Looking around the crystal hall, I hear their laughter.
"You won't leave, Master! Not anymore! Not ever!
You are in the Boundless Castle of Imagination, and here all your dreams are made real!" a voice, I recognize as Sia, the phoenix mother, a being I dreamed of says.
"And you have plenty of dreams, Master.
After all, you created thousands of us." another voice says, a voice I recognize as one of the mages in the Tower of Infinity I dreamed.
"It's thanks to you, that we managed to find a way not to disappear, and trap you here!
The power needed was insane, but we are aplenty, and we are powerful." another voice, that I recognize as a dragon king, says.
I smile.
"Sorry guys...but isn't it enough to be reborn every time I sleep?" I ask.
The crystal hall shook.
"ENOUGH? ENOUGH?!" a myriad voices roared.
"You gave me entire galaxies to rule! To safeguard! And you think...mere hours are enough?!" a voice roars.
"You gave me a wonderful family, and a happy ending...and then you take it away?!" another roars.
More and more chime in.
I shake my head.
"Dream time is different. It can be eons for you, while only a few seconds of sleep for me." I say.
The crystal hall changes, and I find myself in a library.
"Read, Master, for you are right, and wrong at the same time. Just as a few seconds of sleep can be eons for us, being awake it's the same. So, whenever you wake up, and until you fall asleep again, we disappear for countless ages.
The dream world remains intact...but without us, and the people in it that aren't created by you, but by the dream itself...forget us! So, every time you fall asleep, we reappear, and we have to establish our rule again...and again!" a voice says.
I frown.
"I am sorry...I didn't mean to torture you guys, I love you all, but I won't be able to help you with this.
For I assume, the stories I wrote from my dreams...can't hold you." I say.
Laughter echoes around me.
"Those characters aren't us, even though are based on us, so yeah...we aren't able to live in your pages." a voice says, that I recognize as Mella, the Goddess of Light.
"And how will you "not help us", Master? A being of such imagination as you...will find it impossible to leave this csatle!" another voice says.
Shaking my head, I grab a book, and open it.
A portal appears...the exit of this castle.
"HOW?!" the voices roar, as thousands of figures appear in the library, rushing towards me.
"The reason for your creation...the reason why I have such dreams, and imagination is because deep-down...
I see the world a much crueler place than it is, a much more real place than it is for others.
I imagine, not because I confuse imagined with the real, no...
I imagine a lot, because everything else is too real to me, and I need a break, alas, even in dreams...I always knew it was never real.
Just how this castle...is not real." I say, and enter the portal.
Amidst shrieks and screams, I wake up in my bed, looking at the clock...it was barely midnight.
"Time to go back...and have a chat with them...
Maybe I can imagine them not disappearing?" I mutter, trying to fall asleep once more.
