Does anyone have some good links to studies supporting the effectiveness of N95 masks?

I remember seeing a graphic on here a while ago of how many hours you can sit next to a Covid positive person with a mask and not get it (vs not wearing a mask) but can’t find it. Thanks

    • Covid primarily spreads through small airborne particles which can stay in the air for a long time (even after the sick person leaves the room). This provides the main motivation for masking. This source also has a good except about N95s: ”A study compared the viral filtration efficiency of N95, surgical, and fabric masks using a model virus and found that the efficiency of N95 and some surgical masks exceeded 99%; all fabric masks tested were at least 50% efficient (181). The effectiveness of N95, surgical, and cotton masks in blocking SARS-CoV-2–containing aerosols has been investigated using manikins placed face-to-face. N95 respirators demonstrated the highest efficiency in blocking infectious SARS-CoV-2 (182).”
    • Another study that found that an N95 is very effective at filtering covid particles.
    • Wearing a respirator can significantly reduce the risk of getting covid (as well as every other respiratory virus) when it fits well and is used properly. This study is about FFP3s but it’s still relevant.
