, including most creative fields.
It's only a matter of time until antis get tired of screeching AI BAD and move on to the next manufactured outrage pushed on them by influencers.
That is... Unfortunately correct. There's no free speech in the defending ai sub. Sometimes I want to support AI, but there are also times I wanted to criticize against so it could be better, but unfortunately that pro AI sub is overly sensitive and banhammer happy, quite different from the anti AI sub.
That is real. But, to be fair, a lot of this is coming from the most toxic debate space around this subject. I don't even think of "pros" and "antis" as real. They're just people who need something to foam at the mouth about it. Ecological impact, slop, and deepfakes have done that for the antis and constant death threats/scorched Earth policy have done it for the pros.
Most people, who spend even a minor amount of time actually informing themselves about this, end up where the "pros" you were talking about are: This technology has a lot of potential and even proven benefits, but its detriments are a serious threat.
It's unfortunate that the reaction to that is aggression and attempts to delegitimize that person... Potentially from both sides.
I've found that most people here are civil, and there is lots of civil conversation to be had.... There is just SOOOOOOO much ragebait from both camps to sift through.
I'm glad I waited this sub out. I was just watching from the sidelines to see what was going on and, it's nice that even if someone is trying to post "in favor" of their camp, the comments will be mostly level-headed.
nah game over for those guys once ai world models hit and once we get some of the early open source world models. gg it completely erases the grey area there currently is so 1 year 2 years its over
Not to be pedantic, but the “Pro-AI community” isn’t a thing, and if it were, no “acceptance” is needed.
At the core of the Pro-AI movement (we’ll just call it that for now) is anti-harassment/bullying, and against the needless labeling or calling out of peoples work that may or may not have included the use of AI tools.
What you have in the screen shot is some simple rage bait, btw, and anyone taking it seriously has lost the plot.
It's more just when an anti movement exist there has to be the opposite.
Like anti Vax and how the opposite of that is just a normal human but normal people doesn't have such a great sub name so pro ai is probs the better choice.
stuff real artists put on their art (the piss filter and other stuff)
What? Are you trying to say that non-AI artists are putting the 'piss filter' on their art, and pro-AI people are developing ways to remove it? Because that... doesn't sound right? The 'piss filter' is something unique to chatGPT because it tends to make images overly warm.
Unless non-AI artists started putting a yellow tint on their images for fun, it shouldn't really have anything to do with them.
The things AI users are building tools to get around are things like glaze and nightshade both of which have very dubious levels of effectiveness in the first place.
The AI does a good job at drawing the images literally, but it failed to copy a lot of things in the original drawing that must have took creative thought. Also, running it through an AI saying it "looks better," while the AI image removed a lot of artistic elements, is pretty insulting.
With a little bit of self-reflection, you may realize this is because pro-ai-art folk are fighting for the right to be inconsiderate twats in a manner very similar to anti-maskers, and pointless ragebaiting is a very natural next step.
Want to be different?
• Accept that AI art has a very real chance to displace human artists,
• consider accepting some sacrifices and compromises to reduce or prevent this risk.
It's not a big ask. Some watermarks here, some tagging there.
Agree. And the attitude of the comments here too. "This must be a false flag, it can't be us" "even if we weren't acting like pieces of shit they'd still be mean to us" "we aren't a hivemind or group so I will in no way acknowledge or give any opinion on this behaviour"
A few "Yeah, that's not a nice thing to do" would be more than enough for me but it seems like the majority here aren't even capable of that smallest crumb of empathy.
It’s like most Pro-AI think this will actually work… I feel shame for the few smart Pro-AI, having to be associated with all the ragebaiting idiots, so if the smart Pro-AI folks here are seeing this, I’m sorry you have to watch your side fail because of the morons on your side.
Anti-AI can have respect, but like anyone else normal, we have no respect for ragebait.
Either this is someone who doesn't realize how insulting that is to reply to the post itself, or its someone intentionally trying to troll by playing dumb.
People clearly like the original art, the only person who supposedly liked the AI version was that poster who could just be stirring shit.

It was already not socially acceptable to "fix" art before AI, too...
I'll be sure to bring this up at the next Pro-AI staff meeting.
Youve been fired in favor of AI.
Also I fired myself in favor of AI.
Tough but fair
Oh no! Groundskeeper Willie has prevailed!
One of my all time favorite reaction gifs 🤣🤣
✨️ Employee of the month behavior ✨️
I'll bring the anti tears.

I largely agree.
Along with all the in-fighting.

Funny meme lol
a repost of a repost of a repost about people acting like dipshits on Twitter.
Lemme go ahead and check how many fucks I have to give....
Well shit. I'm all out.
Are you sure? Please man, anything helps. I just need enough fuck to catch the bus.
You don't have to announce that for everyone. No one cares
Apparently, at least four people care. 🤔
Wow, a whole 4 people
Not a lot - but it was some!
It's why I try to avoid generalizations and blanket statements like "nobody cares" - because there's always an exception.
2 problems
Just because they upvoted doesn't mean they care. They could have easily had the same feeling and upvoted to show they thought the same.
There is a thing in statistics called an outlier. You don't have to treat every example as if it represents the whole group.
Also true!
You don't have to announce that for everyone. No one cares
Same to you.
I just can't bring myself to give a damn.
Yes, there are going to be assholes who use a technology. If there's always going to be such broad guilt by association applied then no rational discourse is possible

Absolutely agree. Both "camps" can also be so gatekeep-y.
"I believe in rational discourse, that's why I ignore bad actors in my community who are being actively harmful to it" isn't the flex you think it is
I denounce them when I see them. I can't control what every person on the internet does. Do you want to be held responsible for every "we need to kill the AI artists" commenter?

