About halfway through this life and still have lots to do. How are you guys doing on your lists?

  • Bucket list - make the best top ramen possible - clean my garage - survive

I make ramen fried rice. Can't be beat.

    how?

    https://youtu.be/QT1dLo3g3PA?si=NJ383W9bDlMEP-Pe

Sort of like this. I use Tapatio brand ramen (original flavor) and add 1/2 a big carrot (shredded), 1/2 cup thawed frozen peas, 2/3 cup leftover brown rice, 2 cloves of garlic thinly sliced, some tofu, and 2 eggs.

You have survive as #3? Good for you! I feel like that can be #1 for me most days.

The list is not prioritized. They are all equally important.

Except for the garage. Fuck the garage.

Swap garage for crawl space and survive for don’t psychologically damage my children beyond repair.

The garage one hits a little too close to home.

Must be an attached garage, then

Dump about 90% of the water, add one slice American cheese, the seasoning packet, one or two runny (i like over easy) eggs and a few scallions. 🤌😘

Used to add sambal or Sriracha but my intestines aren't what they used to be...

    .....get up for work tomorrow.

    My name is... Mrs Iglesias?

  • I honestly can’t think of anything I want to do anymore.

I just want consistent sleep times and to be able to sleep through the night, like I'm a baby again

Hear that. I have 3 sleep disorders and one means I get to work from home because disability act.

I slept 12 hours last night. In a row. With no meds! I was so happy. But now my back hurts.

  • I have one item on my bucket list (or 50 depending on how you see it). See all 50 US states.

    Current count 32.

    You can do it!

I’m at 49 … hope to get 50 next year

I've got a huge patch in the middle of the US that I need to hit.

I was originally going to go to Vegas in February with a friend but she has a wedding that weekend (worked out for the better as finances are tight right now). That would have checked off Nevada.

My job sends me places so hopefully they send me to one of the 18.

I'm aiming to do 50 by 50. I'm 45 with 42 states down, so I should make it. My old rule was "50 by 50 without trying," like I'd only go if I had a reason to go, but I can't see what's taking me to Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi, so changing that rule now.

I'm tentatively planning a trip to New Orleans (my bucket list city-- I really want to try authentic Cajun food) and I told my friends that I will be renting a car and hitting up Alabama and Mississippi while in the vicinity.

Drive from NOLA to Mobile AL, spend a night in Mobile, its small but fun. (Birmingham is also surprisingly cool, but further out)

There is a NASA museum place in Mississippi that you can stop along the drive to check it off your list.

Yeah, I drove 30 minutes out of the way when I was in Shenandoah with my son so I could check off West Virginia. (That still counts with my old rule, in my opinion.)

I did a project in southwest VA over a decade ago. There was a part of that area that was half in Tennessee. (Said street was later on a Geico commercial). VA has strange liquor laws so there were no bars there. We went to bars on the TN side of said street so I count TN.

That definitely counts in my rule. As long as you did something in the state beyond a stopover or a bathroom visit.

  • I’m not far from Hot Springs. I should head down and check it out.

Go for it!. It looks like a good one to bring your SO because of the bath houses

When it warms up a little I think I will, and it’s just me. No SO.

Which are your favorites that don’t get a lot of love?

My top five in order are: * Rocky Mountain * Big Bend * Bryce Canyon * Death Valley * Mount Rainier

I would say Big Bend doesn't get a lot of love, but it's only because it's not heavily visited. It's in middle of nowhere Texas, butting up against the Rio Grande. I even walked across the Rio Grande to get lunch in Mexico (there's a border crossing on the US side where it's allowed). The drive to Big Bend was the first time I saw 80mph has a posted speed limit.

I love big bend! Glacier is probably my favorite if I was forced to choose. (I think I’ve been to 30 ish NP’s).

Nice! I've seen photos and heard amazing things about Glacier NP. It looks unreal!

Mine are zion, glacier, then Joshua tree

Zion is the only one I haven’t done!!!! It’s definitely on my list.

