I dated a chick in college who despite being 5'4" wore the same size shoes as me. Never did yard work in them, but I did wear a pair of heels for an hour in the house as part of a argument about the difficult of wearing heels. She won that argument. Lol
I'm male, and I sometimes go back and buy a second pair of the same dress shoes if I really like them because by the time I wear out one pair, the stupid shoe company will have discontinued them in favor of some stupid fad design I wouldn't be caught dead in. Then rather than just buying something I know already fits my foot, I have to go through the whole search all over again.
A while back I had an entire brand evaporate on me. Since then I wear a pair long enough to know it's good, then get a second pair and alternate.
The secret is to buy dress boots that can be resolved. They generally will be built to a tougher standard, imo more comfortable once you get them broke in, and when they wear out you can just have them resoled and theyre as good as new. I would call red wings iron rangers a dress boot but people wear those daily for 10 years+ and they just need resoled every once in a while. You can get similarly build boots in dress styles
Same here man. If I really like a pair of shoes, I'll often buy a second pair of them a month later (after feeling them out). Sometimes even a 3rd. It's pretty wild how quickly shoes are discontinued so if you find a real banger, get more than one pair.
Could be that she likes them, found them comfortable (very important with heels), and wasn’t sure if they would be available again in the future since many shoes are sold for a season or two and then never produced again, and so decided to by a few pairs so she could always have them.
Yeah if these are go to shoes where she wears them a lot she might want two pairs. Wearing shoes wear them down a lot so alternating really increases the longevity of a pair of shoes.
You're on a list. Kind of like a superhero we let you do you but things could quickly turn bad so we have to watch from a safe distance. Haha sir he's brought shoes L4 and R7 today my god we're all doomed 😂
I have five pairs of the same Madewell flats (three black, One snake print, one blue) because I wear them almost every single day to the point of beyond repair. They have been discontinued so any time I see a pair for sale on EBay or Poshmark in my size I buy them 😅 I’ve already worn out three other pairs of black ones and I try to keep at least one pair in “new” condition for when I need to wear something a bit nicer.
It’s getting harder to find listings because I’ve bought them all 😭
Same. I have four pair of non-slip shoes for work, and only use the newest pair, but can’t get myself to toss them simply because the tread is worn down. I have enough outdoor shoes for years and years to come
I’ve tried to do this; go back and buy another pair of the same shoes once the ones I have are worn out, but I can never find them again. Shoemakers keep changing their designs.
You say that like billionaires like Zuckerberg don't wear exactly the same thing every day (even if it's just having hundreds of identical articles of clothing) wasn't that something that Jobs did as well?
Honestly if you REALLY like a particular garment, it makes sense to buy a second backup copy, while they're still available and in season or w/e. Could be easier than trying to find another unworn pair years later.
I had the same question. When I asked she said one is size 6.5 and one is size 7. When she was pregnant sometimes her feet would swell and she would wear the larger size.
Ok this is an explanation I actually buy…because until this moment I forgot that I had done the exact same thing while pregnant for the exact same reason and sometimes I accidentally grab the larger pair and clip clop like a horse around my lab all day.
pregnant and heels isn't something i'd want to do myself, more power to her. if everything else is hurting, adding my feet to the list isn't on my menu.
Hey, if I find a pair of shoes I REALLY like, I will immediately buy a second pair as a backup. By the time the first pair is worn out, the shoe is usually no longer available. There are some exceptions with designers that have signature products which are sold on an ongoing basis (like my Tory Burch Minnie flats) but even then, you never know when a product might be discontinued or revamped into something I don't like as much.
I'm picky, and with heels especially since it can be a hassle to find any that are comfortable to walk in and don't give me blisters. I usually wear the second pair around the house for a while to break them in so that they're ready when the first pair needs to be retired.
I’m a Nike Killshot guy and my first pair was like $90 direct from the website. I was in the outlet later that year and found the same ones for $30. I know there’s legit conspiracy that some outlet items aren’t actually the same quality, but I couldn’t tell the difference and bought 3 more pairs. That first pair is only semi retired, (basically bar sneakers now), and I rotate two of the newer pairs, and have the last pair still in the box. Not only will I never overpay for them again, but I won’t have to get any new pairs at all for the foreseeable future.
