From the comments on the original video, the powder she puts into that bottle is Calciumhypochlorit or something similar.
If you mix that with water it forms hypochloric acid which is used as swimming pool desinfectant.
If you mix it with an acid, for example phosphoric acid in coca cola, it will react violently and form Chlorgas instead, which is a highly toxic gas. Since she closed the lid of the bottle, the pressure inside increased quickly due to the gas production. It seems like she then opened it again, resulting in a splash of liquid as a result of the high pressure.
I would not recommend to repeat that, the liquid that is spilled with the explosion is probably acidic and can lead to severe chemical burns.
And inhaling the chlorgas can be deadly, at least they were smart enough to do it outside.
This is a good explanation with a chemistry run down and wise advice to prevent someone injuring themselves. Good response.
~ Tanesha Wocktaint could be heard screaming and turned the opposite way as we could not see her potential injuries.
According to social media, the 22-year-old sustained
"life-altering" injuries to her face and hands.
Wocktaint's family says she is recovering but faces a long road ahead.
In a brief statement, her sister urged others not to attempt similar stunts.
"She didn't think it would be that serious," her sister said. "Now, she might never see the same again'
I was going to respond to the person who explained the chemistry and expand that she most likely has severe chemical burns from that blast. Seems that has already been proven.
So for what it’s worth we used to do this, or something similar as kids, and things go super critical FAST. She may not have opened it, I couldn’t really tell from the video, but it may have done a violent self disassembly. When that happens the stuff that is released is NASTY. One time we did that at night, and when we went outside the next morning. You could see where the cloud blew through the trees because all the leaves had turned brown/black and were falling off the tree in that immediate area. The rest of the leaves were still green. It was the middle of summer.
That liquid in there is probably mostly hypochloric acid. If you use it to desinfect a pool you put in a spoon or so on several thousand liters of water, putting a full package into a 2 l bottle will obviously be a lot higher concentrated.
When I was a kid, my friends mother worked in a shop where they used dry ice for cooling and once she brought some of it home. We filled it into a plastic bottle with water and threw it into a pond. Dry Ice is basically solid Carbon dioxide, so when it came into contact with water, it sublimated (turned directly from solid to gas), resulting in a similar "explosion".
Usually the cap of the bottle is the weakest point anyway, so it just pops of with a loud boom and that's it. We could even use the same plastic bottle several times.
It was pretty fun and only mildly dangerous, in hindsight. I mean the scariest part was to open the bottles, when we did not put enough dry ice inside, so it did not explode. Just CO2 and water, no toxic or acidic chemicals.
She also suffered life threatening injuries all over and a family member stated she will never in her life function like she used to but with time may be able to see and regain some functionality.
Do u really think she opened it again? I think the gases expanded the plastic bottle til it went boom! She’s clearly trying to tighten the already very tight cap due to the pressure rising so rapidly in the bottle. No cap was taken off sir, I promise u that!
Yeah people underestimate a lot of things. The first time I watched this I though it was pop rocks or something she was pouring in. Then I read the comments and my mind was blown at the lack of respect and response.
She received treatment for chemical burns to her face. Her family expressed that she was on a long road to recovery and possibly will not be able to see normally again.
Remember: if you are going to make something potentially explosive, its important you place it on a pile of things that could be potentially used as shrapnel.
Me and a friend did this in the back yard with dry ice when we were kids. It went fine, but some neighbors thought it was a bomb and call 911 so the cops showed up and arrested us. We were children and had guns pointed at us and were handcuffed and taken to the station until our parents came and got us. It was pretty traumatic really.
We used to make MRE bombs by placing the heating packs into various sized soda bottles. When you add water it reacts and releases I believe hydrogen. Even with the larger bottles you didn’t want to have around longer than necessary and you sure as fuck didn’t shake it.
(I don't condone this behaviour I was a VERY stupid teenager at the time)
Me and my mates reigned absolute terror with the ol' hydrochloric acid bombs one of our other hobbies was to order pizzas to different places and rob the bloke for his pies as he got out of the car.
one night we'd had a few to many and while waiting for the delivery to rock up one of my mates thought it a good idea put one in the middle of the drive way to the house we'd ordered the pizzas to this place also happened to be a former teacher to some of the boys .
The timing could not have been any fuking better ol' mate Domino pulled up in his clapped out hatchback and parked directly above it , as soon as he'd cracked the door the bastard went KA-BOOM other than his extremely effeminate scream and laughing like fuking sock puppets as we bailed into the bush I don't remember much else of that night.
Stupid or psychopathic? Because stupid would entail none of you knew how your actions would negatively affect some dude just trying to make a living but the fact you knew there was going to be a violent chemical reaction tells us you were just the opposite of what you say
hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of men, women and children gave their lives to establish the foundational knowledge of understanding life and countless industries. They created giants in production and standardization. They built the bones of the world we live in today.
All of this to say how stupid influencers and (certain) content creators are, by comparison. It's fucking embarassing and a disgrace to our species as a whole.
According to some other comments, her family made a statement that she's severely wounded over her entire body, her face disfigured, and missing some fingers
This video is being debated and scrutinized a lot lately and it's been divided between hoax/staged and/or not quite as bad as people think. Forensic reviewers cast doubt on the explosion based on how it appears on camera, as well as her still standing afterwards... there's some suggesting they intentionally put a different powder in the bag so it wasn't actually the same thing used in pools etc. No way to know, since no one can track back to the source and no one knows her name and the one name given was debunked by Google as a fake name with a fake story to go with it....
If you take the granulated chlorine and add the right mixture of it to brake fluid in a plastic bottle (works the best) it creates enough of an exothermic reaction it will shoot a flame out of the top of the bottle. DO NOT stand close or inhale the fumes
The whole time I was like.., girl you are far too relaxed for this, f-ing run already!
I dunno, she was clearly maintaining the recommended full arms length distance while working with this dangerous reaction.
Nice safety goggles… oh wait.
Best. episode. ever.
Safety Squints
At least she was wearing protective sleeves and not a tank top.
My brain: "move away! Move away! Why are you still standing there! Move away!"

