I find it really frustrating that going to a nations tech tree doesn't show ALL ships, even if they're obtained outside of the standard tech tree.

It used to be any Doubloon/Gold purchased ships would show up floating off to the side, I feel strongly the tech tree UI needs to be updated to show all Coal/Steel/Research Points acquired ships within each tech trees.

Is there a reason the developers don't do that any more?

I used to use the tech tree as a means to search for ships to find out about said ship. It was very helpful after a game to research the ships I was fighting against. Now it feels much harder to discover what opponents/enemy ships are.

  • Yep it's bullshit, made a similar post a while ago

  • I agree, that would be nice. But there are mods that do this and they're very easy to install. You can even see unreleased testing ships as well.

    But there are mods [...]

WG has gotten too complacent depending on mod developers instead of improving their own platform to ensure that the baseline experience is quality. WG also does not treat mod developers too well and they shouldn't be depended on long-term. Mod developer interest naturally dies over time and the mods will bit rot.

It's great the mod exists. It shouldn't need to exist.

It's the "Bethesdafication" of gaming... "Modders will fix it anyway!" attitude.

Mount and Blade Bannerlord is literally the final boss of "let the modders finish it". Just like its predecessor, like all the systems in that game are underdeveloped and very boiler plate. With mods being required to give the game actual diplomatic flavor and RPG elements.

Yeah Aslain's mod. Took me some fiddling to get the settings right but it honestly has so many good features.

Omg this game lets us install mods? Bro I am going to RUIN my client istg. I can't be trusted around mods in any game ever.

What happens after a client update, if a mod that is already installed doesn't work with the new client? Would the client work without that mod, or would the game stop working?

Right after the update you double-click the "Aslain's WoWs Modpack Installer" to see if there's update ready.
If so, you download it, install it (important - you DO NOT need to re-select the mods again), click "next, next, install", and go into the game. Most (if not all, depending on how much the game patch changes) will work.
If there isn't update to the mod pack ready yet, just wait a bit, they are up quite fast. And you can just play in the mean time, but the game will default into "vanilla", so no mods for that period.

If you run the client updater every day before you log into WOWs, you should be up to date.

Also, use Aslain's instead of Modstattion because Modstation isn't nearly as good, doesn't have the good selection of mods that Aslain's does and isn't kept up to date as fast as Aslain's is.

The client itself works fine but...

Every single update without fail, you will load into the game, play a match, and curse yourself for forgetting to update Aslains. Once you enjoy the improved QoL you can't go back. The base UI is so bad and lacks a lot of info that should be available in the WoWs options as base.

I really only want a couple of mods - that targeted ship angle indicator, and the heal indicator.

    I highly recommend adding:
Consumables Monitor (shows allies consumables and cooldowns)
Detection Monitor (shows when allies are spotted)
Smoke Marker (shows smokes on minimap)
Submarine pingers on Minimap (does what it says)
Battle Expert (This is the ship angles you're looking for)
Score timer (shows how long until each team wins on points)
TTaro minimap (So you can enable torpedoes on minimap)

There are a bunch of other things you can add but the above are all things that should be in the base game and WG can't be bothered with.

    Oh my, quite a list!

Does TTaro minimap show torps that are on the other side of the map too? That would be interesting indeed, I never thought it was possible.

It only shows things that your client can already see. So it will show you your own torps at any distance, allied torps that are in draw range, and enemy torps if they were spotted and in draw range. Basically if you can't spin the camera around and see them that way the mod won't show them either.

The same applies for any mods that show allied/enemy HP. They only show the HP value they had the last time you saw them. It won't update for any healing or damage taken while they are undetected.

Yes, obviously the client can't show what it doesn't know about. It's just I never thought it knows about spotted enemy torpedoes on the other side of the map.

*Sanctioned mods. They're anything from esthetics to OP information like 'traffic light mod', but it's not like you can make your boat fly.

What next? You're gonna tell me the sky is blue? Don't be ridiculous! Of COURSE I expect a mod to make my boat fly

Is that on modstation and whats it called?

  • A lot of people would get angry/depressed if they knew how many ships weren't obtainable except through real money. And how much money they cost.

I honestly couldn't care less tbh.

The "obtainable" ships are good enough for me.

I think they'd get over it.

Personally I'd rather have a quick way to look up opponents ships than just not being able to research what I'm fighting against.

  • I think they should cut all the premiums out of the tech tree now that there aren't any free xp ones anymore and flesh out the captain's logbook to show all this information, including letting you preview stats and equipment for ships you don't have.

  • There are like a dozen mods that do this. There are also websites like shiptool.st that show ships even the extended tech tree mods don't.

Oh, excellent! I'll look into that. But, to me, I shouldn't need a mod to have this, it should be default.

I agree with you and went through the same growing pain when I started. At least now you can check loadouts in game in your tab screen though.

Why do i keep reading its name as "sh*tpool"?! :D

  • Simple solution would be using a similar ingame comparison tool like World of Tanks has.

Not only because it can be used to compare ship stats but you can use it to search for otherwise hidden ships like premiums (even some unreleased ones) and use that tool to inspect them.

  • Should be, also the imperial metric mod, room in the UI for both.

  • I do agree that it would be nice to see all the ships that exist in the game (even the ones only obtainable via super container like Smaland or Smolensk) should be visible in some way, so people can check their stats, armor, etc. Not necessarily the tech tree in my opinion.

When there are unknown ships in the battle, it would be nice to be able to check them out after the battle. External sites show the stats in all details, but they usually don't have a view of the armor layout.

  • The tech tree is labyrinthine for some nations as it is. Add several hundred more entries for every premium/special ship and it becomes nigh unintelligible for newer players to navigate.

There's an argument to be made for having all that information in the game somewhere, but that's not the place for it.

A dozen mods manage it just fine.

  • there is an aslains mod for this

    Which one?

They’re under the port interface section.

All ships in vertical tech-tree by ollin

Another all ships in tech-tree mod

Another all ships has a thread you can check to see if it’s up to date.

If you’re asking about which mod, just google aslain wows, it’s a whole mod pack where you can take as little or as much to customize.

i did it hella years ago. I have no idea, sorry.

  • I don’t see how that would be useful. I have over 700 ships. Looking at 700 ships on the “Tech Tree” view would be OVERWHELMING. Whereas on the Port filter, I find easily what I need.

You are totally missing the point. It's not about what ships a person owns, it's about researching and learning about ships you don't own.

You're an outlier and not the target audience for this.

Seems strange, TBH. If I want to see what Steel ships are available, I go to Steel Ships…same for Coal, RB, etc. Having them in 2 places, would be redundant. But dream away…

  • there are mods for that

  • there's a mod for this

  • Are you just going to spam this sub endlessly with your rants?

Should I take that as a invitation? 😜😉

  • the problem is wg couldnt do airstrike showcase for all ships. as soon as they learn how to do airstrike with tech tree all ships, they will do it.
