Not as dire, but I have a friend who made fun of me for a while because we were at an art museum, and had taken the bus.
When we left, we got to the stop and since it was only the two of us there, we were gonna smoke a cigarette while waiting. It should have been there within a few minutes, it'd be close, but there was time.
Then we saw the bus, it had come a few minutes earlier and was on it's looping path back towards the city. It kinda went out away and then back to the road we were on, so if we ran out asses off we could probably still catch it a few stops later.
So, we did. She threw her cigarette down but mine was still unlit in my mouth, which turned into me awkwardly lighting it while running and smoking it while booking our asses down the hill to the next stop.
We did catch the bus. I had smoked about half of it, I was a bit lightheaded and felt like I had run a lot more than I had thanks to mostly just inhaling smoke in the process.

I have carpooled to lunch with coworkers and occasionally one of them even cracks the widow and vapes without even asking! If I wanted a buzz, I'd have to go all day without it, and only the first puff really did the trick after for like... 30 seconds.

I smoked ciggs for almost 20 years and quit for 2 years then started again. Switched to vaping for 3 years to help quit the 2nd time smoking. I never craved ciggs for as long after quiting as I have vapes. It's been a year now almost and I still feel a very strong pull to vape when I wake, and get in my vehicle after work for some reason. It's not even for nicotine, a non nic vape would do. Stay away from all of it.

A vape crucially doesn’t have that end point, so people will keep puffing to the point of poisoning themselves, and your brain isn’t satisfied in the same way as ‘finishing’ a cigarette.
Also a lot of people literally sit inside sucking on a vape while in bed or in front of a computer/tv for hours but would actually go outside to smoke something which obviously they're not going to do for nearly as long.
There was a horrible story earlier this year or some time last year bout someone having to have a fair amount of blood and vape liquid pumped out of their lungs. I can’t recall what their rate of nicotine consumption was, but it seemed crazy.
