I did not realize how screwed up this show is, it’s such a slow burn, it’s so messed up. Honestly I am gagging at my screen. I guess I didn’t read the overview well enough. It’s a good show don’t get me wrong I just didn’t expect what happens across the second season. I imagine season three gets worse.

  • Did you not see the... Opening goddamn scene?

I thought maybe it was a hallucination idk HAAB

Fair enough. Season 3 answers a lot of questions.

  • While that is completely understandable as this show does cover some really dark and heavy topics, on top of showing a tribe ritualistic cannibal teens, I can't help but wonder what you thought the show would be like after viewing the pilot episode. Not being mean, genuinely curious as to what you thought the plot line would look like. Especially after finishing all of season 1?

That being said, I do understand! Everyone's threshold for disturbing subject matter is different tbh. I can name a couple of my friends who are my age, (30's) who can't watch horror media of any kind, whether that be from fear or extreme anxiety. It's totally okay to not be able to handle this show, it is pretty intense at times.

I love how disturbing it is tbh

Same here!! I love how it was not afraid to be so messed up, and right out the gate too! Not to be all edgelord/ 🤓, but I just have a special place in my heart for disturbing media. 🖤

Very well said. I’m curious to your specific thoughts about this all being what has been suggested/presented as late teens psychosis in traumatic situations. I’ve seen several discussions accept this possibility. The writers would have a lot of explaining because there are way too many scenes they have went way out of bounds in. The Laura Lee plane is my point. Her beloved bear spontaneously combusts. She doesn’t even try to save herself. She just knows.

I thought maybe it was more witchy I did think it would have cannibalism but not to the point I have seen lol. I thought actually maybe there was other people in the woods with them and that misty had joined them. That’s what I thought the overview was about when it said “cannibalistic clans”. I assumed they weren’t alone in the woods and that’s why the symbols were there and that the people were cannibals. I just started season three so please no spoilers if they end up not being the only people there haha.

That makes a lot of sense actually, and I can see how you would have come to that conclusion based on what you've seen so far, as well as the overview. I was hoping for a more solid witchy storyline also, but I was pleasantly surprised by how it ended up instead.

If you do continue on to season three, just be aware than many people find it much more disturbing than season 2, so proceedwith caution. That is all I will say lol.

  • Yeeeaaaa you might want to find another show sweetheart..

  • You might gag a bit in season 3 😭 Stay off social media though cause your algorithm will definitely spoil you

  • Yeah.... if you feel like this now, it's only going to continue.

  • Yeah, if it's too hard for you to watch now you might want to find another show. Even if you knew what it was about beforehand, sometimes you don't realise that you can't handle something until you're watching it, and that's okay. I did the same thing at the end of season 1, the burning in particular was too much for me. So I took a break and then came back to it later, only watching 1 episode at a time and following up with watching somemthing nice or funny. You might want to try something like that, or give it some time and come back to it later, or maybe it just isn't the show for you.

If you want to be able to participate in the fandom without having to watch the show, the wiki has pretty detailed explanations of each episode. And you can also look at the official subreddit posts of each episode to get an idea of what everyone's talking about.

I agree so much with the following up with a funny piece of media after every episode. I watched Yellowjackets parallel with 2 broke girls and I didn't mind it at all.

So I’m not the kind of person who needs something light after something dark (can binge dark shit back to back for weeks- fall asleep watching at night lol)… but why does yellowjackets followed by 2 broke girls sound like the perfect combo?! I genuinely can’t figure out why, but I think it has to do with the dark humor of Kay Dennings character?

  • Eh season 3 is kinda the same but maybe crazier?and you find out more stuff and a big surprise happens that you don’t wanna miss and winter is Over. Season one is peak but well… you don’t get into the people eating yet. Show is definitely a mindfuck though. I have paramount + for a few more days so as soon as I finished 3 I restarted it again then I guess I’ll have to pay next season. I do recommend finishing it though.

Goddamn I hate Paramount plus. Literally all I watch is yellowjackets, school spirits, and football. But did you know that Kevin Costner is in some corny show where he's a cowboy or who gives a fuck? Also, check out octomom big brother and see who gets voted out of the womb!

  • What exactly were you expecting??

  • It's definitely going to get worse...in more ways than one, unfortunately.

  • I feel like, personally, even though you're absolutely correct that worse and worse things end up happening in s3, something about the tone of s2 made everything hit harder.

There's a time jump to get them out of winter before s3 starts, and the winter episodes are just a specific type of hopeless. It feels like everything is against them in such a more palpable way when there's not only a complete absence of food, but the environment itself has shown how dangerous it could be with Jackie.

The fucked up things in s2 feel either unavoidable or darkly necessary. I could see myself becoming someone I didn’t recognize in that situation. With S3, it is much easier to avoid projecting the dark shit onto myself in the same way.

S2 feels like survival. S3 feels tragic specifically because very few (if any) of the fucked up things that happen can be seen as necessary or justifiable.

  • I thought that the most disturbing parts of season 2 were far more disturbing than anything in season 3. Not even in the same ballpark tbh.

Season 3 may have been gorier, but not more disturbing.

  • I was so happy fxcking happy when they went ALL in on Jackie; honestly, my boyfriend was looking at me like Coach Ben was looking at them while I watched it. I was like OKAY SO WE’RE GOING FXCKING FERAL LETS DO THIS LADIES YAAAAAASSS (and he was like “this bitxh might eat me one day”)

And I think I’ve been chasing that high ever since. I have never seen anything as epic as that. S3 is crazy but nothing comes close to the last 3 and a half minutes of season 2, episode 2.

  • S3 is vastly superior to S2

I am now on season three episode 6 (I’m on Christmas break from uni) and I see what you mean hahaha.
