I feel like the main reason why people don't like him is because he got in the between Dr. Sturgis and Connie, but Sturgis did ultimately think it was best for them not to be together because he thinks he could've been a liability in the future for their relationship. Dale also did a lot for the family such as letting Missy onto the baseball team and Georgie a job and also George Sr a job too at his sports equipment store. While he did try taking away those things when Connie broke up with him he did make amends for those bad actions later on. Also it's nice that Connie is with someone who isn't directly linked to Sheldon and has her own life instead. Gives the show more realism

He did only let Missy into the team cos he wanted to date Connie though. He wouldn’t even let her try out when George Sr asked but when he saw Connie and was attracted to her,then he let Missy try out. Later Missy proved herself. But yes I get your point. He is definitely unnecessarily disliked.
I don’t think so. Yes the very reason she’s in the team is cause he just wanted to date Connie. I would say he gave her the initial opportunity cause of that, but when Missy showed her talent Dale was actually impressed and recognized its value to his team.

I couldn't stand the way he treated John during that camping trip. It was so unnecessary. That being said, I guess Dale and Connie were kind of funny together.

The reality is a lot of guys, and people in general really would have acted like Dale in that situation. But then in Dale’s defense you see him evolve from being a typical asshole to a genuinely better person over the course of the show.

Ugh, I do realize I'm going against the grain here. I never knew so many people liked Dale. He's a caveman and every time I watch an episode that he's in, I am more puzzled as to how Connie could even stand to be around him, let alone date him! John was an absolute treasure of a man and the complete antithesis of Dale. I hate that she went from someone so amazing to someone so unevolved.

I liked Dale, except for the camping trip. He took things too far with Dr. Sturgis. But he was funny and kind when you got to know him. Just a little rough around the edges.
What can I say, I found Sturgis much more interesting.
We got more Dale than planned, because the pandemic took Wallace Shawn out of the rotation because he couldn’t do the airplane travel to film scenes.
He could do telephone calls with Sheldon (from NYC), but he couldn’t film with Annie Potts or anyone in the same room (in LA).
Also the actor that plays Dr. Sturgis (Wallace Shawn) isn’t someone I would champion having a job working with kids after the things he has said in defense of Woody Allen. He doesn’t get enough shit for his creepy opinions because people find him adorable.

Dale is a flawed character, like many senior citizens. He is at times grumpy, wise and funny. He is a better much for Connie, and behind all the grumpiness, treats the family pretty well.

Dale is male Connie, he gets hated for moral reasons but she isn't the most moral person herself, just remember out of all her children only Mary still talks to her.
They have similarities but I don’t think she’s a male Connie. They come from the same background or ‘type’ of people I’d say, and that’s why they naturally get along so well. It’s a lot more realistic as a pairing I guess, than the relationship she had with Sturgis.
As a fan of the show Coach, I like Dale a lot.

Oh please. Dale and Connie are the only reason I started watching the show. I like the actors and their characters where not cringy at all. Once I was lured by them I got into the rest but I resisted for years due to the cringe of the title character.
