  • Hey watch heads, is there a watch with a similar function as the Lois Vuitton Tambour Taiko Spin Time?

Especially the flipping numbers function. The design doesn't have to be the same, as long as there are flipping numbers in any way. It should cost around than 150€ if possible. It's only for my showcase thanks in advance

  • What would be a good all metal automatic watch that I can put on when I occasionally want to dress up and not wear my smart watch? It doesn't need to be too accurate but just something that I don't have to worry about batteries or whatever that I can wear maybe once or twice a month. Budget would maybe be $100-200.

  • Looking for a similar watch to these guys in the sub $400 category. Also willing to look at second hand since I know I can’t ask for too much as this price point. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds! 🫡

Must: have a nice looking dial similar style to pictured watches (mainly the face, case im not as picky about but somewhat minimal with only a few complications at most) wear similar to or smaller than a 38mm prx

Ideally also has: sapphire crystal, automatic movement, shade of blue or gray for the dial but that’s very minor, integrated bracelet.

  • I’m comparing the Longines Master Moonphase vs Chrono version with more complications. I like both of them but am worried about durability. My job is physical. Think warehouse worker not construction type work. Any thoughts? Less worried about scratches and more worried about damaging the movement/complications. Will probably wear during our less busy time of year and let my diver be worn most often.

  • I purchased a watch on Chrono24 listed in "Very Good" condition, with the dealer stating "only minor signs of wear with no noticeable scratches or damage". He has now sent a photo saying that there is a visible scratch (the scratch consists of 2 lines, circled on the photo of the watch below). He is offering to have it professionally polished before sending it to me. Is it possible to tell whether polishing out the scratches will affect the appearance of the watch when viewed with the naked eye? I am trying to decide whether to agree to it being polished or to ask for a refund (the funds are in escrow, and the watch hasn't shipped yet). The scratches look deep in this photo, but from the listing photos, it is tough to see. However, a video he sent shows that it is quite angle-dependent, so I'm struggling to tell how deep the scratches are.

I plan to wear the watch regularly (a few times a week) and do not expect to resell it. However, I do not want to end up with a watch that looks overly polished.

  • I'm looking to buy a new watch from GetBezel, and it is stated as Unworn condition. The seller states they lost the papers, but they have the box. The pictures are not the best, but GetBezel will authenticate the watch.

How do people feel about buying a watch without papers? Could this be stolen, or from a divorce, or perhaps fake trying to pass as real?

  • I’m looking at buying a new Patek Phillipe Calatrava either 6119R or 5227R. Wondering if I was going to drop this much on a watch, is there a different brand/model that I should be exploring for better value for the price. I like the watch a lot but realize that it’s a fairly simple face.

Also, was looking at the Saxonia which I really liked and seemed to be a similar quality for substantially cheaper.

Any advice from people more knowledgeable than me would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Probably a bit of a long shot/stupid question - but my dad mentioned wanting a watch that he either had or saw when he was younger. It was a Seiko 5, with a blue (maybe with a green tint) dial, anywhere from late 70s to early 90s (I know this is a massive time period).

Anyone know which models are most likely to be the ones he was referring to?

  • Hi wanting to buy a new watch, I want one of the Seiko presage Cocktail editions. Is there anywhere I can find a full list including discontinued models?

Check the Seiko website first, but for discontinued stuff you'll probably have better luck digging through watchuseek forums or just googling "seiko presage cocktail complete list" - someone's definitely made a comprehensive post about it somewhere

Tried that, will just keep looking thanks 😁

  • Hi everyone,

I am not currently a watch connoisseur or collector, I only own a smartwatch I wear to work for practicality, and a simple Danish Design quartz dress watch that I wear when I'm out of work. I like the idea of having a collection of watches to fit different outfits and environments, and my girlfriend also likes how I look with a watch on certain combinations.

As a first step towards building my collection I am thinking of a Hamilton Jazzmaster Day date: it's not particularly expensive, it's automatic movement and it fits my style.

I know there are many brands and more that are bound to fit my taste, are there any other brands that you would think work better as a first step into the world of watches? I've read that Tissot makes for a good entry level watch, but I'd rather get advice from someone who is experienced or interested enough to be spending time on a watches subreddit.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hello everyone,

I am looking for an answer to my question regarding a 4 watch collection that I started to build recently. I know that many people think, collecting watches doesn't end or that it isn't something that has a clear end point. But I said to myself, having a 4 watch box could be a good idea to limit myself to this specific number.

In this case I have already procured 3 watches, which to me, are filling a lot of roles that I might encounter during the week.

First, there is the Casio LCW M170TD. It fills the role as a GADA/travel/semi-formal watch. It is fairly slim, has a nice color pattern and functions really well as an office watch with a black leather strap when wearing shirts and even a suit.

There is also the Timex Marlin Chrono Panda as my "complications" watch. It is a good alternative to more casual but still fashion oriented moments and it even looks good on a nato strap.

Lastly, I have a Casio "Duro" MDV-107 as my trusty beater.

Now the tricky part: what type of watch would be most beneficial in terms of uniqueness and function that those other watches aren't providing? Maybe an integrated bracelet watch or even something more quirky? Or perhaps even something that is strictly formal (which would only be wearable when suited up, that would mean very little wrist time tbh). I don't like to have watches that repeat their purpose like a GMT as the LCW is already providing that.

I don't really see a good watch that could fill in this last spot. Maybe one of you could point me in the right direction?

Leave the spot open and continue looking at watches without the express purpose of buying one, you will arrive at the right choice in time. I experienced this this year with a 5 slot box and it now feels complete

  • What is the most reliable to replace a leather band?

  • I have a Lange without its original box and papers, but I can get papers from getting it serviced. Can the service papers stand in for the original papers? Does this affect the resale?

    Thanks!

No, papers always refer to the original warranty card/paperwork when the watch was bought new. Without it, you can't call it "with papers" so your price will be a bit lower as a result.

  • Is the blue of the original MN Pelagos FXD a versatile color in real life? In some pictures, it appears to be pretty bold; in others, it's more muted, almost navy.

I have tried on the black FXD, and I liked it a lot. I thought it fit me well. Black may go with everything, but there is something appealing about the blue FXD and the fact that it's blue because that was the spec for the job it was designed to do.

  • Been a little smitten with the Sinn U50, but haven’t pulled the trigger. Are there other watches with a similar style in that rough price range I should be considering? I know Sinn occasionally gets a bad rap as somewhat bland and (more recently) slightly overpriced for what it offers, but I do generally like their somewhat stark style.

The only brand I can think of that is similar to Sinn in style is Damasko. Both German and tool-orientated.

Any dive watches in the 3-4k range that are maybe top tier in that range and worth considering regardless of styling?

In that price range, Tudor is a strong contender with the Pelagos, Black Bay 41/58/54 range - depending on which configuration you go for and if you look at preowned.

The previous generation Bremont Supermarine S300/500 dive watches might be worth looking at also.

  • Loooooong shot but does anyone know where (or if) I can buy the president Lee Jae Myung commemorative watch launched recently? I'm visiting Seoul early next year and it would be a cool keepsake

  • Looking for a recommendation for a gold mechanical watch, preferably on a bracelet, with a red dial. I have seen a Rolex, Seiko 5, Oris Big Crown, Citizen Tsuyosa, and a whole lot of really cheap crap.