Ehhhh.... Not all antis are screeching.
Some of the antis are just pros who got labeled antis by other pros.
That is... Unfortunately correct. There's no free speech in the defending ai sub. Sometimes I want to support AI, but there are also times I wanted to criticize against so it could be better, but unfortunately that pro AI sub is overly sensitive and banhammer happy, quite different from the anti AI sub.
I've not been banned from there (thus far), definitely sorry you went through that.
That is real. But, to be fair, a lot of this is coming from the most toxic debate space around this subject. I don't even think of "pros" and "antis" as real. They're just people who need something to foam at the mouth about it. The people (yes people) on the anti subs have shown that their hate train takes no stop for any nuance.
Playing their game is like playing "Yes or no": https://youtu.be/88et7YlmzTs
Why play their game if they never let anyone else ever be correct in their minds?
Simple answer: don't care about their Calvinball nonsense.
I CANNOT WIN!
So… “I can act however bad as id like because yall are worse 😂😂😂” Or am i misreading?
You're misreading.
It's "no matter what I do, the people (yes, people) on the anti subs will complain"
Actually i kinda get that. Is this in response to the posts title or excusing the behavior shown in the image?
It's shitty behavior on a platform that pays people for shitty behavior.
Not excusing it, but I don't hold anyone outside of that site for actions done on there. The shitty behavior is rewarded there for being shitty.
Thats fair then.
nah game over for those guys once ai world models hit and once we get some of the early open source world models. gg it completely erases the grey area there currently is so 1 year 2 years its over
THANK YOU.
Reminder that art is subjective. A good chunk of the comments were criticizing people for liking the art.

I think being anti-harassment is half the battle?
The other is ethical development and usage of the tools.
It's more just when an anti movement exist there has to be the opposite.
Like anti Vax and how the opposite of that is just a normal human but normal people doesn't have such a great sub name so pro ai is probs the better choice.
Not sure that anti-vax and anti-AI images are comparable tbh
Given how trivially easy is to do this as a false flag attack I don't even think this is coming from the pro AI side.
Well you’re kinda right because they probably don’t care about AI and just have a hate boner for Artists. I’ve seen it a lot on Twitter.
How does one go about getting accepted by an anti anyway?
[deleted]
What? Are you trying to say that non-AI artists are putting the 'piss filter' on their art, and pro-AI people are developing ways to remove it? Because that... doesn't sound right? The 'piss filter' is something unique to chatGPT because it tends to make images overly warm.

it does look better
That's not the point. The AI bro is being a dick about it is the point.
The AI does a good job at drawing the images literally, but it failed to copy a lot of things in the original drawing that must have took creative thought. Also, running it through an AI saying it "looks better," while the AI image removed a lot of artistic elements, is pretty insulting.
It looks so much worse
It does look better in the second tho
Not the point though...
Wtf are you looking at? The ai ruined it.
Isnt this quite obviously someone trying to make AI look stupid, not a genuine comment?
People will say this then unironically post the fifth 'we must kill all AI artists' meme of the week
Both are bad
Yea this was dirty.
Why did you remove the artists username, they are amazing
"I made the expressions and lighting worse; you should thank me!"
With a little bit of self-reflection, you may realize this is because pro-ai-art folk are fighting for the right to be inconsiderate twats in a manner very similar to anti-maskers, and pointless ragebaiting is a very natural next step.

Not every pro-AI is like that...
But I guess your requests aren't a big ask either-
I would not be surprised if antis are using AI this way.. Not saying its the case here, i just wouldn't be surprised if it was..
Fake as hell probably someone talking to themselves like a schizo. Next piece of rage bait please.
Just gonna leave this here.
You don't even know me, bro
Side note: love the pfp. I watched the pilot and thought it was amazing, but havent heard anything since.
I love Rocky Rickaby, but the comics, the community, and the author are unfortunately kinda mid.
I think most people are empathetic.
Just the antagonistic people are always the loudest, even when they are the minority.
Yeah. I never once commented in an anti-AI subreddit and yet I was accused of making a half-assed false flag post :p
I did once (commented in an Anti-AI subreddit).
And promptly forgot about it until someone called me out for it. 😩
would not be a issue if people did not take someones art and run it in AI to screw with the artist like fuck that guy.
Yeah, that's the point of the post lol
I no bros, Reddit won’t accept us ;-;
Why not let the AI argue for itself why it should be here?
Bots are against most social medias' TOS lol
Honestly, it is a serious dick thing to do.
It’s like most Pro-AI think this will actually work… I feel shame for the few smart Pro-AI, having to be associated with all the ragebaiting idiots, so if the smart Pro-AI folks here are seeing this, I’m sorry you have to watch your side fail because of the morons on your side.

If you don't want people using your art in Ai, I've got a wonderful solution for you:
DON'T POST IT IN THE FIRST PLACE
"If you dont want to be assaulted stay home" type argument.
Maybe you shouldn't be stealing work
Not being a bitch towards artists is enough for me tbh