That’s so funny I was there many years ago and wanted to wade across to Mexico at an unofficial spot and was no joke like looking for snipers and was so nervous. I ended up chickening out like halfway through cuz I also wasn’t sure if I could safely handle the increasing water depth and force. The soles came off my Teva sandals in that water, like the glue disintegrated. Fond memory.

    Hahahaha

That's funny. Those weird, but funny memories are the ones I like the most when traveling. I was there in October and the water was only up to my knees. Walking across felt like the authentic way to do it!

    Pinnacles is awesome!

Mempho was a good festival in Memphis this past year

I'll keep an eye out for the 2026 lineup. I wasn't familiar with most of the bands for 2025.

  • Travel to a prime location to see the Northern Lights.
Observation station, etc. That's a huge goal for me.

    Your list inspired me.
I think I want to sit in a hot springs, alongside a capybara.
And just sit, relax, nod to the capybara. New goal : )

I’ve been watching a lot of travel videos and just saw one earlier today where a guy took the Santa Claus Express train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. He went to the Santa Claus Village, but didn’t see the Northern Lights. That would be an epic dream trip and I’d want to see both.

We are currently living in Finland and Santa Claus Village is super touristy and crazy expensive. I mean they’re all expensive but various levels of touristy. When my family and I went we did the train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and brought our car (the train drops you in the middle of nowhere, FYI so have transportation prearranged) and stayed in an AirBnB (way cheaper and eating out every day up there is $$$$). We visited Santa Claus Village but you have to pay for every single activity you do there. We enjoyed Santa Park more and had a private greeting with Santa at Santa’s Secret Forest.

Northern Lights are best viewed in September/October though it’s entirely possible to see them in December. You have to get lucky and be at the right place at the right time when the auroral activity is high but it does happen a fair amount in December…when there isn’t cloud cover due to it constantly snowing.

Do your research before you go, save up a shitload of money, and plan to book about a year in advance.

Part of the Northern lights one is to experience a 24 hour dark day in the far north. Also 24 hours of daylight.

  • Eat in a car with Michelin tires (check), visit Berlin, MD (check)

    Haha! Great twists!

  • Please don’t eat a tarantula. They are cool.

  • That's a good list that looks very personal, however the 14 year old in me thinks it's your goal to never die because you don't finish the list. Who wants to eat tarantula, lol?

That was the only part of the list that made me go "wtf what did tarantulas ever do to you?!" They're generally nice as far as spiders go and they don't make good eating.

I think they have tarantula suckers in truck stops? With the scorpion ones?

    Two birds with one stone.

I have questions about Vancouver. It feels very out of place.

  • The only thing I ever had on my bucket list was to see prince live and that dream died with him

subsequent truck bright melodic quickest gaze unique file plucky arrest

This post was mass deleted and anonymized with Redact

Prince and Tom Petty died before I saw them and I realized my cheapness (I rarely went to big acts' shows because of the high cost for decent seats) needed adjustment - they are/were two of my all-time favorites.

Happily I've been able to see some artists from the 80s/90s (the B-52s show was super fun) that I love since being willing to pay a few more bucks than I'd like.

I saw him a few times at Target Center growing up

  • Do base jump last. It is the sport with the highest fatality rate by far.

I did laugh at 'base jump' as though it's the kind of thing you can just do casually once.

Well, I suppose you could do it casually, once.

  • Okay, why do you wanna eat a tarantula? Aren’t they supposed to be nice pets?

If Home Alone taught me anything, yes.

  • Michilin restaurants are far more affordable then Michelin.

There is a Michelin-starred taco stand in Mexico City. You can cross off that item for a few Pesos (well, not including the cost of traveling to Mexico City).

    Me, chillin’

They usually have bargain lunch menus too

  • Eat a tarantula!? What!?

    Also, great handwriting!

I was also doing a double take on that one, but then I thought maybe Tarantula is some sort of fancy food I’m too old and non-hip to have ever heard about.

