Hoping for any help identifying anything about either of these. Here is what I know:

My grandfather collected prints when he was in his 50s/60s, which would have been the 1980s/1990s. When he passed away in 2003, I was only a toddler, but the collection was left to me. It was in physical possession of my aunt, who threw most of them away (trust me, I am more upset about this than anyone) without my mother's knowledge. My mother is the youngest so doesn't remember very much of this hobby of his other than that it was something he went to shows/conventions(?) to do.

So my aunt saved two, damaged, but I have them. I don't know what the signature says, or what the numbers next to it mean. It looks to me like both signatures are the same, but not sure if they're just related by print company rather than artist.

Facts I know would be:

  • They were definitely produced and bought before 2003, but more likely in the 80s or 90s
  • They could possibly have been expensive then? I do not care about value then or now, it's just very sentimental to me and I'd like to know more. But I know my grandmother thought the hobby was "costly", but I don't really know either what these things ever cost or what their financials were like so costly could just mean non-essential. But it could potentially have been something which would have been expensive then
  • They were part of a collection in some way. I do not know if he collected by artist or thematically (I think they look similar in style), but whatever pieces are gone would have been related to these in some way
  • He was Hungarian, and most of his other artistic interests (music, movies, etc) were always Eastern European, so possibly likely to have been an artist from that region
  • I really don't know anything about this space but just including in case it's helpful - he cared about how they were stored. When I received them, they were rolled up with one white cardboardish tube wrapped around the outside and one dark tube rolled up on the inside

I feel like this is very little information to have, but no one in my family has any answers besides that he enjoyed the activity. If there's anything I could answer that might help, please let me know and I can ask my mother. She doesn't remember more off the top of her head, but if there's a specific question she may answer.

Also happy to answer any questions about the story because I find it very annoying how it all happened but obviously here for the ID mostly. Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

EDIT: Also, beyond just identifying it, I would really love to know a little if anyone has any idea of what the frog one is supposed to be about. I have an idea and knowing if I'm right is a large part of why I can

  • Solved! I've reverse searched before with no luck, maybe my angle or something was bad or just wasn't the universe's right time for me to know. Thanks for everyone who may have looked and still happy to hear anything about what The Dictator is meant to be if anyone knows!

  • Mark this as solved. The Google Lens results are spot on. Both prints are by the same artist, Philippe Henri Noyer.

Doing now! I swear I've tried reverse search before with no luck, I don't know if it was a lighting issue or what but so happy to know.

  • Thanks for your post, /u/SandorSNL!

We kindly ask you to make sure your pictures are right ways up, and that you've added a picture of the back of the painting. It might be full of clues that are invisible to everyone except art historians...

    Any foreign languages? Try r/translator.

If your painting is signed or inscribed: Have you searched r/WhatIsThisPainting for the artist's name? Please also try the past sale searches on worthpoint.com, invaluable.com, liveauctioneers.com, curator.org, and other similar record sites.

Please remember to comment "Solved" once someone finds the painting you're looking for. If you comment "Thanks" or "Thank You," your post flair will be changed to 'Likely Solved.'
