The song is about ... well, friendship, of course. In the verses different kinds of misfortune happen to the protagonist. Children run away with his money, his chest is hurting but he can't see a doctor as they are on strike. Then he wants to call his lover, who has send him a letter, but somebody stole his phone number. Not all of this makes perfect sense to me, but probably it isn't supposed to. The chorus praises the value of friendship. The message is that true friends will stick together in times of hardship.