If you’re especially fond of something, it can definitely be worth it to double up. I’m sure the comfort of heels is wildly inconsistent, so if she found a pair she likes and can tolerate wearing them, it’s very reasonable that she has a second pair.
I applied the same logic to a sweater that fit me perfectly, which was 1000% worth it because that style is gone now and I spilled a whole glass of wine on it. Instead of being upset that I ruined my favorite sweater (I tried and failed to clean it), i went to the closet and tore the tags off the back-up, and moved on as if nothing happened.
Using two pairs of shoes, alternating daily, will really prolong the lifespan of your shoes if you have smelly feet and you frequently need to throw shoes away due to odour issues. (Yes, much longer than using one pair until ruined and then the other).
I'm autistic and have issues with certain textures and things like that. My entire closet is full duplicates of the same pants, same shirts, same shoes. I have few outliers when I want to switch it up but other than that it's basically the same uniform everyday.
Saves a lot of time getting dressed. There's no thought required. There's no debating on what to wear. I've already made that decision.
Had this been my wife she would have managed to convince me that they are in fact not the same. The amount of shoes she buys that to me are basically identical to what she already has is staggering.
”They’re not the same! That one is bone and this one is ecru!!”
🤣
I have a joke about my wife having 3 pairs of the same shoes but in different shades of black. She got legit angry one day when she got dressed without turning on the lights and wore “different” shoes to work (they’re the same). I said if anyone notices I’ll buy her new shoes. Nobody noticed.
I did this with a pair of dress shoes I wore to work regularly, one started to degrade and so I bought a second pair… learned I could resole them and So I did, now i wear one pair one week and the other pair the next.
As someone with odd portions & sensory issues. If I find shoes, pants, shirts, bras, etc. that I love AND are both comfortable and quality made, then I'm buying 3 to 10 of them (plus every color available).
Heels are notorious for being uncomfortable, & finding quality one's that don't break the bank is hard. She likely bought multiple after she broke them in, and decided she loved them.
But both shoes look brand new. Like never worn. More likely she bought new shoes, and they gave her two right left shoes without checking, and she never noticed until she had to wear them.
Everyone is up in arms about this but I have 3 pairs of the same running shoe in the same color because I like them a lot and want to have extras. They are still in their boxes, but to each their own.
You already know this if you spend ⅒th the time on reddit as I do, but certain types of foam often used in shoes will disintegrate if you don't use them for a year or so.
I was at a wedding where some guy’s dress shoes were disintegrating more as the night went on. This was before I knew about the problem with shoes sitting so long so it was hilarious.
I have tiny feet, finding shoes is so difficult. I found the perfect pair of everyday office shoes so I bought multiple pairs so I could wear them for a couple of years. I'm glad I did because Payless went strictly online a while ago and I just walked through my last pair.
This happened to me. I went to a semi-formal dinner, dressed very spiffy in a suit. However, I was wearing a british tan wingtip dress shoe on my right foot and a black oxford on my left. One with a leather sole, the other with a rubber sole. So the hell I didn't realize that when I left the house is a real head scratcher.
This is my worst fear. And yes I have two pairs of the same workboots, so I can rotate them and they last longer. Wearing the same shoes daily is terrible for your shoes.
Got to have a 'B Team" option in the trunk (always) and for anyone curious about why she has two pair: You have obviously never had to run around all day, smiling in shoes that are KILLING you because when you find a pair that is stylish, comfy, and sturdy- you MUST buy another pair. They are needles in the haystacks of cute, cruel shoes.
i have done this with black and navy of the same style of shoe before (and didn't notice i wearing one of each until i was at my desk) but never two of the same foot
In order for her to pack 2 left shoes she has to have more then one pair of the same shoe and that my friend is where she messed up. My wife has so many shoes and clothes she has brought the same items multiple times cuz she forgets she already owns them
She has two pairs of heels that look exactly the same?
This is also where I'm scratching my head.
