I know similar posts have been made before but I really am struggling to find friends in Dublin. I’m from Dublin and 30. I have a few friends but I sometimes feel we don’t have the same interests anymore. I feel it’s so much harder to make friends as an adult.
Has anyone found a good way of making friends? Has anyone had success with hobbies or anything!
Please exercise caution when arranging meet-ups online. According to subreddit rules, we do not endorse or encourage this due to safety concerns. Further information can be found here
Would you be interesting in doing a particular hobby to make friends or a sport? What have you tried? I’m in a similar boat and have found that connecting over a shared experience generally gives you something to talk about etc
I’m in the process of starting a WhatsApp group for women who want to try a new activity every 2-4 weeks and meet new people, so shoot me a dm if you are interested and want to be added!
Edited to say I didn’t realise my DMs were off, I’ve turned them on now so anyone who wants to be added let me know.
Great idea! I will be interested! EDIT: Sorry I should have asked first. Is it okay if I DM you? I would love to be added to the group.
+1
Omg can I be added please !!!!
Would love to be added too
No, but please let me know if you do 😅 I'm also in my 30s and find it so hard to find long lasting friendships once you're an adult.
It’s so hard! I’ve made like work friends but find it hard to progress friendships beyond just friends in work. I don’t have any hobbies that involve meeting new people. I’m honestly stuck. My boyfriend has a large group of friends that are always doing stuff. It’s hard not to feel lonely!
Same! I'm near Dundrum if you wanna meet up for a coffee.
I am in the same boat. Living near Dundrum too and would love to catch up! :)
Great! DM me and I'll create a Dundrum WhatsApp group. :)
I’m close enough to that area!
Same! I'm around from there as well! Count me in
Great! DM me and I'll create a Dundrum WhatsApp group. :)
Hey Witchyybitchh! We have a whatsapp group called TheCraic Crew for women in Ireland if you would like to join? I think a lot of us around the same age group find it a bit of a struggle to connect with friends as we get older (I know I do!) Our groups a mishmash of groups for each county - for meetups, crafting, healt h fitness and (my favourite) Scream Into the Void - for all your ranting needs. 😆
I'll send you the link and then if you feel up to it, pop in and say hi!
Hi!
Would it be okay for the link to be sent over to me as well? Thanks x
Yes, of course. 🥰
Could I get in on this too please?
Hi, would also be interested in a link as well please x
Heey, could I also get the link? 🙏
I'd love the opportunity to join this Whatsapp group please!
Yes please I would love to!
Hi can I please join !!!
Would you mind sending me the link too please? :)
I would also love a link please
Could you please send me a link if the offer is still open!
Me too please 🥲
Me too please!
I’m the same & I’ve had ideas to start something before but I don’t know how it would work. I mean, people make friends based on interest, right? And age. Like I’m 28, live in Dublin, and would love a group of Girl friends to go to bars with & go to the cinema & go on city breaks & just go shopping & stuff. Makes me sad ;( does anyone have any ideas ? Like what’s everyone interested in…. Let’s make friends lol
One of the girls on this post put a link in for WhatsApp group she just created a few of us are in it!
Same. I'm not originally from Dublin, but it has been extremely hard to find friends here. I've had good success with networking, not with making friends. 😭🥲
Yeah I’ve made like work friends but never goes beyond work place friendliness. I’m not sure what more to do!
Girl at least you got lucky with work. I'm yet to work in a place where people don't talk just about their kids, mortgage and marriage troubles. 🥲 Think middle aged people with a heavy emphasis on family, that has been my workplace.
Oh god you poor thing! My last job everyone was around my age so I’ve made some work friends I occasionally meet for a coffee and keep in contact with via text!
I’m in Dalkey! Love making new friends. Craic club sounds fun.
If you have a local FB group you could put up a post asking if anyone wants to go for a walk or coffee. I did this in Meath and ended up with a group of 10 or so meeting weekly for a stroll & coffee after. I moved recently so I put one up in a Mullingar FB group yesterday, about 40 people have said they're interested, local coffee shops are getting involved and we've set a date & time with a few people definitely coming. Cheap & low pressure!
Ok, i think I'll create a WhatsApp group - I'll message everyone who responsed to this post with the group's details.

Bumble BFF is ok for an app to try. I'm 27 feel free to message me either 😊
Where are you based & what do you like to do for fun xxx I’m 28 based in Dublin
I tried joining to groups with hobbies eg hiking, board game etc. But noticed these aren't real friendships. If I disappear one day noone will contact me :/
Check the offline club dublin - they are about to launch in February!
The idea is that they organise events during which phones are in "jail". You get quality time with people and it's easier to meet new ones. They make book meetings, general hangouts, workshops, walks, hikes, retreats, and game nights (board and card. Because... offline)