I’m an adventurous eater. I’ve eaten a bunch of odd foods. I don’t want to make them part of my diet, just curious to try.

If you're an adventurous eater you should add some more Asian countries to your travel list. China maybe.

I’m still bitter that my stepdad said he would trade in his business class ticket for two coach and take me to Singapore on a work trip if I saved up my own travel money, but by the time I did, he changed his mind saying he couldn’t handle 14 hrs in economy…

Singapore is awesome but it is a crazy long flight. I think mine from San Francisco was 16 hours. I upgraded to United Premium Plus (or whatever the purple seats are called). Singapore is crazy expensive though. I think I paid $16 for a Blue Moon. South Korea is amazing and much more affordable. Shorter flight too (assuming you're in North America).

  • Good for you. But the world's largest truck stop in Iowa is totally bogus and disappointing. The only reason its "large" is because its multiple buildings including a museum thing. Honestly a buckees is more impressive

Cross that out and add Safari. You're welcome

Right! I got through that whole list of wild stuff and then...visit a lame truck stop in iowa. Huh?

I'm flabbergasted that all the fancy and crazy stuff on that list ends with a shitty ass truck stop in shitty ass BFE Iowa

  • We are building a treehouse here, want to come help?

  • I was a zip line instructor for three years on a redwood course. There’s some beautiful courses I’d like to try but I know too much about safety inspections so probably won’t ride any more.

  • I accidentally ended up at the world’s largest truck stop on a cross country drive. Basically a poor man buccees with a built in buffet restaurant and next to a bowling alley iirc.

  • Nice penmanship!

  • I put away having hopes and dreams in my marriage. That ended. For a moment I started to dream again, but my kid's mom opted to leave and start a scorched earth custody battle. I try not to plan more than a week ahead. And even that has a poor success rate.

  • Got my scuba certification a couple years ago and have been diving off NC Coast, FL Keys and Curaçao. Thailand is where I want to go next, but I might go to Honduras next. It was a dream that I had for a while. I am glad I went for it.

  • I love that Berlin, VT is on your bucket list. There's a nice lake to walk around there!

  • Write a book, love someone who loves me, make a difference to a kid (I'm not a parent), travel more places internationally. Nothing crazy

  • I’m guessing “Ski Whistler” wasn’t recently. Damn it’s bad this season.

It was 20 years ago but it was amazing!

    …today is December 13

  • This is all well and good except for the tarantula bit. Is eating tarantulas really a thing?

  • My wife made me go heli skiing with the boys for my 30th. Since then my bucket list is just making her feel as awesome as she made me feel that week.

Needless to say the last decade+ has been amazing! Hell, all 27 years has been amazing!

  • "Stay at lizzie borden's" 😵‍💫

This is what I'm here for. OP, if you want someone to do that with, I'm so down.

  • Threw it away and laughed.

  • I suffer from perpetual wanderlust. I just wanted to travel and see new places. That was it. I've been to 16 countries on 4 continents. We're planning to move overseas permanently next year to my husband's country.

  • Add to the list:

    See a total solar eclipse

  • I did a Thailand 10 years ago and it was awesome. I’d recommend expanded a Thailand trip to include more of SE Asia. Honestly I’d consider retiring in SE Asia once the kids are grown.

  • -California Zephyr. The complete ride from Chicago to Emeryville. I’m actually looking into it now, but I have no clue about getting to the the starting point since I live nowhere near either city.

    -Toronto

-Grand Canyon. I was supposed to go back in September when I was in Vegas, but the tour company had issues with the bus and I had to cancel.

    -Christkindlmarkt in Nuremberg

-California. I don’t care where I just want to go to Cali.

-Manhattan as a tourist. I’ve been there countless times as a local, but since I was last there around 1998 and don’t live in the northeast anymore I want to see it in the eyes of a tourist.

-An ocean view room at any Miami Beach hotel.