I'm a man, and I have been buying the same shoes for about 25 years now. I keep older ones for doing various things that I wouldn't do with new shoes.
I probably have 10 identical pairs.
Anyway, I can see a woman that really likes a particular style to get 2 pair of the same.
However, I have never ended up somewhere with 2 left shoes.
You're saying she probably keeps the older pair of heels to do yardwork and such?
I do my best raking while wearing my gf's old heels.
I just learned how to walk on heels from a meme
Same lol
I just learnt that Bart is a femboy
Multitasking, you are also aerating your lawn!
The heels are used for the stray leaves, right?
How else are you supposed to aerate the lawn?!
https://preview.redd.it/2uzbg1rsdl6g1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cb053fb2b8d3e67a5ccbb24ab6490884a216619
She's too high society for daytime aeration..
I love this comment thread.
I have a aerator for my tractor and I couldn’t imagine doing that with shoes. That’s nuts
What if you need to go on the sidewalk
Yep. They work like those sticks they use to pick up trash on the side of the road.
Well that's another great idea! Next time I get community service, I'm wearing heels.
That explains the heels. Now what about the bustier and garters?
I dated a chick in college who despite being 5'4" wore the same size shoes as me. Never did yard work in them, but I did wear a pair of heels for an hour in the house as part of a argument about the difficult of wearing heels. She won that argument. Lol
It really helps aerate the lawn!
No, he is suggesting that she probably keeps the older pair of heels so her husband can do yardwork and such.
Probably not. I'm suggesting she likes them so much that she wants them to last twice as long, so got two pairs.
Or maybe she just forgot she had them and liked them again.
I'm male, and I sometimes go back and buy a second pair of the same dress shoes if I really like them because by the time I wear out one pair, the stupid shoe company will have discontinued them in favor of some stupid fad design I wouldn't be caught dead in. I wish I had this foresight.

Yes.
OP eventually explained that she had been having a foot swelling issue, so had 2 pairs of different sizes.
Similar reason.
So she took two left shoes of differing sizes. That’s so funny 🤣
I'll also get 2 pairs of the same shoes in case they stop making them.
Yeah if these are go to shoes where she wears them a lot she might want two pairs. Wearing shoes wear them down a lot so alternating really increases the longevity of a pair of shoes.
I had a friend that could do layups in 4 inch heels. Couldn't dunk, though. Bless you, Jenny.
wife is used as an lawn aerator
No, she keeps the old pair in the kitchen obviously
I think the old pair is used for construction.
Talk to the guy next door.
True, maybe bought both at once if they were on sale and knew she would eventually need another.
Can confirm. I keep buying back up boots for a kind I love and usually have two pairs at a time cause I run them into the ground.
We all do that but neither of those shoes look worn. Like, at all.
I buy the same pair of sandals every summer or 2 depending on the state of the ones I have. I keep older ones for days that involve dirtier places.
I hope you just separate by left and right and just pick the nicest one from each for date night 😂
Are you spying on me?
You're on a list. Kind of like a superhero we let you do you but things could quickly turn bad so we have to watch from a safe distance. Haha sir he's brought shoes L4 and R7 today my god we're all doomed 😂
I have five pairs of the same Madewell flats (three black, One snake print, one blue) because I wear them almost every single day to the point of beyond repair. It’s getting harder to find listings because I’ve bought them all 😭
That's a sneaker thing... Not a dress shoe thing...
Especially for ladies
Maybe she has 2 left feet, and OP just excluded that information?
How well can she dance?
Oddly enough, she dances like she has two RIGHT feet.
You can find the same style of shoe year after year? Arent they usually seasonal?
Normally autistic people are better at keeping track of these things, though.
I do something similar , I often buy 2 pairs or 3 when i know i am comfortable in them.
Or different colors to match different outfit
Hey buddy.... have you been tested?
yeah but you're a MAN!
Same. I have four pair of non-slip shoes for work, and only use the newest pair, but can’t get myself to toss them simply because the tread is worn down. I have enough outdoor shoes for years and years to come

*I'm a figure out of a 80/90ties cartoon
You say that like billionaires like Zuckerberg don't wear exactly the same thing every day (even if it's just having hundreds of identical articles of clothing) wasn't that something that Jobs did as well?