R. I. P. to her face. But really, Wocktaint?
This literally almost made me piss myself!! OMFG!! 🤣🤣🤣
Hah! 😆
"her sister urged others not to attempt similar stunts."
That's a warning that is definitely not warranted.
"but faces a long road ahead."

Yeah we used muriatic acid, or red devil lye.
She also suffered life threatening injuries all over and a family member stated she will never in her life function like she used to but with time may be able to see and regain some functionality.
Cola bottles give at approx. 12 bar...... This is not funny at all
Awh, science! Reminds me of a childhood friend. “RUN IT’S POISON!” ”We violated the Geneva Convention.”
RIP Michael 1986-2008
You could do a lil dance
Make a little love
Get down tonight
Get down tonight
Get down
Get down
Get down tonight.

Woah, scrolled back up to see if your username was something like "imakeshitup" and was surprised to see nearly my own name.
Back in my day we used mentos and nobody's face melted off.
Yeah that lady got fucked up
If someone to drink that, will the stomach fire in the hole?
First she caps it, which made me yell at my phone in surprise, then SHAKES IT UP
I was like "RUN AWAY WTF"
I was holding my phone at arms length, wincing, and watching through glances, and shouting "you better run!" Shir like that is no joke
As a chemist, this is really difficult to watch. People underestimate the power of science. I’m so sorry this happened to her, she didn’t know.
This is making me think of Thomas Dolby lyrics, which seem wildly inappropriate right now.
As another chemist, same.
She knew to combine those things but didn’t know there would be a reaction?
Yeah people underestimate a lot of things. The first time I watched this I though it was pop rocks or something she was pouring in. Then I read the comments and my mind was blown at the lack of respect and response.
She did know. She didn't just randomly get the idea to do this. An explosion was the plan from the start.
Knowing what you can do with chlorine and how stupid people can be i am surprised its still sold on stores.
she was incapable of listening he said back up she totally ignored his fair Warning ⚠️
If you want you can do a little dance though
r/whatcouldgowrong
She was the victim of a salt.
And probably a victim of the sugar, too.
Antoine!!! Snatch yo people up! Hide yo children!
Whose got the aftermath vid or story
She received treatment for chemical burns to her face. Her family expressed that she was on a long road to recovery and possibly will not be able to see normally again.
That's the gist of it.
'Let ne tell yah somtin'
Remember: if you are going to make something potentially explosive, its important you place it on a pile of things that could be potentially used as shrapnel.
Sadly, not the most dangerous part of this.
Well, to be fair… it literally was a bomb.
The reaction probably wasn’t warranted, but a dry ice bomb is absolutely still a dangerous explosive device.
Even as a kid I knew to squeeze the bottle before capping it to give me more time to get away.
That is tragic, not funny
We used to make MRE bombs by placing the heating packs into various sized soda bottles. When you add water it reacts and releases I believe hydrogen. Even with the larger bottles you didn’t want to have around longer than necessary and you sure as fuck didn’t shake it.
That was chlorine not mentos. She is permanently disfigured.