    -a Mets game

-I need the find the BEST poutine in Canada. It doesn’t matter which province, probably Quebec, but it has to be just classic fries, brown gravy, and cheese curds.

-London then Portsmouth and hop on the Wightlink.

Toronto is on your bucket list? Aim higher, my friend.

    Signed, a Toronto local.

I’d like to see a Blue Jays game from the hotel attached to Rogers Centre and visit the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Ok fair enough, those are things I can see being important. I guess I just assumed you were coming for the ambience, which mostly consists of brake lights in front of you and overpriced hotels.

  • My bucket list is literally retire at a decent age.

  • So much wonderful underlying hilarious innuendo in this one image 🤣

My uncle lives there so I’ve got a place to stay if I ever make it!

  • I don’t have a bucket list. But I have been to Berlin, France and England. I’ll probably let a capybara next weekend.

  • I grew up near the “world’s largest truckstop”, Iowa 80… it’s fine. Not really even that big, after passing by some Buccee’s earlier this year. I assume many truck stops claim it though. The rest of this list makes all the sense. Good travels!

I saw this list and was like “holy shot I’ve done one of these!” Iowa-80 is the only one I’ve done.

  • I live in Alaska, come visit!

  • this looks like a chatGPT generated bucket list.

  • Mine is read your list. ✅

  • You can skip the Worlds Largest Truck Stop, and not feel so bad.

  • Wouldn't it be cool if there were a subreddit where people posted pictures of their bucket list?

Also I don't know what "skyline to sea hike" is but I'd be interested in doing it!

I’m loving reading every else’s wishes so that would be cool. The skyline hike is an overnight from Castle Rock (awesome climbing spot) at the top of the Santa Cruz, CA mountains down to Waddell Beach. I’ve explored parts of it but really want to see the whole thing. There’s some great waterfalls and swimming holes along the route.

    Overnight eh? I'm intrigued!

  • Put glacier national Park on your list, you can thank me later

Done. I kinda wanna see all the parks now

  • Saving the best for last, I see.

  • Where's the largest truck stop in the world?? I suspect Texas or another midwestern US state

Iowa. That would be a cool one.

Iowa. It's huge, almost like a mall or a small city. There's a food court, trucking museum, workout room, movie theater, barber, dentist, showers, gift shop with kids toys games & souvenirs, and tons of parking for both cars and semi-trucks. Open 24/7/365. We often stop there after crossing the Mississippi river when travelling west along I-80.

  • I don’t really have a list. Few years ago the wife and I decided to stop getting each other gifts and instead have experiences. Get each other maybe a present on Xmas and then NIN tickets in February.

Went to Norway this year for two weeks. Iceland a few years back. Like to travel and try awesome restaurants. Planning to hit up The Alchemist in Denmark in a year or two. Definitely going to try and to go to a World Cup game this year.

  • You were at whistler! You can hike from the top of Cypress down to the ocean in an easy day — I guess you weren’t able to get some time on the north shore? It’s an hour’s drive south, and directly on the way to the airport.

  • Maybe move base jumping to the end.

  • Mine is not nearly as impressive but I’ve been to that truckstop multiple times so that’s something I guess 😂

  • The truck stop is only worth it if you are driving through anyway. It's just a busy gas station and restaurant. I used to be a frequent visitor on my way out of town from work.

  • You got this!!!! Keep going and keep us updated! I’m inspired now as I’m sure a lot of us are. Thank you!

  • Salem is awesome, go in early October!

  • Am I weird because I don’t have a bucket list? I think it’s because my life is already pretty adventurous (with long bouts of boredom sprinkled in). I’ve done a bunch of things on yours so maybe I can just be happy with that. 😂

  • You want to eat a tarantula?!

  • I got one item on my list: chillin'. I put a check by it everyday. 😌 ✅️

  • We’re planning on Zion this spring!

