I want to start regularly doing my nails at home this year, and I've heard lots of people recommend LED gel nails but I see on the news that there are health risks to LED gel nails..
Can anyone recommend what nail kits to start with and if LED gel nails are really that risky?
I use the gel strips from Blitsebee and they are amazing. No nails have broken, no damage when you take them off. I’ve never go back to a nail salon tbh.
I use the gel ones. They are pre cured so I put them under a light for 1 minute. They have ones as well that don’t require you to set with a light
It only messes up your nails if it’s removed badly/incorrectly.
I’d be wary of contact dermatitis too i believe it happens if the gel touches the skin / not cured properly ( not a doctor just thinking of videos I have seen on this )
I’d be interested to hear others thoughts on this. I have terrible nails. Always have. They always break at the sides and never grow very long. I got the “14 day manicure” kit about 2 years ago. I absolutely loved it the first couple of times I used it. But my nails went to absolute sh!t after using it for a while so ended up binning it. My nails were so thin and when I was using the UV light on them it actually hurt. I also developed blisters all around my nails after the 5th or 6th time I used it. I use the rimmel gel nail polish now. It’s a two step method. It works well for me and can get a week out of it. I also use rimmel nail nurse as a base coat.
This is an important comment.
Chemicals can affect people differently (think patch tests for hair dye), so it may not work for you.
Ive been doing mine regularly for about 3 years (with a week or two off here and there, depending on how depressed I am😅) and have never had a problem. But lots of people do, whether because of their nail thickness or skin sensitivity or whatever.
Caution first! Give your nails some time off in the beginning as well.
I got a beetles kit from Amazon. I've been doing mine regularly about 3 years. It's so fun!
Most of my stuff is from Shein (I know, I know). For gel colours, I have a white and a black and a few special glittery ones. But I find that a set of cheap chalk pastels, some mica powders, and loose glitter do a great job, and much easier to use.
Have fun!
