Grinding with an angle grinder produced similar sparks and it is really hard to light something with them and in this case there are continuous and concentrated.
Not all that dangerous. Wear eye protection and you are good to go.

Make a wire basket and attach a rope. Fill with fine steel wool. Cover in kerosene. Light. Spin fast. 10x better effect.
Dont even need the kerosene. Hit the wool with a blowtorch, the forced air will keep the glow going til it showers sparks
