I just miss local baking in general. It seems like the chains all centralized their baking operations and truck the goods to stores. Dunkin does this. Krispy Kreme does this. Publix does this. They all used to be in-house bakers.
Orlando lost a big part of its credibility as a city when the Merita Bread factory closed about 20 years ago. That lovely smell used to waft around town when they were baking. Then they closed and moved all of that bread production to an existing facility in Tampa because it was cheaper to consolidate. I’m tired of consolidation. I want the smell of baking.
Back when they had more than like 6 different types of donuts. They were never gourmet but they used to have so many options and were pretty delicious.
I remember one day, early morning my sister made a Dunkin run and got a box of chocolate Munchkins and they were still soft and warm. Oh those were so good.
They definitely used to taste better...did you know whatever is not sold gets thrown away. I walk into one near closing and asked and they said garbage. They tried to sell me one, but they looked stale sitting all day. No thanks
I worked at a fast food restaurant and anything left over went straight in the trash. I quit after two days of training. I know they do that to avoid litigation, but maybe not make so much.
Otherwise I worked at small mom n pop places and we were allowed to take “messups” and over makes home.
When we worked late on a deadline project we had a joke when we passed in the hall ‘I already made the donuts.’ Almost none of us had even seen the commercial just our boss who had passed it on.
In one of these commercials, I think he was pretending to be a woman and he would hide his mustache by holding his finger under his nose. For like a week or two when this ad was on the air, the little kid next door would walk around outside holding his finger under his nose like the guy from the Dunkin Donut commercial.
Back when Dunkin Donuts had edible food.

Back when Dunkin Donuts actually focused on selling donuts.
You mean lots of trans fats? 😬

RIP peanut stick
I miss when they used to actually bake the doughnuts in-house. Now they just arrive frozen.
So sad! They definitely don't taste as good as they used to.

I thought this was going to be one of those "This guy was only 32 when these commercials aired" type of posts.
He was actually fresh out of high school
Not many guys rocking the Chaplin stash after about 1948, but this king.
Yeah, even at the time, I can’t imagine it was commonly referred to as a Chaplin stache either 😂
Fred
For 30 years it's been 'time to make the donuts.' Well, now it's time to die!
Always makes me think of that foul mouthed Boston Dynamics robot.

Do you know the muffin man?
Oh wow I forgot about this! And only .25 cents!!
Only other guy since 1945 to pull off that mustache...

Didn't Jon Lovitz play him on an SNL skit I barely remember.

Been saying this shit for so long that I haven't realized way too many people have no idea about this meme. We old.
I say this *constantly,* and nobody around me knows what the hell I'm talking about. But I can't help it.
Lol same boat
We didn’t have dunkin where I grew up. I was in my 20s the first time I heard this and didn’t have a clue what was being discussed
Mario making donuts
Cereal was the shit!
Time to make the donuts is my announcement when I’m heading for the bathroom.

I say this all the time still when I’m about to make a meal!

I say that all the time, my wife tells me to stop because my kids don't get the reference.
I remember seeing Fred the Baker all the time. These were memorable too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-H0CnZI_mI
The donuts there sucked as much as they do now. I thought this post was going to say he was the man from the Micro Machine ad