Oh, I also do that. I have like 40 of the same 2 shirts.
Should last the rest of my life, and I never have to decide what to wear.
Heck yeah, no decisions!
Honestly if you REALLY like a particular garment, it makes sense to buy a second backup copy, while they're still available and in season or w/e. Could be easier than trying to find another unworn pair years later.

Some people do have more than 1 pair of the same shoes.Like this host
I had the same question. When I asked she said one is size 6.5 and one is size 7. When she was pregnant sometimes her feet would swell and she would wear the larger size.

clip clop noises
Poor confused labrador!
Understandable, have a nice day
I was honestly expecting her to say one is slightly darker than the other
That's just swell.
But really, you can see in the photo that they're different sizes.
How can you see that, they are not as far from the camera
That's camera distortion. Visually, it's really almost impossible to spot a half size difference.
pregnant and heels isn't something i'd want to do myself, more power to her. if everything else is hurting, adding my feet to the list isn't on my menu.
Yes a pair for M-W and one for T-Th. Friday is Chuck Taylor day.
when you find the perfect dress shoes you buy extra pairs, and try not to mix them up.
Hey, if I find a pair of shoes I REALLY like, I will immediately buy a second pair as a backup. By the time the first pair is worn out, the shoe is usually no longer available. in case she wants to buy a new pair
i have like 3 pairs of black airforces. they will last 10x longer if u alternate between wearing them
So, the right ones were left?
Edit: Holy heck, thanks for the awards and all the comments. You lot are hilarious!
And the left ones were not right.
But, the left ones were also right.
Well, only one left one is right, while the two left right ones were not.
I feel like I’m talking to the door knockers in Labyrinth
Three rights make a left
right, i mean correct
She's not happy with the ones she took but the ones at home are all right
Fantastic!
Underrated Comment
So you took 2 left. Right?
So she owns two pairs of the same shoe to even make that mistake? Why?
As someone with odd portions & sensory issues. If I find shoes, pants, shirts, bras, etc. that I love AND are both comfortable and quality made, then I'm buying 3 to 10 of them (plus every color available).

Shoes, especially running shoes, are the last thing you want to store for later. The rubber in them can degrade and crumble without regular use.
That’ll show her never to run in those darned heels anymore
If their used and rotated regularly its not a big deal. Normally, its the special occasion shoes this happens to.
apparently, one is a size 6.5 and the other is a size 7. the bigger size for when she was pregnant and swollen
Please do not summon the shoe disintegration meme.
I saw one just yesterday in fact - some guy had "brand new" work boots fall apart.
I was at a wedding where some guy’s dress shoes were disintegrating more as the night went on. This was before I knew about the problem with shoes sitting so long so it was hilarious.
I use a new pair of tennis shoes probably every 4 months due to mileage, so I hope they last a year!
Same, I only buy one type of sneaker and currently have 3 pairs (good, bad, emergency in the car trunk).
I have tiny feet, finding shoes is so difficult. I found the perfect pair of everyday office shoes so I bought multiple pairs so I could wear them for a couple of years. I'm glad I did because Payless went strictly online a while ago and I just walked through my last pair.
op said when his wife was pregnant her feet would swell so sometimes she would wear the larger size
She's obviously there to meet Mr. Right...
👀
Sounds like she manufactured a crisis so she can buy another pair of beige shoes
She did say was going to try and run to a store before the meeting but ran out of time.
So what did she do then? Go with two left heels on?
Barefoot to assert dominance
She said this company always looks very professional, so she had to wear the shoes. Was not going to go barefoot or in sneakers.
OMG I can't even imagine walking with two left shoes ! What a warrior
Seems rather unprofessional to show up in two left heels. I don’t assume she can walk normal that way
Not unprofessional, INSANE lmao
Just wear one inside out. Your wife will be fine!
