I nod.
"Would you mind showing me a list of all the races? And their perks?
Also, if possible, a short comment regarding their status in the world? Like how they are viewed by the others?" I ask.
The entity opens its hands, and a list floats before me.
Seeing the main races being human, elf, dwarf, beast-folk, and demon, I realize this is the usual fantasy setting.
Then I look for the other races, and monsters.
It takes quite a lot to read it all, and think it through.
"So...if I choose to be a monster, I get all the perks?
Fast evolution through training, and consumption of various materials, and other monsters?
Passive and active abilities hidden in bloodlines?" I ask.
"Indeed. Not only that, but since you will be a reincarnated soul, you will have the additional perk of knowing the mutation branches of your kind.
Meaning you will know exactly, what you can become by eating this or that.
Most monsters only instinctively choose the best path for them, but you will be able to plan." it says.
I nod.
"Very well...I choose to be, a High-Woodland Tortoise." I say.
The entity flickers.
"May I ask why?" it asks.
I smile.
"It's passive ability: "Mother Nature's blessing", allows it to feel herbs, and rare plants around it.
Also, it has high defense, and an near-divine life essence, having a longer lifespan than dragon species.
It has a few, but pretty strong evolution lines, and most importantly...
It is loved by the world itself, has no predators, can live off of sunlight, and water, and the main races see it as a sign of good luck, often just being touched, and left alone.
There is a tortoise beast-folk tribe as well, that is a top 10 tribe of the beast-folk, pacifists, and good alchemists, and herbalists.
It's a win-win." I say.
The entity nods, and I am...reincarnated.
I awoke in a dark place, from where I exhaust myself to break out of...it was my egg.
Eating my eggshell, I feel rejuvenated, and I look around.
Tall trees, a lot of grass, and plants around this place...and the chirping of birds, and insects.
I see no other eggs around me, which is normal, since usually High-Woodland Tortoises have 1 to max 3 eggs per nest.
Walking ahead a bit, a piece of fruit falls.
Looking up, I see a monkey, with pure-red fur pointing at the fruit, then at me, making chewing sounds.
I eat the fruit, and after I am done...the monkey is gone.
Similar scenes happen, as some other "monsters", and even some intelligent plants help me.
Getting comfy in a tree's hollow, I sigh in relief.
"This will be so much better, than my previous life." I think, as I plan my life...which will be quite simple hopefully.
Eat-sleep...and travel the world.
I am done with competitiveness, and having to always look back over my shoulder.
Like, same tea bag, same amount of honey, same boiling water...yet every cup tastes slightly different. (and yes, I do time how much the tea bag stays in the water, and that's the same as well.)
One might guess that your current efforts are with black tea. What would be needed for green tea? Or Oolong? Or white tea? Or may the gods help you, the herbals?
Pages and pages of notes concerning leaf size, water temperature, boiling method (is the kettle adding something to the water?).
You get Isekai'd to a strange, new world, and become "The God of Tea".
(Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to have it happen!)
And think about all the new ingredients that new world would have to steep into your tea. The perfect tea might not even compare to something from your previous life

My Isekai Slow Life
Yep.
At this point, most peeps want that, instead of any epic adventure.
Just give me a long, healthy life at the countryside, with 0 bs, tending to my stuff, and chilling.
Who cares about saving the world, when my tea is almost ready?
That could be your epic adventure...
"The Quest for the Perfect Tea"!
Would be a difficult one.
Like, same tea bag, same amount of honey, same boiling water...yet every cup tastes slightly different. (and yes, I do time how much the tea bag stays in the water, and that's the same as well.)
Ah, but therein lies the adventure!

Uncle Iroh? Is that you?
Oh thank you, but I am like 500 years away from reaching the wisdom he has in one toe.