  • My wife's dream vacation is to sit on a beach for a week. Mine is... not. I hadn't even heard of the Dempster Highway until Thanksgiving, but after watching a couple of videos on YouTube, I told her I'd be towing my 1948 Willys Jeep behind my truck from Kansas to Dawson City, YT and driving the Dempster in the Jeep in August if she wanted to go along. She declined, so I guess I'll be solo. 50 hour drive one way just to get to the start. Can't wait. I'll be making the same offer for doing some of the Backcountry Discovery Routes in the Jeep in the future. I'm not going to sit on a beach for week doing nothing ever again. Ohh, and I'll be starting on my Light Sport Pilot Certificate in the spring.

    Sorry for the rant.

  • Old school scuba guy here that used to dive commercially. With the switch to dive computers, getting certified and most of the technical understanding that goes with it is largely unnecessary. Learn to use a BCD and you’ll be fine to do most tourist dives.

Thanks for the tip! I want to start in Monterey, CA, though that might not be the best for a newb. I’ve snorkeled in Hawaii, so maybe I’ll learn there if I ever get back.

Regarding the racecar goal, there should be cool on-track experiences available nearby at Laguna Seca. That track is on my bucket list.

  • Also Yosemite is TIGHT! Enjoy and hug lots of soft trees, redwoods are the coolest. Spring is best because the waterfalls are there from the melted snow.

  • I have successfully completed two of my bucket list items: ride in a ski lift tram andhike up a mountain. I will probably never get to pee in a live volcano.

  • Big one for me is volunteer for an archeological dig before I’m too old/complainy

  • Mine is to hit all the continents and as many counties before I leave this earth. Maybe skydive

  • As someone who grew up in Vancouver, where skiing whistler was just a thing we did on winter weekends while we were young, seeing those things on a "bucket list" is wild

  • Visit all 50 states - 4 left to go

Visit all countries that make up my heritage - 1 left to go, out of 7

Visit all continents - 1 left to go

Visit the modern wonders of the world - have 2 left

  • I recently rediscovered the bucket list I'd done in my 20s and was happy to discover I could check a few items. As of this week, I managed to cross of item 34 out of 61 (see Radiohead live). Honestly, many of the items are absolutely irrelevant to me now (try Lobster? Dance a sevillana? wth), only a couple still matter (run a marathon, cycle a certain route here in Germany). Still working on those

  • If you visit St. Petersburg, Florida, you can pet a capybara. There’s a place called Capybara Cafe. I haven’t been but next time I’m down there I plan to check it out.

  • I’m partway through mine, though I add faster than I check off. Most of mine are travel related though. Current favorite completed was “throw a dart at a map and go where it lands.” Tiny little town of Elk River, Idaho.

  • Just ticked off one item off my bucket list, see the silverback gorillas.

But as I tick off things, I add more to it

  • add at least one star to the michelin item

  • Never really left the States but my only bucket list items are drinking a pint of Guinness at the brewery and checking out the Cavern Club in Liverpool. There's gotta be an easy-ish ferry between the 2.

  • You forgot to put Australia on your list!!

    Source: I am Australian

I used to want to visit Australia.

Then I took a trip to Hawaii with my family and the flights there/back were the 7th circle of hell for me, someone who can't sleep on planes.

It was then that I realized that long-haul flights are a miserable enough experience for me that I will never do again. If supersonic flights ever went mainstream, maybe.

If we want to go anywhere else in the world we have to suffer through the flights as well.

I’m not able to sleep on planes but can do for a short while if aided by medication (maybe something to look into with your doctor).

If I want to visit my sister who lives in Denmark I’m looking at two long haul flights that take 24hrs to get me there. You get used to flying cattle class after doing it a few times (always get the aisle seat).

I took my first flight at 6 weeks old. I did not sleep then. I'd need pet euthanasia level drugs to sleep on a plane. I won't even do east coast-west coast flights without a layover as I get extremely restless if sitting for long periods of time (layover means I can run up my step count).

My passport expired last millennium. I've made peace with the fact that I'll never go abroad. The journey there/back would throw a wet blanket on the entire trip.