4 year olds everywhere make the same mistake, she shouldn't feel bad
Last October I took a flight to Dallas to visit my grandmother and didn’t realize I wore mismatching shoes until I got to her place

Still better than OP’s situation.
Looks like you and OP have the same taste in shoes
OP's wife:
First thing that popped into my mind!
https://youtu.be/Y-QMtphwlZc
Doesn't get more appropriate than this scene from "Best In Show"
This is my worst fear. And yes I have two pairs of the same workboots, so I can rotate them and they last longer. Wearing the same shoes daily is terrible for your shoes.
Do they last longer than having one pair, or do they last longer than going through 2 pairs one after the other
Brother
Public speaking? Death? Spiders? Snakes? Bugs? Being buried alive?
Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not
I can understand having two pairs of the same socks.
That’s not right
Why does she even HAVE two left shoes that are exactly the same?
Stop criticizing your wife so much. Shes all right.
Wait does she have more or just only 2 pair that looks alike?
In her defense it’s the same shoe
Oh no! Now she'll have to shop for at least another pair of shoes to wear!
wtf she has 2 same pairs?
[removed]
OP said his wife's feet would get swollen when she was pregnant, so she bought the same pair but half a size bigger.
Why does she have more than one pair of the same shoe?
well, it matches her dancing ability, so I see no problem.
Why does she have the same exact shoes in the first place 😂
"They're not the same color!"
Looks like she was trying on shoes and put 2 lefts into the box she purchased.
I think there's a dad joke somewhere to lighten the mood.
"Guess these shoes you brought are the only pair left huh?"
At least you know what to say if someone asks you to dance -s
This cant be real. No woman on the planet has 2 pairs of shoes so similar. Imelda Marcos would be horrified.
I am assuming she can't dance?
I guess she’s not alright, she’s all-left
And she figured this out while sitting in the driver's seat of a car?
I once saw a woman in a grocery store line wearing a business suit and a blue and black high heel shoe.
Who buys two pairs of the exact same shoes? Like, not even a variation of color?
If they’re for work it makes sense. But also i have two sometimes 3 pairs of the same shoe
These look brand new, do you mean a store gave her 2 left feet? Cause I could see that happening since they use one for display
I'm sorry 😭 this was the first thing I saw when scrolling 🤣
Who would own those shoes twice?
Why does she have 2 pairs of the same ugly ass shoe lol
Sounds like someone outsmarted you to get 2 new pairs of shoes.
1st world problems huh
That'll teach you!!! Fkn know it all!!
“We come from France.”
Let's hope she doesn't do any dancing on this trip.
That’s because she’s thinking about person waiting for her on that um..work trip!
The elevator was also out and she had to walk up 5 stories of stairs in them. 😆
She wore two left shoes??? She didn’t have any other pair?
She traveled in them the whole time? No way. That’s torture.
Drove down in comfy shoes, switched shoes once she got down there for meeting. 1 night stay.
Sorry. I'd be wearing the comfy shoes. Don't care if I'm meeting the king of England.
Perfect time to watch My Left Foot movie. 😜
Imelda Marcos?
Now you can do the Ella McCay Challenge
“That’s all you got lady, two wrong feet in ugly fuckin’ shoes.”
Might be one of the greatest one liners of a movie like ever. Erin Brockovich.
She wants to buy new shoes and this is how she’s telling you she needs them
I bet she looks funny dancing.
i have done this with black and navy of the same style of shoe before (and didn't notice i wearing one of each until i was at my desk) but never two of the same foot
Jennifer?
Lol, guess it's time to start a new fashion trend: double lefts! 😅 Can anyone say 'Left Foot Forward'?
So she left two right ones?
So she left two right ones?
lol I recently did this. Thankfully it was my after hours shoes not my meeting shoes though
I did that for work once. it happens when you are in a hurry sometimes.
One hers, one yours? Judging by the size ;)
Looks like she needs to go to the right shoe store.
In order for her to pack 2 left shoes she has to have more then one pair of the same shoe and that my friend is where she messed up. My wife has so many shoes and clothes she has brought the same items multiple times cuz she forgets she already owns them
To confirm....two lefts don't make a right?
I can tell she dances well!
