Picked up one of these (v5) a while back along with the pico plus autofire and it is no joke the most disappointing wax atomizer I’ve ever used. I’ve seen nothing but praise for these things but I’ve never gotten a single acceptable “good” hit off of these and the wax gets burned and stained onto the cup anyway. IMO pretty bad recommendation unless you want to jump through a bunch of flaming hoops to get a single dab, and honestly there’s nowhere that teaches you how to properly use it either. I dont really have any knowledge about firmware or arctic fox or whatever words I see pop up here a lot. I would take the sai over this any day, at least that one doesn’t require hours of research to work, and actually functions the way it’s meant to.
There’s the discord and the DT sub where you can ask. You not being able to figure out how to make it work does not make it the worst atomizer. It makes it an atomizer that you seemingly cannot figure out. It’s highly recommended because the people who do take the time to figure it out have discovered it does what it is intended to do.
I’ve taken the time to “figure out” how to use it and it honestly sucks with just the base model and a regular pico plus. When I first bought it I didn’t even know it was damn near unusable without autofire but I’d still spend plenty of time trying to feather the fire button and get it right with my regular box mod, and was never satisfied. I waited quite a while for the pico w autofire built in to show up in stock on the dt site and when I got it, it still sucked, only ever giving me weak hits that were worse than my yocan from high school. I shouldn’t need to get a water bubbler attachment and arctic fox or whatever that is just to get a singular satisfying hit. I never called it the worst, but I was expecting something good hearing all the praise, so I’d call it the most disappointing atomizer in my experience. If you could enlighten me and give me some tips on how to use it properly I’d gladly hear you out, because I wasted quite a bit of money on this thing, about a year back
Did you try the cotton swab test to get the right TCR? What is your TCR set to? What’s your wattage set to? How long are you allowing it to heat before taking a hit?
Auto fire is not required. I have used mods with and without it with great success.
You said you couldn’t get a single good hit, but now say it’s not the worst? If I couldn’t get a single good hit I wouldn’t think it was too great.
These are box mods intended for vaping for various atomizers. It is not going to be screw on and go. If a device is intended to work across different atomizers the setting will be different so you need to figure out the setting. It is not open the box, plug, and play.
I hated the Pico too, got a dual 21700 DNA mod and that fucker RIPS now, never burns, pristine temp sensing and control and you can use Escribe to dial in the curve and whatnot if you like, not required. Just use the SS setting and it works like a boss, no joke. The V5 has excellent temp sense ability imo, set it to 485 and let the pearls spin and cough and repeat til it tastes burnt.
Where are you struggling? So I just have the v5 in using a vaporesso atomizer (which isnt recommended i am not using their special software) I heat it for 30 seconds at 30w in 10 second increments and get a good hit often with some left over. A year in on my second cup now I dont clean it as often as I should. Like im a specifically improper user and its been great almost as good as a torch rig but no hassle.
I am basically not getting anything close to a real “acceptable” cloud of smoke. Just very light wisps, doesn’t matter how long I inhale, and it feels super dry too on my throat too. I feel like it’s melting the concentrate but not enough is being vaporized. Im using it without a pearl because the pearl wont spin, it basically just sits there and does nothing
This was my experience as well. Such a pain in the ass!!! Im a stoner not an engineer. Na just give something plug and play!! My on the go device is a focus v aeris and my home device is a dr dabber switch2.
I would recommend v5. I've had a few random yocan ones but once I went to DT I stopped buying elsewhere. I have v4,v5 Quest lightning, all in 510. I would just say v5 though.
you can use it as a portable or connect to a bottomless banger and have a full on dab rig experience.