  • some of these will be more difficult than others

  • I’ve done everything on this list except coastal starlight train, eating a tarantula, and writing a memoir.

Hang gliding is most easily done at Jockey’s Ridge in Kitty Hawk NC, BASE jumping isn’t worth it, and Samoa has some serious racialized issues with mainlanders.

  • I’ve eaten a capybara and pet a tarantula, does that count?

  • I've knocked a few off the ol bucket list:

    GTFO of Texas.

Open for my favorite band. (They are from Australia and we were from Texas, unlikely but it happened)

    Attend a World Series Game.

    Threesome

    Vieques

    Long way to go though...

  • Checked off David Gilmour concert last year. 🔥🤘

  • …eat tarantula?!?

  • why is this list giving midlife crisis

  • I haven't really made one, I should!

  • Eating out of Michelin star would be all right and that would be it

  • Iowa 80? Or wall drug? I can’t remember which truck stop is bigger. I went to college in Iowa and loved stopping at Iowa 80 on every drive back and forth

  • You need to add Arches, Sequoia National Forest, and Redwood National Forest

  • I don't have a bucket list, but last time I went to harbor freight I got a free bucket, so there's that.

  • I started to get my pilots licence. I got 5 hours and thein decided it was too expensive as a hobby.

Me too! Though it’s been so long I’d have to start over. There’s a tiny airport near me that has pretty reasonable rentals but the cost to get to that point is prohibitive…

I think it was just $120 an hour when I did it. Who knows what it would be now.

  • Why eat a tarantula? 🕷️

  • You actually wrote down your bucket list. Is this a common thing to do?

In the last 18 months my brother died far too young, I broke my leg, was attacked by a dog and then had to have my foot reconstructed, and my ten year relationship imploded, so I filled a notebook with my hopes and dreams. I’ve got more life to live!

  • Spelunking in Nutty Putty Cave

It looks amazing but I’m not sure how I feel about such narrow passages and Google says it’s closed since someone died…

That was the joke. It being on the bucket list.

You got me to Google it!

  • I really don’t have a bucket list. Interesting that people really have thought this out.

  • Wat a tarantula?!? Im deathly afraid of spiders and cant even see a pic of them. Whyyy????

  • Eat tarantula?????????????

  • PPL alone will cost you 100 grand. Personal experience.

  • You haven’t even put a pokey bum wank on there. Also having been to Samoa I would probably take it off your list and put somewhere nicer on.

  • Still these bougie things only to cap it off with the largest truck stop.

  • My bucket list these days is just to enjoy what I have and enjoy what comes if it ever does--and if it doesn't, that's fine. I've spent all my life chasing goals and have finally achieved enough of them to realize none of it ever satisfies anyway.

  • What did the poor tarantula do to you?

  • You can take Iowa 80 off your list, it's not that exciting.

  • No bucket list here, I think it’s a silly exercise but you do you.

  • I'm really happy with mine.

    Personal bucketlist:

    - Live in a cool, historical looking house (done)

    - Get solar panels for house (done)

    - Build giant tower (need to do)

    - Hot Tub (need to do)

    - Get published (done)

    - Get a patent - I have something I'm trying to progress.

    - Get a magnolia tree(done)

    - Learn to speak spanish (no beuno)

    - Get a cool turtle tank with turtle

    - Build a pizza oven

    - Build a treehouse

    Travel stuff:

    - All 50 states (49/50)

    - All provinces /terotories of Canada

    - Drive to Alaska

    - Drive to Argentina

    - Visit Komodo Island

    - Do a safari

    - Take all long hall international flights out of Chicago (I'm doing very well on this one)

    - See a penguin (done)

    - See a Polar Bear

    - Visit all the location in Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (need to hit Algeria and the lost city!)

  • Sorry to hear you went to Vancouver. Hope you didn't step on any needles.

    • A Canadian that goes to Vancouver several times a year.
  • What’s a Ski Whistler? Is that like my cousin the Shouting Snowboarder?