On Point
Watching this: “girl. You better run!!! NOOO, don’t touch that mf’n bottle. RUN.”
I just need to kniw if she lost her vision
Her socials said she lost a couple fingers, vision in one eye, partial blindness in the other, and chemical burns on her face
Glad she is still alive cause it could have been worse
Possibly a few teeth
Bet she's glad she went glasses and not contacts that day
According to some other comments, her family made a statement that she's severely wounded over her entire body, her face disfigured, and missing some fingers
She made quantum nuka cola
Those 2l bottles are rated for over 100 psi. She's lucky to walk away with both eyes
She didn't, from what I've read.
Bruh... whole time I was screaming "why is she still holding it?"
Why tf is she so obsessed with “doing a little dance”? Go to edm concert if you want to dance, not make an IED…
She could say something funny to save face, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't have one anymore.
I remember I blew my eyebrows with my chemistry set. It's great that they are experimenting.
Bruh... whole time I was screaming "why is she still holding it?"
A moment of silence for the unsung heroes who learn things the hard way so that the rest of us don't have to...
Is she okay? Need to GTF real quick after shaking
Dude is she okay ??
What did you expect 😳
Play stupid games............
Win stupid prizes
Darwin Award goes to...
I want to see the after math
well that was fun
What is that powdered mentos stuff?
No, it is powdered pool shock. It is nasty shit and reacts strongly with many, many things.
This is the worse video ever. I wanna see the front of her!!!!😖
*condescendingly
"What did you lllearn?"
it's good to have a gallon of Vinegar when foolishly playing with Acid
So that you can neutralize the acid with more acid?
Natural selection
Run girl!!! 😩😩😩
What did you learn?
We all knew how this would end.
So what we’ve learned here is that you shouldn’t make a time bomb and then stand there holding it like a dumbass
It’s really hard to feel empathy for her. There was a better way to go about this. She FAFO.
Hmm, the old salt acid face melting trick...
Did she never see The Mummy?
Aaaaaaand she’s blind
Darwinism.
See the problem here... She didn't do a lil dance
Bro. You put the lid on. You intend for it to explode. Why are you still handling it after that?!
Idk what powder she put in there, but if it's a concentrated caustic agent, that's a good way to end up scarred and blind.
Edit: Shit, I read the other comments. She did end up with "life-altering injuries."
Where's the lil dance
Look mommy, no hands.
When blowing things up aren’t you supposed to let your best friend shake it up??
How do bombs work?
We had a guy almost lose his thumb this way
Big dummy!!!!
She wants to win a Darwin award someday
What did she think was going to happen?
"What happens when you mix an acid and base?"
Bad decisions and regret would be my best guess based on this video.
She’s not smart.
[deleted]
yes
Her ears gonna be ringing for a while
What happens when you mix an acid and the Ace of Base?
The level of stupid is just wild
Bitch had 17 months to back up.
Ew
Ew
"I hate my science class, when will I need this"
That’s a stupid thing to do!
She forgot to do the safety squint
I hope she's not capable of producing offspring... smfh it's crazy how people make it look so easy to be stupid.
She didn't hear the guy saying "back up!"?
Predictable
natural selection at work
I used to make a lot of draino bombs as a kid
Somehow I still have all my fingers
What an interesting guide to creating a DIY flashbang
I bet she’s a lot of fun on the 4th of July.

Stupid
LOL what a dumbshit.
Used to do this as a teen using dry ice and water.
Dumbass
She needed a whole set of armor
She was the science experiment 🤦♂️
She blinded herself with science!
Safety last
That Darwin dude might have been on to something.
Natural selection : darwin award
Oh ma gah
After seeing too many videos where fireworks blow up in someones hands, watching these videos make me anxious. STOP TOUCHING THE BOTTLE!!!
You can do a lill dance
It really amazes me how fucking stupid people are.
Science can be hard
That can easily cause blindness. Hope she's ok
She asked for that to happen
A Video made for r/fuckaroundandfindout
Idiot
Hm
Science is precise. This was anything but precise.
Morons!
I was anxious watching her put the lid on and then not let go back when I thought it was just baking soda she was pouring in
This is how the Zomby apocalypse starts...
Why tf did she take 5 business days to move away?? 👀
Never shake it lol my brother learnt that
La la la la... I'm in no hurry... let me just shake it a little... reposition it a little...
Go on Reddit, learn how to make bomb. Fantastic...
If you’re not smarter than the bomb you’ve created……
As she was shaking it, in my head I heard a line from after you beat the first Scarab in Halo 3 lol
Get away! It's gonna blow!
She clearly couldn’t hear me telling her to run she must be deaf
🙉🙊🙈
Saw that coming a mile away
What happens when you waste too much time in yapping.
How’d that dance go?
You kin do a lidda day ince
She sounded like Sheneneh from the old Martin TV show at the end. lol "Oh my gawwwd"
Holy hell!!!
I knew it was all over the moment she put the lid on
Ohhh maaahhh gawddd had me rollin
Darwin Award winner
Normally everyday brings with it the new dumbest shit I’ve ever seen, but this has stayed the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen for two days now
No sense of urgency
You just mix some bicarbonate of soda into some coke and give it a shake and it makes crack, I heard cat Williams talk about it
If you take the granulated chlorine and add the right mixture of it to brake fluid in a plastic bottle (works the best) it creates enough of an exothermic reaction it will shoot a flame out of the top of the bottle. DO NOT stand close or inhale the fumes
Why did she choose to put it on top of a pile of soon to be shrapnel?
She was too worried about doing a little dance
